Traumatica 2026 Review

Traumatica Ratings ()

INTRODUCTION

20 years of horror and 10 years of Traumatica are being celebrated! Boasting 8 horror attractions with several new additions in the lineup, a brand new upcharge experience called The Hotel, an ever growing and adapting story, plus brand new shows and entertainment.

Found at Europa Park, Traumatica is the horror event which has had huge success. However, it started back as Terenzi Horror Nights in 2007. Marc Terenzi, the famous pop star, teamed up with Michael Mack from Europa Park to create the start of something unique at the time. In 2017, they rebranded to the Traumatica name, bringing a darker and more apocalyptic feel to the whole event.

Traumatica is open on selected nights from the end of September to early November. Tickets cost from €45, with fast track at €96 and a Psycho Pass from €349. Fast track includes 1 fast track per maze, while the Psycho Pass is unlimited and includes additional entertainment, including Eden Manor, an after hours lounge bar which is very unique. The event takes place at Europa Park, with its own entrance gate around the side. It’s open from 6pm till 11:30pm, with additional out of hours events running till 3am on Fridays and Saturdays.

In our review, we explore the event as a whole, Vampire Club, Eden Manor, The Hotel and the Legends Party we were invited to!

THE OVERALL EVENT…

WOO – Variety & Quality | WOO – Roaming Characters | BOO – Operations

With Traumatica, there is always so much to see and do, and because of that you really do need more than one night to soak it all in. They have 8 scare mazes for 2026, an upcharge paranormal experience, a twisted ice show, a new stage show hosted by Cadaverous Black, the new character joining the Traumatica storyline. There are plenty of food and drink options, a tattoo studio and lots of merchandise available to purchase. The variety of what they have at the event is more than you need, and the quality is never short of excellent. Every maze, show and entertainment piece has been put together with true passion and high quality. The operations across our two nights were really good, as we had the ShoxterPass (their fast track system). However, without this we know the queues move much slower and grow quickly. As always, Traumatica is not what it is without its roaming characters, some who have been with the event for many years and developed their characters into the ever adapting story. You are guaranteed to see many of them throughout your evening. Some scary, some funny, others just very strange, but all together they are ready to interact. The detailed costumes and the vast amount of different characters are very impressive.

Day One (New for 2026)

WOO – Theming | WOO – Actor Performance | BOO –  Concept

Day One is one of the brand new mazes taking over Traumatica. Designed around the story of day one of the apocalypse, you witness the chaos, destruction and evil that now fills the air. The theming here was spectacular, with well themed booths around a deserted town and a wrecked train carriage, before getting lost in the catacombs. Each scene was so detailed, filled with props and little details, building the level of immersion to make you feel like you were in the apocalypse. The concept of the apocalypse isn’t a new one in terms of horror or mazes, however it is nice to see it fit the overall Traumatica brand. The cast inside was lively, horrific and knew their space, delivering scare after scare as you travelled across the town. You really had to keep your eyes out, as they were literally everywhere.

Wakalas Wonderland

WOO – Theming | WOO – Enjoyment | BOO – Audio

Wakalas Wonderland takes over the Grims Funhouse facade once more. By pure popularity, Wakala is a place to have fun, enjoy pizza and listen to music, or should we say was… Now everything is a bit more sinister, as the animatronics come alive and it seems the workers have become possessed. From the facade being a huge clown face, to the intro scene giving that Five Nights at Freddy’s feel, before turning into a true funhouse. The audio started really well and prominent, however it felt like it slowly faded throughout the attraction and wasn’t as noticeable compared to some of the other attractions. Wakalas Wonderland was very much an enjoyable maze, with all the fun elements and obstacles, lighting and animatronics. While still creepy and horror, it had a lighter scare factor, but it’s still a fan favourite with many great elements.

Tarot House: Final Descent

WOO – Storytelling | WOO – Costume & Makeup | BOO – Concept

Tarot House is a returning maze and has been around since our last visit back in 2024. This attraction has a great starting scene which sets the story. Whilst in German, you can still feel the mysteriousness of the story as the fortune teller stares into her crystal ball and opens the portal into the house. Inside, it is haunted by Madam Monroe and her coven, as you go through different scenes while the story plays out. The concept isn’t anything unique or special as such, with a haunted Tarot House fitting the Halloween and spooky theme, but with that said, it fits the Traumatica story and the overlay of Last Descent keeps the story progressing. The costumes inside were top notch, highly detailed and blending in with the sets and effects. The makeup was realistic and horrifying and all in all, it did not disappoint.

Dark Remains (NEw for 2026)

WOO – Actor Performance | WOO – Costume & Makeup | BOO – Actor Utilisation

Dark Remains is also a new attraction for 2026, and this takes you into the catacombs as you see what is hidden within them. Filled with the macabre, dark creatures and skeletons. This was a clever maze, as some of the costumes were skeletons that blended into the walls, and the way they got their scares was simple but so effective. There were some more demonic creatures within that added a creepier atmosphere. The actors weren’t used as efficiently as in many of the traditional mazes, due to the narrow spaces and how the costumes were used. With that said, the actors performed to a high level and in a unique way thanks to these costumes and settings. Overall a strong attraction in the Traumatica lineup.

The Hill: Hide & Seek

WOO – Concept | WOO – Lighting & SFX | BOO – Screams

The Hill is another returning attraction and takes the story of missing kids and a mystical magical force taking over. With time not on your side, will you find out what happened before they find you? The concept on the surface seems basic, however they have added interactive scenes as you go through the forest and structures. From red light, green light to staying quiet to keep away from these creatures. The scares were the weakest in this maze, due to limited places they could hide and attack from and it seeming to have the least actors. However, with great lighting throughout, playing with the interactive nature made it a lot of fun and certainly different to the rest of the intense mazes.

The Field (New for 2026)

WOO – Audio | WOO – Costume & Makeup | BOO – Storytelling

The Field is a brand new maze for 2026, however it has a more meaningful purpose. This is a cornfield maze but also resembles the first maze the event built 20 years ago. It was a short attraction that took you into high corn and had a range of different creatures hiding inside. The costumes were designed to catch you out, leaving you unsure what was real or not. There was a very limited story on the website and nothing explained before or during your time in the maze. Audio played an effective part in this maze, with sounds of helicopters and the natural rustling of the corn. It came together to be quite haunting, and it was a nice homage to bring it back for this anniversary.

Murderdome: Bonus Round

WOO – Screams | WOO – Lighting & SFX | BOO – Theming

Murderdome is another returning attraction and this has had huge changes since our last visit. Hosted in a large circus tent, this maze has a huge array of effects. From fire, ball pits, smoke and a lighting package that is mesmerising. They had air blasts which caught you off guard and chainsaws at the end to make sure you left running. The theming inside Murderdome isn’t of the quality of the rest of Traumatica. Whilst still plenty of different props and many different routes and spaces to explore, it felt just a little less. This was made up by the scares, as this attraction was one of the most intense. They were very forceful with grabbing, moving and getting in your way, and with their terrifying costumes and quite vicious look, it all played a part in the intimidation and fear of this maze.

Studio 13: Call back

WOO – Storytelling | WOO – Costume & Makeup | BOO – Actor Utilisation

Studio 13 is also a returning maze and this takes you into 13 different floors and scenes of hell. Taking in all different themes and settings, as you yourself take an audition for their callback year. Outside the attraction and before you step inside, you meet the host who gets you to prepare your talent, and they may even showcase their own, which sets the story nicely. As you step in the lift, everything starts to go wrong and then you must try to find the exit before it’s too late. Sadly the actors don’t seem to be utilised as greatly as in other mazes, with each floor being a different theme meaning the characters only fit that scene. The costumes inside are some of the strongest, with blood creatures and other horrifying nightmares awaiting you around the corner. Studio 13 is very unique and has many signature pieces that make it the top tier attraction it is today.

The Hotel

The Hotel is a brand new upcharge attraction that you can purchase on top of your entry ticket. Costing €30, this is a solo experience where you join the paranormal hunt team in the hotel, with not much more said, leaving what’s inside a mystery. Whilst we don’t wish to spoil the maze, it takes inspiration from other solo experiences found in Europe, and the team make sure to immerse you from check in until check out. Even the host outside won’t tell you how long the experience is or what you might encounter, only those who step in know. Guests do get a token of their stay, a laundry bag with The Hotel branding on it, which is a nice touch. We would highly recommend this to those looking for a unique experience to do alone and to see the unusual done spectacularly.

Shows & Entertainment

Studio 13 is also a returning maze and this takes you into 13 different floors and scenes of hell. Taking in all different themes and settings, as you yourself take an audition for their callback year. Legends Party, Vampire Club & Eden Manor

Starting with The Legends Party, it was surreal to be with the Mack family, partners and friends celebrating the anniversary of the event. With a welcome reception, drinks and even a special show for Michael Mack, who was given a key from the cast to open the terror realm of the event. We had a private dinner in the Greek tavern, with exclusive videos, talks and interviews celebrating Traumatica. At the end, we were able to head into the event and try some of the mazes before close.

This then led on to experiencing Vampire Club once more. Taking over the Poseidon ride station and transforming it into a nightclub blows our minds every time. The entertainment inside had Marc Terenzi and Leon Fuller providing songs, plus other circus acts, with the rest of the crew on the bar tops or stage podiums at the back, giving out free shots and blasting flamethrowers into the crowd. It feels like a lucid dream at points. The lighting, the performance and the setting are just perfect, and getting the opportunity one last time to enjoy Vampire Club won’t be forgotten in a hurry!

On the Saturday night, we were also invited to try Eden Manor, the after hours lounge bar which is exclusive to those who buy the Psycho Pass ticket this year. This experience has very little info online, with no pictures or details. We found out your phone is taken from you before you can step inside, and that makes sense. Inside, we were treated to more performances from the cast, this time headlined by Cadaverous Black, the main new creature in the Traumatica story for 2026. Up close illusion acts, circus performance and cabaret singing all featured in a brand new show they designed, which was very much enjoyed, before a party with a live DJ took over the rest of the evening. Even the team came out and partied with us too!

Overall, Traumatica has so much to cover in just a few hours, but everything you experience is quality, horrifying and beyond supernatural. For those wanting intense mazes and true scares, Murderdome and Day One are for you. For those wanting something unique, The Hill, Dark Remains and The Hotel will keep you on your toes. And finally, for those who want pure enjoyment, the shows, after hours experiences and the roaming characters will not disappoint. Every angle of Traumatica has been thought about and it is worthy of being a 5 star event and a true homage to Halloween.

A huge thank you to the team at Traumatica for kindly inviting us. They invited us to The Legends Party on the Friday evening and put us up in Hotel Colosseo for our stay. We purchased our own tickets for the second night to make sure we had enough time to enjoy the event on our terms. They also provided us with entry into Eden Manor so we could experience the full Traumatica package.

The event is running throughout October and we can only recommend it makes your list of visits abroad this Halloween. Tickets and more information can be found on their website, and to take a little more of the event in, check out our TikToks for a sneak peek inside their freak show.
