Bobbejaanland is a theme park located in Belgium and opened in 1961. Back then, it was mainly focused on water attractions and performance spaces compared to how it is today. Currently, it’s run by the Parque Reunidos group, who operate a number of other amusement parks such as Movie Park Germany, Moriongate Dubia and Parque Warner Madrid.

We got to Bobbejaanland by driving, as it was a part of our multi day trip. It was easy to locate using the satnav and we had no issues. Tickets can be purchased online or on the day, but it is good to note that guests under 1 meter can enter for free! Prices do vary but can be purchased for as little as €24.90 per adult, but on the day it could cost €42.90, so always buy in advance. Other group offers are available alongside a yearly membership.

Land Of Legends

With the addition of Fury, the nearby area and existing attractions received an upgrade and new theme, Land of Legends. It appears to focus on the different elements associated with the different colours for wind, earth, fire and water. The main area features a great central plaza with ‘portals’ for each attraction spread around in a semi-circle, which we really liked the idea of. Typhoon is one of the first ever Gerstlauer Eurofighter coasters featuring a steep drop and several inversions, it’s a bit of a rough experience, but exhilarating nonetheless. Sledge Hammer is a giant frisbee attraction spinning around whilst swinging on a giant pendulum, it was great fun and had excellent views overlooking Fury (if you weren’t too dizzy). Naiads Waters is a small water play area for children featuring stepping stones with water fountains and a mini splash zone.

We were surprised by the number of attractions at Bobbejaanland, every corner of the park seemed to have some kind of attraction, some more obvious than others, so be sure to look around as you surely don’t want to miss Horse Pedalo, the self pedalling monorail (with a lift hill!?), or El Paso Special the shooting dark ride featuring numerous animatronics. The park features other unique attractions such as King Kong, where your carriage gets picked up by the giant monster and tilted from side to side; whilst not that thrilling, it’s a great spectacle to watch. Besides Fury and Typhoon there are 6 other rollercoasters at the park including a powered coaster, spinning coaster and even a suspended coaster. Sadly during our visit The Forbidden Caves which we had heard great things about was closed for maintenance, however we still found more than enough to do for the day.
