Legoland Deutschland Resort is a Legoland park located in the southern region of Germany, located nearby Munich & Stuttgart. Since opening over 20 years ago, the park has expanded and grown to be one of the most popular theme parks in Germany. The resort offers adventures for the younger audience in the park and outside with rides, activities and immersive hotel stays through its season, usually lasting between April through to November.
Part of the Merlin group, The Legoland theme parks are some of the most popular that are visited across the globe. Legoland parks can be found in the UK, America and even Dubia, all themed to the Lego products and themes they offer and targeted to the family audience.
Legoland Deutschland requires over 1000 staff year round to keep the 68 attractions, hotels and the rest of the park operating. With over 57 million Lego bricks found at the resort, you will find many creative designs in a well kept, family loving park. For those who have visited more than one Legoland theme park, you can see many differences across them, all having unique, stand out features to them.
For 2023, the park have expanded with a brand themed area being Lego Mythica, offering several new attractions and even a brand new rollercoaster. Our visit includes covering this brand new area and some of the best features from our adventure.
Travel & Costs
Travelling to Legoland Deutschland has never been easier. For guests travelling from the UK, you can catch a flight to either Stuttgart airport or Munich airport, both being a 60 to 90 minute drive from the location. If unable to get a hire car, you can get a train and bus service to the local stop being Gunzburg. With the efficient public transport service in Germany, you will find yourself at the resort is no time at all.
On our trip, we took a flight to Munich airport and then hired a car from the airport to drive. You do have to pay for parking, which is charged at €6 and can be purchased online to save time during your visit. Everything was easy to sort and through the website, you can toggle the settings to English for bookings on hotel stays and tickets.
Tickets to the resort cost €64 on the day, so it is highly recommended you find an offer prior to visiting. Right now in the summer, there is a discount on if purchased online for €39 instead, so a huge saving!
New for 2023 – Lego Mythica
Brand new for 2023 is the Lego Mythica world, a brand dimension where a child’s imagination creates a new Lego creature and it comes to life in this realm of creativity. Behind the portal you will find wonder, thrills and adventures for the whole family. You can soar through the skies with the Sky Lion Maximum on the wing roller coaster, or take on the Fire & Ice drop towers, or you can build away in the CreaZone.
Obviously the new coaster is the highlight attraction for the new area being Maximus, The Guardian’s Flight! This being a small scale wing coaster where you ride with Maximum across the Mythica lands, reaching a height of just 17 meters. It was a thrilling fun coaster and is a perfect size to introduce the younger thrill seekers to rollercoasters. You still need to be 1.2m to ride and minimum age of 6 to take flight on the world’s first Legoland wing coaster.
We managed to get many rides during our visit and it provided a short fun adventure which even includes an 1 inversion. There is nothing like this ride around so it has a new audience within the park and target audience that visit.
Other Thrilling Attractions
Outside the new area, Legoland Deutschland offers plenty of other fun coasters and thrilling rides for a mixture of guests. Starting with the Fire Dragon, this is the medieval area of the park as you jump on the back of the dragon and take a breathtaking journey, swooping around the trees and bushes where you may even come across wolves!
For those not tall enough or too scared for the mighty dragon, you can ride Dragon Hunt, a smaller coaster to build confidence.
A stand out coaster is The Great Lego Race found in the Lego X-treme section of the park. In this fast race, you take sharp turns and big dips through the track that is 18 meters in the air. We found this quite fun and a thrilling coaster for the family.
Outside the rollercoasters, you have some really unique thrill rides such as Power Builder in the Lego City area. This thrill machine is a robotic arm which you can choose the setting on from easy to extreme, where it will spin, flip, dive and rotate you in every single direction it can. An attraction for the older audience for sure.
You also have Temple X-pedition found in Pharaoh’s Land, which is a treasure hunt through the darkness in the temple. A classic shoot em up ride where you can spin your cars 360 degrees to try and score points all around you in themed settings. This is a real competitive game for adults and kids!
Lloyd’s Spinjitzu Spinner is another extreme attraction in the Ninjago World, where you can spin like a master in a wheel that goes forwards and backwards. That is a full 360 degrees turn, so everything can get dizzy pretty quickly but, you are in full control with the settings in your spinner, so you can slow it down and do as much or as little as you wish.
Also in the same area is Ninjago The Ride, which is similar to the other ones built like at Legoland Windsor, as you go through multiple rooms and use your hand to score points using the interactive screens in many different rooms and worlds.
The Rest of Legoland Deutschland
There is so much more than just rides at Legoland Deutschland, with there being lots of funny and hidden Lego creatures and figures around. An example would be when we spotted a Lego Pigeon hidden on the medieval castle. There are lots of activities taking place throughout the year, from the Summer Show from July to September and even a Lego Parade. We didn’t catch these during our visit as these are only showing during the summer, they seem like unique shows compared to the other Legolands we have so far visited.
Outside the theme park, you can find a number of accommodation options, from the Ninjago Quarter or Pirate Island hotel, or a cheaper option being the Legoland Campsite. They have entertainment on in the day and evening, from the bowling centre and playgrounds, you can play a fun round of pirate minigolf which we played and have had so much fun on, a great course to add on to your day. There is also a high ropes course and a hot air balloon ride, so you can return time and time again and have a new lego adventure each time. Too much for one visit for sure.

Overall, Legoland Deutschland is an impressive and stand out Lego theme park. It is easy to get to and is fairly priced compared to some of the other local Legoland’s across Europe. With the new addition for 2023, it keeps on offering more thrills and more exciting developments that keeps the park fresh and fun, meaning you will want to return year upon year. The park was well kept and had a great offering for the family audience. Even for adults who may not be able to ride every single attraction, there is enough to keep you there for the day.
Dean thought; “Legoland Deutschland is much more appealing to all age ranges compared to the other parks as it even caters for thrillseekers with several rides that go upside down. It’s great to see a larger scale coaster at the park, which is good fun. My personal highlights of the park are the robot arms and the Lego factory tour.”
Austyn mentioned; “Whilst this was not my first visit to the theme park, it offered a lot of fun and it was great to return for the new area. The coaster was small but offered a decent amount of thrill for an adult, so I can imagine for the younger audience this will be perfect for them. The whole park is just nice to be in and the smaller attractions around the park are fun to return to and experience. It is very different to Legoland Windsor and makes for a nice new setting compared to it. “
