Toybox of Terror took place in a very unusual setting, utilizing an inflatable maze-like structure to build the terrors within. With the creepy clowns and toy characters taunting us from the very start, the actors did very well in getting jump scares using limited space and being effectively creepy around the corners. They were interactive and funny, too, making us cycle through all the emotions while inside their playhouse. Due to the space and structure, special effects were going to be limited, even more so on a budget; however, this didn’t impact our enjoyment of this one, as we had so much fun and loved what they accomplished.

The Fort was actually our first maze of the night, and it was built slap-bang in the middle of the event. While from the outside it didn’t look like much, inside the actors really used their space to maximize scares and get to you. From gaps in the fences through to secret pathways, they found their way to be surrounding you for most of the maze. The audio and lighting were limited here, but with it being in a field, we can see why it was restricted, though we would have liked a little more. However, the cast did great at landing the finale scare and building intensity as you walked through, with many groups ending up running out the exit!

Shadowbound was the most interesting maze of the night, with the attraction being set inside one shipping container. The concept was clever, as one group steps in and follows the zigzag route down to the end. Here you have to solve a puzzle before heading back, which was simple but pretty challenging in the moment, given the scary setting around you. Unfortunately, this didn’t have a storyline, which made it its weakest feature, but they did have some scares to make up for it. While you don’t see a single soul during your time inside, they are very clever at getting the few scares they can.
