Europabad Karlsruhe Waterpark 2024 Review

3 August 2024

Europbad Karlsruhe

Experience the thrills & fun at Europabad Karlsruhe, the waterpark complex that can be found in Karlsruhe. This is a city in the southwestern part of Germany and you can find Stuttgart & Mannheim close by. Experience the unique water slides and adventure pools, relax in the sauna or feel good in the spa area. This place has been open since 2008 and with its park mascot, Kai the shark, have won many awards and welcomed many customers over the last 15+ years.

You can find lots to do at Europabad Karlsruhe, with a large selection of water slides from body slides, drop capsules and even wild water rapids. You have multiple pools, indoor and outdoors, a large sauna complex (nude and non nude sections), a spa area with treatments and a food area for food & drinks.

Tickets do range depending on how long you wish to stay and what you wish to experience. For the main adventure pool, which includes all of the thrilling slides, you are looking at €19 for 2 hours, with a 4 hour rate and full day rate also available. This is also similar to the sauna complex with this costing €26 for 2 hours, with a 4 hour and full date rate also available. They can be linked together and other discounts for under 18s, younger children and family rates can also be purchased. You can also rent a bathrobe and towel for a small fee.

Below we take a look at the thrilling waterslides in more detail and our thoughts of the complex…

SKY SURFER STANDING SLIDE

Sky Surfer is one of the most unique slides in the world. The reason for that is it is one of the few slides which you slide standing up! That’s right, you take on the slide in a completely different way as you slide along standing up as you twist & turn your way to the end. With it being 61m long, you actually have to break two rules you usually cannot do on any water slide, that being standing up and taking a run up! This then allows you to glide down the track with the water sprays keeping the slide wet to keep you sliding down. The reason for its name? Well that’s cause they want to see your best surfing poses as you come down of course!

With only a handful of stand up slides being around in Europe, it is great to see one here at Europabad Karlsruhe. If you’re looking for a new way to ride a slide, then we recommend you come for this stand out slide.

WHITEWATER RIVER

One of our favourite types of slides is rapid slides. So we love when waterparks like here have one and this one is not for the faint hearted. With it being 100m and having some of the strongest currents on a rapids slide, the name Whitewater River sums it up nicely. As you start gaining speed, you get thrown from side to side as you take the corners and halfway down, you have to be lucky to make it to the safe side with a small pool, otherwise you’ll continue down the rapid path. With a few stop sections, you hardly have time to catch your breath as you continue down its winding route.

We absolutely love these rapids and with the speed and rough nature of this experience, we managed to get some rather unusual photos during our slide down. We went down these rapids time & time again during our visit and cannot wait to return to ride these once more in the future!

TARANTULA, AQUAROCKET & MORE

Aquarocket is the longest 10 seconds of your life as you enter the capsule and drop 14m below before twisting round to the exit. This is also self operated, so you get ready and press the button to start the countdown all by yourself!

Tarantula Adventure Slide is a spacebowl slide which you enter into the spiders nest and spin around the web before plummeting out the bottom. With it having some great theming inside and outside the slide, it really is a standout spacebowl slide.

The Green Viper slide is one of the body slides and takes you on a twisting journey with lots of special effects and tube effects. There is also a tire slide, which you take a seat on a tire and following the winding route to the bottom. Both these slides are great experiences for a wide range of guests, as we seen many families enjoying these during our visit. All the slides had minimal waits, with the longest being 5-10 minutes during the busy times.

@thrillnation this 170m long rubber ring slide has lots of cool lighting features on the way down its winding course... do you think it looks fun? #waterslide #aquapark #waterpark #amusementrides #europabad #germany #deutschland #karlsruhe ♬ Houdini - Eminem

Outside of the slides, we did enjoy a visit into the sauna world and got to explore the wonderful large outdoor space as well as indoors. They have so many different pools and saunas in this area alone. A perfect way to relax for sure. For obvious reasons, we couldn’t take any photos or videos inside of this area, but we would recommend checking it out and pairing that with your visit for the slides.

Depending on how long you are looking to stay for, you can stop and have a drink or some food at the café and cafeteria they have. They have a range of different food and drink options, so you won’t be disappointed.

Open 364 days a year, this is a waterpark you wish you had local to you and we are jealous of anybody living in Karlsruhe, as we would love to visit this complex every day if we could. With it having a great range of slides and pools, we would recommend visiting when nearby, if that is a visit in Stuttgart or in the nearby Southwest region of Germany, then get yourself here.

A huge thank you to the team at Karlsruhe Europabad who worked with us during our visit. They allowed us exclusive permission to film inside the waterpark and slides which is usually not allowed. They did provide us with free entry and a few goodies, such as the KAI shark plushie and water bottle, which can all be purchased in the shop.

We personally love this place and look forward to returning in the near future for sure!
