Goostrey Graveyards Review ()

INTRODUCTION

After a successful first year, the second year of Goostrey Graveyards is a go! This brand new event located in Cheshire is ready to unleash the horrors on the public once more throughout the month of October. Coming back with their 5 scare attractions, with updates and surprises along the way, it is great to see it return once more.

Goostrey Graveyards is running during selected nights this October, with some family friendly slots and also 18+ slots, depending on what level of thrill you’re wanting from your evening. Entry gets you unlimited access to the mazes, and as they are still a growing event, you will be guaranteed to go in small, private groups. Costing as little as £29.25 per person, with family tickets and other discounts available too.

We were invited to the preview night on October 3rd to get a first glimpse of their 2026 event…

THE OVERALL EVENT…

WOO – Value for Money | WOO – Uniqueness | BOO – Entertainment

Goostrey Graveyards is really an upcoming event and they have the charm of a small event right now, with their goals and aspirations in the right place. This year, you enter through a corn maze which was spooky alone without any actors. As you exit, you enter a large field space where you’ll find the mazes, a food truck and also a tent to relax in if you’re wanting. On our evening, it was very mild and misty, creating this rather spooky atmosphere on the field.

Goostrey Graveyards has the price point perfect for what they are doing right now. The value for money is great, getting 5 mazes, unlimited access and in small groups. Whilst that may increase the wait times just a little, for a better experience it is so worth it whilst they can do this. As a new event, they haven’t been able to add entertainment outside of the mazes from what we can see, meaning you are waiting around on a field, and if you’re done with the attractions, then there is nothing more for you to do. Overall, it is a unique event with some unique attractions and is one to really watch as they expand in future years.

Toybox of Terrors

WOO – Actor Performance

Toybox of Terrors has a great team inside this year. From a range of mocking clowns that are taking every opportunity to get in your way in a small maze, they really are the standout.

BOO – Lighting & SFX

As only a small attraction, there isn’t any use of special effects as such, and that’ll be due to budget restraints. There is some lighting inside this inflatable attraction but again, it’s simple and more guides the way so you can see.

WOO – Enjoyment

This was very much enjoyed from the moment we stepped in until we ran out. The whole experience comes together as a great horror maze.

The Hunt

WOO – Actor Performance

Inside The Hunt the actors have done so well to do what they have to do all night. As it’s not your traditional maze, the cast have to be active and quick, making you run and chase you to deliver here. Each of the characters were loud and interactive and didn’t make it easy to escape their forest.

BOO – Lighting & SFX

As they are based in a field and forest, this attraction is built within the trees and therefore, outside of a speaker and some basic lights, there isn’t much more they can do right now. We understand why this is and hope they can find more creative effects and lighting sequences in the future.

WOO – Concept

There is truly nothing like The Hunt. This experience makes you put on a velcro belt and attach rugby tags to your side, with the simple goal of getting to the end with them still attached. As we already mentioned, the cast don’t make that easy, and the thrill of being chased in the forest is unhinged.

The Forgotten Fort

WOO – Actor Performance

The Forgotten Fort is another maze where the inhabitants inside are chaotic, crazy and ready to make you feel uncomfortable. They came through fences and tunnels and everywhere in-between. The team inside really did send shivers down our spine.

BOO – Audio

This maze had no audio or sound effects and therefore, outside of the actors’ screams and dialogue, there wasn’t anything else audio wise inside.

WOO – Screams

We were left running out of this maze. Whilst it may be simple in terms of layout and what they can achieve with a traditional scare maze, with the silence of the audio and quietness of the field, the chainsaw felt louder than ever!

Restless Waters

WOO – Actor Performance

Restless Waters has a fun and interactive team who are creepy within the lighting and lake setting. They are hard to miss and even harder to get away from, and without them, Restless Waters would be pretty bland.

BOO – Audio

Another maze that has no audio at all, and we hope to see it added to make the walk a little more creepy or intense in future years.

WOO – Enjoyment

As much as this was probably the simplest attraction they had, we still had a lot of fun during our walk along the lake. It is purely actors and lights, which creates a basic form of scare maze.

Shadowbound

WOO – Concept

Shadowbound is certainly a different attraction to the rest of the mazes. Taking place in a shipping container, you must make your way through narrow corridors and exit out the far end. Last year it had a puzzle you had to solve before making your way back. This year this has been removed for a new ending, which we equally love.

BOO – Audio

As you may have gathered, there is a lack of audio once more, but there is some caused by the actors naturally with the banging and scraping inside this maze. With the dark setting, it does work, but having a base layer would give it what it is missing.

WOO – Costume & Makeup

Whilst you don’t see any actors in the first half of the maze, the one you do get to see was horrifying in many different ways. It was unexpected to see and a highlight of the maze.

Our night went by so quick at Goostrey Graveyards, and although they have nothing new for the second year, their first year was very ambitious, and it’s great for them to have a year to just learn, adapt and master what they have. The event has a lot to still do to grow and become the best version of itself, however everything takes time, and we love the size of it right now and don’t take it for granted whilst we have it like this. With unique mazes and attractions, a unique location and a great acting team, you can feel the passion behind the event.

A huge thank you to the team for inviting us to join them on their preview night. They did provide us with complimentary tickets in return for our content, and we have shared our honest feedback in this review.

If you’re wanting to see and experience this event for yourself, then make sure you go and support them by buying tickets directly. If you want to see a little more before you go, make sure you watch our video!
