Post Mortem clueQuest Review ()

INTRODUCTION

clueQuest has been running escape rooms in London since 2013, with their spy themed missions based near King’s Cross St Pancras. Over 500,000 players have taken on their games, which are all set in the same universe, with agents, villains and secret locations to uncover. It is one of the top rated escape room experiences in London, with over 6,000 reviews across multiple platforms.

For Halloween, they have launched something a little different. Found at 169-171 Caledonian Road, just 10 minutes from King’s Cross, their Halloween escape room is Post Mortem, a horror mission that is only running for a limited time.

Post Mortem is strictly 18+, with teams of 2 to 7 players getting 60 minutes to solve the case. You are the replacements, recruited into clueQuest’s Forensic Science Department after the disappearance of Agent River. With Doctor Monroe acting suspiciously and contact with the lab lost, you need to gain access to the Forensics Lab through the doctor’s living quarters and find evidence linking to her disappearance, before he returns.

The mission is only available from 5th October to 8th November 2026, so you will want to book sooner rather than later if you want to catch it. Tickets start from £37 per person. Take a look about what we thought about this new seasonal escape game…

About our experience…

clueQuest is always designing the next best experience and when we heard they were entering into the Halloween world with their first horror escape room, we knew we had to get involved. Usually, clueQuest is a spy organisation hiding as an escape room in London, perfect for families who are looking to help save the world across their fictional universe they have created. They have 5 rooms to explore in their venue, but outside that they have paper games to play at home plus an outdoor experience too. They have dabbled in Halloween experiences before, but this was for play at home and never on the scale of creating a full Halloween room.

Speaking with the team, Post Mortem was designed by the game makers themselves, meaning for the first time, passionate hosts of the games have had their first opportunity to create something for the players. They have been given one of the rooms, Plan52, to alter and change as they wished to make something new and exciting. Post Mortem is 18+ and this purely is due to the graphic visuals and audio used. With them usually catering to families, it’s to highlight that this experience isn’t for them and to stay clear unless you’re prepared.

Post Mortem

WOO – storytelling | WOO – enjoyment | BOO –  costume & Makeup

Post Mortem started in the waiting room, as after you checked in, you were given a survey to fill out as a team. Here, they had questions asking for your teams strength and weaknesses, plus some rather unusual general knowledge questions. After a quick chat, the story begins and we were taken to the room. We had an hour to find out what Dr Monroe was doing and where all the other staff had disappeared too when stepping into the lab. As you delve deeper into trying to solve the puzzles, the story comes more alive, as you find out what you’re doing has consequences and that you would have to be careful with every choice, as you had no idea what would happen.

The weakest feature is the costume and makeup but that is purely because you don’t see anybody in the room. That’s not to say someone isn’t in there, creating scares and moments of tension however, you just don’t see them. Or at least, we didn’t. So we couldn’t rate for this section. It would be good for them to develop from this and maybe have a costume character that starts or maybe that comes in during your experience, to add a little more to the story or scares that they are wanting to create.

As an escape room, we enjoyed it so much. They have managed to change up an existing room completely, with only some of the existing room features that can’t be changed remained. We actually played this room back in January however, as Post Mortem, it’s completely different. From the puzzle mechanics to the overall flow of the room, it just worked flawlessly. Whilst the puzzles were on the harder side, we managed to solve most alone, but with a little nudge we managed to solve the ones we couldn’t with a helping hand.

clueQuest have managed to excel in creating a horror escape room. From blending the spy organisation front into the horror world and designing a pretty gruesome room which has plenty of jump scares, excitement and story. They have always managed to create a high quality experience for their guests and it only continues with this limited edition themed room.

A huge thank you to the team for inviting us to play. They did provide us with a complimentary experience, which 3 of us played. This was in return for our honest feedback and content of our experience.

Post Mortem is a limited time experience and is only available from 5th October to 8th November 2026. With limited slots left, if you want to see how clueQuest do horror, then don’t hesitate and book asap!
