THE OVERALL EVENT…
WOO – F&B + Retail | WOO – operations | BOO – Entertainment
It was great to get over to see what PrimEvil is doing in 2026. This was only our second ever time to the event, with our first time being in 2024. Not much has changed in the way of their lineup however, there is one new maze and plenty of improvements made inside the existing attractions.
Our night began heading into the scream park on quite a wet and windy evening, however the rain held off for us just after we entered which we are so thankful for. We were able to enjoy their scream hub area which is mainly outdoors. It consists of a small stage which a band plays on throughout the night and some food and drink vendors. They also have some of the roaming characters here, shock chairs and other treat goodies. The main bar also splits, for those buying VIP getting a separate area too. The food and beverage was worth noting as whilst the hub isn’t the largest, they offered a really nice range and selection to choose from, some we’ve not really seen at other parks this Halloween.
Unfortunately we found the entertainment to be the weakest feature for PrimEvil. As they just gave a band that sometimes features but they do have to take breaks. It would be great to see this expand and more offered compared to other scream parks now expanding into this. That said, we have no problems with their operations for the evening, with queues moving quickly, no long queues seen, fast track getting nearly instant access and it all flowed well.
One point to highlight that PrimEvil do really well is having themed characters as the hosts of each maze. We don’t see this nearly enough across the UK scare scene but this event is one of literally less than a handful that delivers this and does it extremely well. On top of this, each maze came with a double story introduction as such due to having these hosts, which was nice to see the consistency across the whole event and made the storytelling a lot stronger compared to other events and years at PrimEvil.
Mayhem Manor
WOO – Theming
Mayhem Manor had a lot of theming inside and as an attraction that has been around some time, they have managed to create a very good looking, quality manor home. This more resembles a home and house but for this year, they’ve changed it to a clinic, which uses similar sets.
BOO – Actor Utilisation
Unfortunately, it seemed the actors were a little light in this attraction and some of them were limited to the rooms they were in. We had a scene with a lift attendant and a chef, where these characters would look out of place in other rooms for example. Outside of here, it would of been great to have a more active cast that moved around the spots however, it is quite a large maze for them to cover.
WOO – Actor Performance
The overall team did great, with the standout performances having to go to the team at the front and first room. They managed to really get us involved in the whole experience and with us never having to read the terms and conditions of entry on one leg before!
Werehouse 51: Toxic Mutation
WOO – Enjoyment
Another maze we enjoyed in its entirety. If that was the comedy introductions, the heavily themed first rooms or the chaotic strobe scene where we had no idea where we were or where we were going. It came together as a fun attraction overall.
BOO – Lighting & SFX
It did seem to lack on special effects in general. With it having some smoke and strobes, it didn’t have anything else that kind of stood out or made it unique. With the toxic mutation element of this maze we were hopeful for some cool effects to showcase this sort of thing, or even anything to make it more like a warehouse going wrong with chemicals spilling. It could be more effect heavy and that would stand out more to us.
WOO – Storytelling
Werehouse 51 had a funny introduction story, with you being hired to be the new staff for the building after the loss of staff before. Dealing with toxic chemicals, we had to be careful to make sure we didn’t also have any unfortunate actors. The two managers’ delivery at the start was comedic, informative and memorable. It continues through the first half of the maze for sure and it’s great to see.
Circus of Terror
WOO – Enjoyment
This clown maze delivered on a lot of fun elements throughout your route. They were terrifying but the actors kept it fun with the sinister, adding lots of interaction along your journey. Clown mazes are expected to be more enjoyed unless you fear them and this did exactly that.
BOO – storytelling
As a clown maze, it did lack story as such. They do have a character outside telling you a story prior to stepping inside however, it just didn’t feel meaningful or memorable. Also, it just wasn’t continued through which we understand clown mazes are more simple but it does make storytelling their weakest feature.
WOO – Lighting & SFX
Circus of Terror had so many special effects and what’s great is they had elements we didn’t see in other clown mazes of a similar calibre. The standout effect has to be the circular spinning floor, which is a great element for a fun house and works even better in a scare maze with a clown tormenting you on. They had bouncy floors, mirror rooms, slanted walkways and that is just a few of the cool effects they used. With colourful lighting and the occasional dark and dim routes, it paired with the terror they created.
The Crypt
WOO – Screams
The Crypt really ramped up the scares inside. The team of nuns and the possessed church gave us jump scare after jump scare, with characters lurking in the shadows and dark spaces. Outside of that, they had clever animatronics making up some of the scares and the creepy looking sets building that tension and eeriness this maze has. Whatever they’ve done this year just works for the scares.
BOO – Audio
Whilst this maze did feature audio, we felt it wasn’t as standout as every other element in our rating system. It wasn’t that memorable and didn’t add to the fear or tension compared to other mazes this Halloween season.
WOO – Costume & Makeup
The costume and makeup element in The Crypt delivered to be noticeable and a stand out point. The nuns and priest outside the maze were obvious, alongside the costumes of the inhabitants inside. They did their job to send fear into everyone’s souls.
Forest of fear: The Offering
WOO – Enjoyment
This maze was a lot of fun from start to finish. Starting with a lot of character-led mini stories along a long pathway, they made us laugh and built up a story about someone who would eventually be offered as part of the ritual. We met one of the funniest set of characters we have seen this scare season, being a pair of Morris dancers, which is so unusual!
BOO – Screams
Whilst the screams were limited due to the comedy elements taking over more for us. They still had moments of spooks and jump scares but probably the tamest out of the bunch on our night.
WOO – Actor performance
For the enjoyment to happen, the actors had to deliver on their part which they did flawlessly here. They were very good at keeping the stories in detail but short enough to keep everyone flowing through the maze. They played their characters greatly and as the maze got more dark and spooky, they delivered on sacrificing someone for the offering.
Route 666
WOO – Actor Performance
Route 666 cast was great, creating some top scares and fun across your route. Whilst some told a story and others were just out to get scares, the cast interacted with us in great detail. Dean even got terrorised across the whole route with a taser which left him running out the exit and the actor probably had the best time of his night.
BOO – Audio
Route 666 was a little quiet at points and the audio didn’t make much if any impact to our experience. With the long pathway and route, we would love to see audio be featured more and have it build tension as you’re walking through the key scenes and fill the gaps between the scenes with characters.
WOO – Storytelling
This introduction really stood out, with it having a clear story and setting out what was going to happen, what you were going to see and what you needed to do. It was simple and clearcut, which built up along the way and came together as a maze. One of the better storytelling mazes that flowed all the way through.
Overall, PrimEvil delivered a fun, scary and entertaining night out in Norfolk. Returning for the first time since 2024, we found an event that has kept its strong lineup, with one new maze and plenty of improvements inside the existing attractions, meaning even returning guests will have plenty of new moments to discover. The themed hosts at each maze remain one of the best touches in the UK scare scene, and with queues moving quickly all night, the whole evening flowed really well.
Whilst the entertainment could do with expanding, the mazes themselves more than carried the night, with Circus of Terror standing out as our top maze of the visit. PrimEvil continues to be a scream park well worth the trip, and we can’t wait to see what they do next.
A huge thank you to the PrimEvil team for inviting us to come along and see what they have created for 2026. They did provide us with 4 VIP tickets in return for our honest feedback and content.
PrimEvil runs for 13 nights, 16th to 18th, 21st to 25th and 27th to 31st October 2026, so if you haven’t been yet, there is still time to catch it this Halloween.
