Stourbridge Scare Maze is a lengthy maze, with most groups tending to take anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes to escape. Our journey starts with a quick safety briefing and a video to set the story, which follows the main character, Dr. Bloodborne, and the unspeakable horrors he has created. New for this year, a hacker takes over the system, attempting to guide you to safety.

The story was strong at the start; however, it did get lost towards the middle and end, so we hope they work on tying the narrative together for future years.

There are so many cool special effects inside the maze, from plenty of drop windows through to spark machines, smoke machines, spark boxes, and other cool animatronics. These all add another layer of horror outside of the set pieces and characters, ensuring the fear is set to the highest level.

As we know from previous visits, the scare factor was always going to be high. We were left running out the exit and drenched in sweat from all the screaming and terror we just endured. There are so many different themes inside, and we think most groups will find different parts scary, whether that’s the creepy clowns in the sewers, the zombies hiding in the hallways, or even the nuns in the church.
