INTRODUCTION
Tulleys Shocktoberfest is back for 2026 and this time, it is celebrating 30 years of screams! Found at Tulleys Farm in Crawley, it is home to 12 haunts, a large entertainment schedule, street food, bars and live shows, with plenty to cover during your visit.
For 2026, they have added two new haunts to the lineup, Appleton County Farm and Appleton Sawmill, while The Cellar Returns is back once more, joining haunts like Electrick Circus and Doomtown. There is also a brand new show for 2026, House of Hades by the Fuel Girls.
With 12 haunts to get through, plus everything else going on around the park, you will want to plan your night to make sure you fit it all in.
Outside of the haunts, there is plenty to keep you entertained. You can catch street theatre, live music, DJs and live shows throughout the evening, all wrapped up in a friendly festival atmosphere. When you need a break from the scares, there are 2 food courts to choose from, plus 3 bars for the over 18s, and free car parking is included too.
The gates open 2nd October, with the event running for 26 nights. The park opens from 4:30pm, with the mazes opening from 5:30pm and running until 11:30pm, before the park closes by midnight. THE OVERALL EVENT…
WOO – Variety & Quality | WOO – entertainment | BOO – operations
Tulleys Shocktoberfest is an absolute mammoth of a Halloween event. Every year this place seems to grow bigger and better and now it becomes a new task to try and get everything covered. This year, we’ve attended twice before writing our review. We visited on the press night, which was their opening night, to try to get everything completed, however we failed and only got 7 mazes done alongside 2 of the major shows. We also visited on a Tuesday and with the help of a guided host for the evening, we managed to complete just about everything we wanted to.
With them having 12 mazes for 2026, multiple shows, lots of different bars and tonnes of roaming characters, every corner is a new surprise. The variety they have is beyond what any other event in the UK can offer. Each maze is a different theme, from a haunted hayride, a creepy cottage, a prison, witches and even nuns, every horror style and character is included in some form. The quality of the whole event is premium, with them lucky to have the infrastructure to keep the attraction standing and being able to add to the site year upon year.
Operations is always a questionable topic and discussion with Tulleys. Due to the scale of the scream park, it naturally has a larger audience that attends and the park has opened for such long hours to accommodate. They have also offered different fast track options to help accommodate for that also, but it is seen that most nights the queues can grow in excess of 60 minutes. Favourites like Purgatory and the Haunted Hayride have reached over 60 minutes during peak nights. Obviously they have plenty to keep you busy outside but it is like a busy theme park day every night they open, so worth noting to make the most of your visit.
Celebrating 30 years of screams, they have made sure they’ve pulled out all the stops for this anniversary. Starting from selling pumpkins to now running the largest scare event in Europe, meaning they have to find new additions all the time. Entertainment is a big piece now to any night out in the UK and they’ve continued to push this, with several bands, DJs, circus shows and character shows in circulation. Now for 2026, they’ve built a brand new venue and show with The Fuel Girls called House of Hades. All of the entertainment is world class, a lot of fun and very entertaining.
House of Hades
House of Hades is the brand new show Tulleys Shocktoberfest have created for their 30th anniversary. This new show is with The Fuel Girls, who are known for doing some crazy shows for Halloween Horror Nights over the years and now, they’ve made their way to the UK for something really special. Hosted in a brand new venue, with the venue being just shy of a million pounds to build, it is dedicated to this headline show. The show runs multiple times a night, lasting around 20 minutes. You can find it at 6pm, 7:30pm, 9pm and 10:30pm. In between the main show, you also have a DJ playing and a sax player too for added entertainment.
The show itself is quite a spectacle. As expected, it has plenty of fire, stunts and seductive dancing. It combines so much together to a great backing track and tells a small story along the way. How much fire they use each show is just insane, with you standing in the front row you can feel the heat. The stage itself is grand, large in scale and impossible to miss. For a brand new addition, bravo Tulleys Shocktoberfest for this as we expect it to be one of the best shows to see in the UK this Halloween!
Appleton County Farm
WOO – Storytelling
Having a detailed backstory online linking to the previous attraction The Carving, was great to see it all flow during the time in the maze too. For those not wanting a detailed story, it was clear enough to just enjoy but those wanting a bit more, could have that.
BOO – lighting & SFX
The attraction is a mix of indoors and outdoors however, it is dimly lit when it’s dark and overall, had limited lighting compared to the other attractions. Same with the special effects, there didn’t seem to be many that appeared compared to other mazes at Shocktoberfest.
WOO – Actor utilisation
The cast had some great sections to cover multiple different areas, allowing them to target the same group multiple times and in different positions. They could appear and disappear whenever they wanted and we loved that.
Appleton Saw Mill
WOO – Actor Utilisation
Again with this maze being shorter and new, but has allowed them to work out the best way to use the actors. They have multiple routes to get into different sections and the team felt the right size too.
BOO – Concept
Using a saw mill and for it to be a second part of an attraction isn’t really a good concept. It’s a great addition and attempt however knowing it’s new, we would have loved for a wild different idea here instead of just using the saws it had and built around that.
WOO – Actor Performance
The actors were really energetic and creepy during our run through. There was a lot of chainsaws and with them came a lot of intimidation and chaos, which we felt.
Doom Town
WOO – Theming
Doomtown has always had high quality theming, with a real town facade and fronts, a street, right down to the traffic lights and curbs. No detail feels missed here and is shown throughout.
BOO – Lighting & SFX
There is plenty of lighting and special effects in Doomtown however, for how well themed and how strong the maze is in other fields, it definitely is the improving point that could help bring it to life in another way.
WOO – Concept
The concept of stepping into a video game and the retro overlay, along with the zipping along the street, gives a unique experience just overall.
Electrick Circus
WOO – Lighting & SFX
This clown maze has all of the effects you would want to see. From vibrating floors, squeeze cushions, animatronics and more, it keeps with that fun style of the circus theme.
BOO – Storytelling
The storytelling could have been stronger, with it having a pre story before you enter, it kinda fades and just had a typical clown style maze for the rest.
WOO – Enjoyment
We had a lot of fun inside of this maze. With it having the electric overlay to a clown maze, it keeps it different to others and just the overarching nature of a clown maze, is always to be enjoyed.
Haunted Hayride: Route 666
WOO – Actor Performance
Haunted Hayride is a staple part to Tulleys and the characters inside really pull together in their short sections to keep everything fun, enjoyable but still creepy.
BOO – Screams
This is more of a fun style attraction than one that is designed to scare you. Therefore, it wasn’t scary but it does have the odd spook along your way to keep the tension and get the odd scream.
WOO – Audio
This attraction makes full use of audio as you go around. Using narration, sound effects and different themed audio for each zone, it’s clear and very evident it’s there and suits this style of attraction.
Hell-ements
WOO – Lighting & SFx
This is your typical blindfolded maze and therefore without the use of the special effects, it would be pretty boring. The fire and wind elements are super noticeable and the change of rope to chain always throws us off!
BOO – Screams
Unfortunately for us, this isn’t scary. As a long standing maze and how they attempt to get the scares in here, it just feels lacklustre and boring. We hope they can refresh the scares but hooded attractions are hard to master and for us, have never been a favourite.
WOO – Concept
The concept of Hell-Ements is simple but effective. With it linking to the four elements and hell, plus your loss of sight, keeps it different to the rest of the attractions at the event.
Purgatory
WOO – Screams
This maze plunges you straight into darkness and having to use a lantern to guide your way. This means the nuns hidden inside have full control of when they want to be seen and the jump scares just kept coming. They did amazing in moving around, and just appearing from the darkness. Frightening to say the least.
BOO – Audio
As with all the mazes, there was audio throughout however, it just didn’t take a top spot for Purgatory and just wasn’t as memorable as some of the other mazes.
WOO – concept
The concept of Purgatory is unique, allowing it to have the Tulleys style of how a maze flows, with the use of darkness and the use of haunted lantern technology, all combine into a very popular maze.
The Cellar Returns
WOO – Actor performance
With this maze returning after a year hiatus, the inhabitants inside have come back in full terror mode. They were active, terrifying and genuinely felt like they had been locked up for several years before being let out to scare us. There were plenty of actors and managed to get some big scares too.
BOO – concept
This maze has a pretty good concept but is still one of the weaker features for it. There isn’t anything too unique, one of the simpler attractions in certain ways, but compared to the rest of its elements, is the one that stands out as being weakest.
WOO – Screams
As it interlinks with how well the creatures inside were doing, the scares were fantastic. Every corner provided another scream and they managed to just get it right. Whilst the maze remains very similar, the new ending added some new opportunities for scares but otherwise, the maze has this creepy feel which just keeps you on edge as you walk around.
The CHop Shop
WOO – Screams
If you’re scared of chainsaws and strobes then this attraction is pretty terrifying. Each year, the second half of this maze always gets us running and sweating, as chainsaw after chainsaw along a never ending maze section just gets to us. Whilst simple, it produces some of the best scares. The first half also managed to add the creepy factor in, setting it up perfectly for ramping up the terror later on.
BOO – Theming
We do believe the theming in here is just a little short of Tulleys’ standards. As an older maze, we would love to see it refreshed with more theming, especially in the second half which just has blank walls, where it could have artwork or something more to it.
WOO – Actor Performance
The hillbilly family in here have done really well in building the tension and ramping the scares up as you get deeper within. From starting at the garage, then freezer before the main chainsaw section, they have the right atmosphere all the way through.
The Creepy Cottage
WOO – Theming
The Creepy Cottage is the original attraction at Tulleys and therefore, has plenty of theming to make you believe you’re in a genuinely creepy cottage. With different scenes as you walk through, it’s simple but effective.
BOO – Screams
Unfortunately for us, we felt it wasn’t as scary this year compared to other years, it felt like it had a lack of actors and without them, the creepy cottage loses that creepy and terrifying feel it can have.
WOO – Storytelling
With a pre-story as you wait to step in, the story then continues and it’s just simple enough to enjoy. There is nothing too complex or massively in detail for this maze and we think it works well as part of their original attraction.
The Village: Coven of 13
WOO – Screams
The witches are back and their coven is always full of screams. The opening scenes with the laser swamp, the haunted house and then a mini village all add to the various ways they can add to the scares. Sometimes it’s jump scares, otherwise it’s building the terror with their witch chants.
BOO – Concept
As a typical witch maze with some different elements to it, it did come through as our weakest feature. There is only so much that can be done and feels more of a traditional theme than anything unique.
WOO – Actor Performance
Scares always comes hand in hand with the cast pulling out all the stops. They have just mastered some really fantastic moments in here, from hiding, being creepy and just the whole atmospheric moments. Each scene brings something different from this coven and it was very much enjoyed.
Wastelands penitentiary
WOO – Screams
This is a chaotic prison facility and they have some super intimidating inmates who really get up close to you, mock you and absolutely have it out for you. It felt intense in so many moments, before the big build up of the strobe ending scene, which just messes with our mind every year. They managed to get us time after time and leave us pretty terrified.
BOO – lighting & SFX
As a prison maze, we would have hoped for some more special effects to be used. Outside of some strobes and smokes, the rest feels very limited on what they have and could use. The lighting inside is pretty good though and makes up for the lack of effects but it definitely could do with an overhaul of different and new SFX.
WOO – Actor performance
Another cast which have stood out, with there being plenty of them being able to work together to create something scary. Not one member of the team felt like a weak link.
This is really only a snippet of our two nights visiting Tulleys Shocktoberfest this Halloween. Every year, it grows and we just need more time to enjoy it. After spending around 12 hours now at the event, we could easily spend another 12 hours this Halloween, that’s just how insane it is. The festival atmosphere is unmatched and is really a goliath for the UK scare scene to have each year. With the brand new shows, new attractions and just expansion of what they bring, they have done another anniversary incredibly well.
A huge thank you to the Tulleys Team and Ed Hopkins PR for inviting us this season. They have provided us with multiple complimentary tickets to visit, a guided tour and other freebies including food and drink. All of this is highly appreciated. In return we have provided our honest feedback, pictures and videos and other content on our social media.
We really think you should make a visit this year more than any other year, for the high quality entertainment alone. All tickets are available from their website and we look forward to getting back in 2027!
