Sins at The Panic Room Gravesend Review

In this review, we delve into the horrors within The Panic Room Gravesend’s 7 Sins escape room. Entering the torturous dark cells, you’ll confront the grim realities of the past as you face each of the seven deadly sins in a series of challenging trials. Freedom can only be earned by successfully overcoming these trials and confronting the sins themselves.

7 Sins is one of many escape room experiences created by The Panic Room team in Gravesend. Across their various locations, they offer a diverse range of themes and stories, spanning horror, magic, and fantasy. Located in their newest venue, The Entertainment Centre, 7 Sins perfectly complemented the other activities we had booked with them.

Having enjoyed several other escape rooms by The Panic Room, we were eager to experience this new offering. You can read our thoughts on The Loop, one of the cleverest rooms we’ve played, here. Alternatively, for a thrilling experience featuring a live actor, you can read our review of The Happy Institute here.

Given the difficulty rating of 4/5 and the age recommendation of 15+ (or 12+ with an adult), we were understandably apprehensive about what awaited us within. The game requires a brave soul to venture alone at one point, adding to the tension. The room delivered everything you’d expect from a creepy, sin-themed experience, featuring effective props, clever hiding places, and multiple rooms filled with diverse challenges.

We thoroughly enjoyed the overall theme, and the room’s decor perfectly conveyed a sense of murderous intent. Blood-stained walls and curtains, dim lighting, and unsettling props created a truly immersive atmosphere. The storyline, focusing on the seven deadly sins and their role in the narrative, was engaging yet easy to follow, allowing us to focus on the puzzles without getting bogged down in intricate details.

The puzzles themselves were clever and, in some cases, quite challenging due to their ingenious hiding places. However, everything ultimately made sense within the context of the game. As a team of four, we had plenty to keep us occupied. The experience began with a linear structure but soon transitioned into a non-linear format after the initial stages, allowing us to split up and tackle different puzzles simultaneously.

Successfully escaping in just under 45 minutes, we conquered the horrors within in a respectable time. We did require one or two small hints to keep us on track, but as an experienced escape room group, we were pleased with our performance.

7 Sins proved to be a fantastic way to conclude our escape room adventures for 2024. The Panic Room team has once again crafted a fun yet creepy experience. While the storyline is straightforward and the theme isn’t entirely unique, the overall experience—from the shocking introduction to the collaborative gameplay—kept us thoroughly entertained and engaged throughout. Even when faced with challenging puzzles, we never felt stressed or frustrated.

We extend a huge thank you to The Panic Room team for inviting us to play this room; our experience was complimentary in exchange for our review. Have you braved the 7 Sins? We’d love to hear your thoughts and your escape time!
