THE OVERALL EVENT…

WOO – Variety & Quality | WOO – operations | BOO – Side Shows

Scare Kingdom has been on our radar to return to after us missing the event over the last few years. As one of the events we see market well and do well each year, it was exciting to see how much has changed since our first visit a few years ago. The event starts with you joining a queue to get your tickets checked, with the farm cafe open for some warm drinks and toilet access in the main entrance. After ticket scans, you then go through the attraction in a linear format, with a half way stop in there. Most of the mazes do have a small wait and queue before you enter them in short groups.

The halfway zone has an opportunity for you to grab a drink at the bar, some food from one of the vendors or you can even party inside warehouse 669. This is a brand new addition which is a themed bar and club experience, where roaming characters, DJs and live performers come together to just have a good time. The bar was very reasonable and we had some great interactions from the characters. They also have interrogation, an 18+ upcharge extreme maze which takes you down a manhole before you go through several fear tasks. Once you’re ready to move on, you can join the queue for the next maze.

Scare Kingdom do have a great operation ongoing, with the queue system being minimal between the mazes, small groups but frequently, we found it to work with minimal times us catching up with other groups. You do most of the waiting at the start of your visit, then with shorter waits throughout. We think this works and with no fast track outside of VIP ticket holders at the start, nobody gets to skip the line or slow down the operations.

What Scare Kingdom are missing is any side attractions to keep you entertained. Whilst they do have a themed club experience which forms part of their entertainment, and interrogation, which is an attraction, there isn’t anything more to do or see. With how long Scare Kingdom have been going, we’d like to see this update and grow in future years.

The Overall variety and quality of Scare Kingdom is fantastic, covering several different horror themes and styles across their route, all done with a very good standard of finish, it provides a premium experience for all.

High Hopes Hospital

WOO – Actor Performance

The patients, doctors and other disturbed creatures in here really brought the maze to life. They gave a creepy feel to the starting attraction, with the nurse out the front of the maze giving you a false sense of security with some comedy and story elements.

BOO – Actor Utilisation

Unfortunately it felt that the actors weren’t utilising the space well and were limited to small areas, in addition to it feeling more limited than some of the other mazes.

WOO – Audio

The audio was noticeable and standout from the moment we entered. The sounds of the beeps with other sound effects and a tension track behind it, added that extra layer of terror whilst walking through High Hopes Hospital.

Imbreeds Impound

WOO – Theming

As their brand new maze, they have done really well with the theming. Every corner had something and it was layered, built up and just worked as a hillbilly styled maze. Going both indoors and outdoors, it was built well and no complaints here.

BOO – Lighting & SFX

It seemed this maze didn’t have as many special effects that it could have had with this theme. It felt more traditional and limited, with just some smoke and duck down sections used.

WOO – Actor performance

They went absolutely crazy in here, with some very active family members. They were loud, creepy and terrifying, which fits the theme and produces a great introductory year for the impound.

Manormortis

WOO – Theming

Manormortis has been a stand out maze in the UK industry for many years, with this maze actually being one of the longest standing from our knowledge. The theming was quality as expected, with high detailed sets, large rooms and every corner themed. This is the standard we expect for haunted houses in the UK.

BOO – Actor Utilisation

Some of the cast were limited with where they were based in Manormortis, due to their story sections. It also just felt they could have just covered more space or had more of them in there to counter this out.

WOO – Lighting & SFX

As a haunted house, it came with all the special effects. Having a floating table, splitting routes and smells, it provided what you expected.

Gothica

WOO – Screams

Gothica really stepped up as an attraction and provided some real scares during our journey. The nuns were sinister and used darkness and their hiding spots to their advantage. It’s a short but sweet maze, with plenty of terror thrown in.

BOO – storytelling

Outside of the introduction character, it felt the storytelling was missed here in Gothica. The nuns mainly just whispered the odd word and after a strong introduction, it was the weakest element.

WOO – Actor Performance

The nuns here were everything we wanted in the maze. They managed to use the claustrophobic maze layout to their advantage, hiding in the darkness and mixing the shouting and whispering of sinners felt like it was coming from the walls.

Body Snatchers

WOO – Storytelling

Body Snatchers took you back to the Victorian era and brings up the story of Jack the Ripper. This was brought to life through a few fantastic introduction scenes and then some other key actors throughout. This maze features more stories and theatrical pieces, other than just scares which was nice to see this style remain just a little at Scare Kingdom.

BOO – Actor utilisation

Due to all the story scenes, it felt the actors were limited in movement and spacing. We feel like this could again be enhanced with a few more characters or just moving around as they told you the story, instead of being static in their scenic spots.

WOO – Costume & Makeup

With the theme, the costumes were able to help transport you back in time and it worked very well here. They were definitely up there as some of the best of the night and when the costume adds to the immersion of an attraction, you know it’s going to be good!

Carnihell

WOO – Enjoyment

Ending on a clown maze is always fun and the maze brings plenty of enjoyment. With fun elements from split routes and the characters bringing a unique take on the attraction, it all came together to create the finale for Scare Kingdom 2026.

BOO – Audio

For a clown finale, we expected the audio to be more noticeable and fun and it kinda lacked. We hoped for a more impactful finale from this department but unfortunately, it fell a little short.

WOO – Actor Performance

The troupe of clowns here really were a lot of fun, starting with the introduction scenes where the ringmaster and clown, which played plenty of banter through each other. Inside, you had a range of creepy clowns, sarcastic clowns and just your typical energetic clowns. All the way through it was a lot of fun from the team.

Scare Kingdom have come leaps and bounds over the years, with them changing their style a lot in recent times as they separated from Atmosfear. They have really built on their offerings, constantly getting better and overall, that created a fun evening. The entertainment with the warehouse 669 themed bar and club experience was really unique and it’s great to see extreme attractions still exist in the UK for those brave enough to endure. Manormortis is still incredible and had many changes and Scare Kingdom as a whole is well worth a visit.

A huge thank you to the team for working with us this Halloween. They allowed us to visit and provided complimentary entry for the 2 of us in return for our honest content, feedback and review.

They are open one final weekend as they remain open one weekend longer than most, so you have a little bit of time to see their 2026 offering. Especially if you wish to experience Gothica, which will retire and be changed for the 2027 season!
