Chessington World of Adventures invited us for a tour of the construction site and to gain an insight into their exciting new World of Jumanji! Featuring the headline Mandrill Mayhem rollercoaster attraction along with smaller themed flat rides, the park’s 11th themed land is due to open on the 15th May 2023. 

After putting on the Jumanji branded PPE equipment, we were escorted into the park heading towards the new land. Whilst some areas of the park have been open to the public for the February half term event and zoo days, this is the closest anyone has been able to get to this exciting new venture. The tour began outside of what is going to be the new entrance portal to the world. We learnt that the placement of the coaster, flat rides, food outlets and theming have certainly been cleverly thought through. With the coaster inversion overhead and the jaguar shrine wrapped in the helix centrally in the distance, these unique features will truly make a great first impression to the land when complete with the 3D sign. 

The tour continued into the land and we could then see different theming elements as well as the two supporting attractions. The overturned lorry is designed to be a result of the mandrill causing mayhem across the land and was confirmed as re-used theming from Ripsaw at Alton Towers. Ostrich Stampede is an SBF Visa flat ride with sets of seats themed to the bird on arms which will rotate in a circle and jump up & down. Mamba Strike is also manufactured by SBF Visa and is a mini miami style ride with a large snake head placed behind it. The main central area is designed to be a labyrinth of paths with play area features and benches to encourage guests to truly immerse themselves and get lost in Jumanji.
