Are you ready for a #ABloodyGoodNight at FEAR Scream Park? The ultimate Halloween night out located in Keynsham, which is between Bristol & Bath in the South West of the UK. Home to 5 terrifying attractions, years of experience and a range of other entertainment on offer, you won’t be disappointed visiting this scream park.
This event has been around since 2014 and has grown from a small event with a handful of attractions to this now large scale event with 6 experiences, shows and being an award winning seasonal attraction. For 2023, they have not changed the lineup compared to 2022 for the mazes but have expanded on the show offering. We now see a new hub in The Republic of England part of the park where X4, VitaNova & The Core sit. This has a laser show added in, a bar and its own dedicated roaming team separate to the main hub area.
The event runs throughout October during selected dates, with the park opening from 5:30pm through to 11pm. Tickets are sold with different intake times, which means this is the time you can join the queue outside to enter into the event. Once in the event, you can experience everything in any order as many times you as like. They have different options from just the street pass to enjoy the entertainment, a standard ticket, a fastrack option plus a R.I.P ticket, allowing you to get merchandise, food & drink and much more included. A standard ticket seems to be around £37.50 – £40, but it if you purchase this earlier on in the year, there can be huge savings.
Below we take a look into what they had to offer during our visit…
Our thoughts for 2023…
With so much on offer at FEAR, we had a lot to cover. Outside the mazes, they have 2 shows in the park. The main one returning is the Titans of Terror fire show, found to be playing every 60 minutes in the main hub arena. Here you will see the full roaming street team dancing amongst the fire, with a backing video showing all of the different main characters which interlink to the attractions they have. This show is always one of our favourites each year and with a slight adjustment to last year, we still found it incredible.
The other new show for 2023 was featured in The Republic of England area, which is a laser show created by Aardvark FX. This 5 minute show created chaos in the area which is now the second hub to the event this year. The roaming street team become very energetic with the blinding lights in the sky and this show also played frequently in the area. With this said, the new area was incredible to see in action, with it having its own contained story with the rebels taking on the new world order. We even found a secret interactive story in the area and it was incredible to see a part of this hidden narrative.

Malefica
Theming 90% | Storyline 75% | Screams 75% | Laughs 55% | Actors 75%
Malefica is one of the more newer attractions at the event with it being introduced back in 2021. This was one of our top rated experiences with its scary nun team and the haunting dark corridors it was set in. This year, it has changed its layout with you now starting where it use to end and doing the maze in reverse. It was interesting doing it this way round with some minimal changes seen throughout. The ending has seen an extension to make it a little longer. Ultimately, it still is a very scary maze with detailed theming, lots of screams and very disturbing actors. We do feel it has lost some of the story due to its new route but nethertheless, it still is super petrifying and we wouldn’t want to be trapped in there any longer with the nuns that haunt the church.
X4

X4 is a part of the trilogy of mazes that make up the overall story of The Republic of England / New World Order. X4 allows you to enter into a military test site and learn about Leo and all the other failed test subjects within. This maze has always seen changes and has some really cool effects inside, one being the lift taking you down to the lab, we have never seen such a turbulent feature within a maze. The feral creatures created a terrifying atmosphere and the storyline really sets the scene for the incredible multi-level story the event is trying to go for.
V I T A N O V A
Theming 70% | Storyline 80% | Screams 75% | Laughs 65% | Actors 80%
VitaNova is a really unique maze for the event and across the UK, as in this attraction, you will enter alone. The storyline is based on you taking your VitaNova drugs and entering a series of treatment rooms to make sure you are fit & well. The scenes you go through are certainly testing with tight narrow walkways, heavy strobes, lots of smoke and even crawling sections. With multiple points that you will get split up, there is no way that you will get to stick with your friends in this attraction, making it a very testing experience for many and a super scary journey of the mind overall.
House of Clowns

House of Clowns is now one of the oldest attractions at the event but links with the roaming street team in the main hub area. This is a circus which has now been ran down since the disappearance of Frank who use to lead the event & circus, and they have now gone psycho. This attraction always use to be one of the more weaker mazes however, we found it to be up there with the rest of the event this year with a team of crazy clowns. Whilst the maze had some minimal changes inside, it allowed for more scares & laughs than ever before and we enjoyed it that much, we went through it multiple times!
The Core
Theming 85% | Storyline 85% | Screams 75% | Laughs 80% | Actors 95%
The Core is also one of the newer attractions as it opened last year for the first time at the event and shocked the scare scene in the UK with its uniqueness. This event takes you down into the sewers to find help but all you find is more terrifying creatures which have been infected. As everyone knows, sewers are dark & wet, meaning you will have to wear appropriate clothing to make it through safely in these tunnels. The changes we seen compared to last year worried us as at the start, it lost its unique lighting equipment but once we came out the other side, we realised we still very much enjoyed the attraction without it. With some of the scariest actors in the park found in these passageways, we love The Core for its uniqueness and well roundedness as a scare attraction. Just watch out this year as you will get wet!
The Exorcism
Theming 90% | Storyline 100% | Screams 80% | Laughs 45% | Actors 90%
Last up is The Exorcism which is the parks show which is also brand new for last year. This show was one of the best new additions that have been added to the park. The show takes on a dark tale of a live exorcism of Evelyn Grace. The show contains only 3 actors, being the possessed Evelyn, the father of the church & the sister who assists him. With some clever effects hidden in the room and the intimacy of the show happening right in front of you, it still remains a terrifying experience. It creates tension from the moment you sit down and watch the events unfold and it captivates you right into the immersive story. With it being even more polished for its second year, we very much enjoyed this theatrical experience once more.
FEAR Scream Park is still very much #aBloodyGoodNight for 2023, with it having such high detailed stories, scares & screams than ever before. Across the board, FEAR has been able to produce such a fun yet terrifying event which year upon year makes us want to come back time & time again. Whilst no new additions to the mazes this year, it has allowed them to polish them up slightly and make changes to the entertainment offering outside. With the new hub area being very well received by us & the public, creating a laser show and a secret storyline in the park. We loved the creativeness and cleverness of it all.
Some of our highlights have to be the hidden storyline we got recruited from by the rebels and the interactivity with all of the characters in this new hub they have formed. Whilst the other main hub section of the park was much more fun and calmer, still having its charm with the fire show & funfair side.
A huge thank you to the team at FEAR Scream Park for allowing us to visit once again and providing us a top tier evening out. They provided us with 2 free press tickets to the event, allowing us to experience everything they had on offer. We sadly weren’t able to film inside the attractions this year and all footage was taken from outside the attractions.
We hear big plans are on the horizon for 2024 and cannot wait to see what they introduce as the event goes from strength to strength each year…
