Our experience started with heading into Reading via train, and finding Spinners was only a short walk away. Heading from the station, you really just need to head to the far part of town where you will eventually come to the large Spinners sign and entrance. Heading into the venue, there are plenty of photo opportunities with a neon sign, golf buggy and golf themed paintings. 

Once you enter into the main area, you will find the bar area which you can get a drink, or check in / purchase an experience. The venue is very compact, so on the left hand side you have 3 dart lanes and two bowling alleys, whilst on the right you have the minigolf and seating area for the food, which we also doubles up for a seating area if you are having drinks. 

The food menu had a fair few options it seemed, from small plate options with chicken, prawns and fries. You also had some pizza options, garlic breads and nachos. The drink menu had everything you would need for an alcoholic or non alcoholic time with them. From cocktails, spirits, soft drinks and beer, you will find something you would like, with prices being reasonable for the Reading area. 

First up for us was the interactive darts. This crosses your standard game of darts by adding a screen and tracking of the darts to play different fun minigame style challenges to keep it fun and interactive. This keeps with the competitive socialising game that Spinners want you to experience with them. With 5 games on offer, you will have plenty of time to explore these with your team and battle it out to find the ultimate champion. 

When you have booked a slot, you will be taken to one of the bays and have some assistance in setting up. You have a tablet to register each player, by including your name and a photo which will be used on the screen. Once done, you are ready to play one of the many games. Some of the games are easier than others, so we would recommend starting with the ones listed as easy, so you can get into the swing of things. All the games come with rules, so don’t worry if you know absolutely nothing. Equally, you don’t have to be good to play any of these games, ideally just being able to hit the board with your darts is a good start and gives you a chance. 

We had great fun ourselves, with us battling it out on each of the game options. With none of us being good at normal darts, this allowed us to have fun with the classic game. We got so distracted with our session that the time just flew by. 

The interactive darts is very reasonable in pricing, with it costing £20 per hour for 1-2 players, £30 per hour for 3-4 people or £40 per hour for 5-8 people. With it charging by the hour and for the lane, it means it will cost anywhere between £5 to £10 per person. 

Then last up is the ten pin bowling they have. This is your classic game but with a bit more luxury surrounding it. With only two lanes at the venue, each having a sofa as seating and a more relaxing atmosphere with it, you won’t find your classic bright lights and corny music here. 

Whilst we didn’t get to experience the bowling as it was already booked up prior to us attending, it seemed it was very popular amongst all guests coming to play. With it being perfect for larger groups and friends who want to enjoy a cocktail and relax, instead of having screaming kids in the lanes either side, it really looked like it made it a very different environment. 

Pricing is similar to minigolf which is per person for the bowling. They have peak and off-peak pricing and this is highly recommended to be booked in advance as it was several weeks ahead of our visit.
