Easily accessible via the underground on the central line, Kidzania is located in the heart of Westfield. Upon arrival, you are greeted by the team and given a wristband along with 50 Kidzos to spend. Once bags and jackets are placed in the cloakroom, sponsored by the Big Yellow Storage Company, you are free to explore the city at your own leisure. There are over 25 careers to choose from each with its own unique, immersive experience. This includes a supermarket, acting studio, city tour bus, and hotel, just to name a few. All activities are included in the ticket price and free to enjoy at your own pace, you can do as many or as little as you like. Along with a number of small breaks throughout the evening, during our visit, we managed to complete the Fire and Rescue Unit, Radio Station, Aviation Academy, Cleaning Company, Courier Service, Spy Agency, Pokemon Creative Studios, and Service Station. After being advised the Fire and Rescue Unit, Radio Station, and Aviation Academy were the most popular within the city, so we headed to these first.

Once we arrived at the fire station, we paid 10 Kidzos each to take part. Dressed up in a firefighting helmet and jacket, the training began. After watching a video and taking part in the various training activities, we learned the main skills needed to become a successful firefighter. Upon completion, the bell rang and it was time to put our skills to the test. We hopped onboard the fire engine and drove around the city of Kidzania to fight the fire in a hotel. Working as a team, we had to spray the water to put the fire out, a very successful first activity. This was Dean’s favourite career!

The next career that we discovered was a radio presenter. Created and sponsored by Capital Radio, as a group of three we hosted our own radio show. With headphones, music, and real-life scripts, we worked together as presenter 1, presenter 2, and traffic and weather to discuss all the hot news and gossip that goes on in the city of Kidzania. This was Amy’s favourite activity and definitely not one to miss. If this career takes your fancy, we do recommend taking part in this earlier on in the evening as it is very personal and carried out in small groups so does get very busy as the evening goes on.

The next career we undertook was at the Aviation Academy. Sponsored by British Airways, we had the opportunity to fly our own plane! With our pilot hats on and working as a team, we were able to take off and land in our dream destination. This activity is carried out in pairs and also gets extremely busy. Alongside working as a pilot, we also had the opportunity to work as cabin crew. This activity was a lot of fun and we learned the skills needed to successfully show the emergency exits, put on a life jacket and oxygen mask, and the best way to deliver excellent customer service to serve passengers on board. This was Austyn’s favourite experience which was extremely enjoyable and a lot of fun.
