Step back into the 1940s and experience Cahoots, where spirits are high and drinks never run dry! With three unique spaces in the heart of London, a range of activities and a quirky atmosphere, Cahoots is a highly popular destination you need to know about.
Cahoots is a 1940s themed bar where you can step inside an abandoned train station, a ticket hall or even the signal station, where you can enjoy cocktails & rations, live music and other entertainment in this unique venue. Whilst Cahoots has been in Soho London since 2015, it expanded back in 2019 to allow for more capacity & experiences as the concept gained popularity. Almost 10 years on, the place is still selling out with tables having to be booked before turning up. With the Inception group is behind this creation, they also run other quirky bars such as Mr Foggs and Control Room B which can also be found in London.
Cahoots can be found open 7 days a week, usually opening up in the afternoon until late. As it is a popular place to have a drink, we highly recommend you make a reservation via the website prior to attending. If you are booking one of the more exclusive experiences, you do not need to make a reservation however, if you wish to stay after that booked experience, we recommend you reserve a table.
Whilst you can stay just for a drink and have a catch up, we were invited to experience the Bootlegger Breakout experience, which runs every Saturday & Sunday. Find out more below…
The Bootlegger Breakout experience is hosted every Saturday & Sunday afternoon, usually with two slots on the Saturday and one on the Sunday. Costing £58 per person, you will take on a fast-paced cocktail adventure as you join the team of Cahoots in making cocktails & solving puzzles in a 2 hour challenge. With the story of you joining as the newest recruits, you arrive for your first day ready to learn all the tricks of the trade. With the Old Bill discovering the hideout, they locked up every last one of the team and the next batch of bevvies are needed to be collected any minute.
Bootlegger Breakout is an immersive blend of puzzle-solving and cocktail-making for any group ready to take on the challenge. With the first half of the experience solving puzzles and freeing one of the cocktail making team, whilst the second half is making up the next batch of cocktails. Each ticket includes a welcome cocktail, an escape room style puzzle and a guided cocktail masterclass which includes two cocktails.
Our experience started at 1pm on Saturday and we found the venue with ease. Once you enter the venue, you are greeted by the team, they take the booking name and you are taken to a waiting area. After a short wait, we met Johnny Fingers, who was our resident bootlegger. He had all the charm and charisma of a London geezer, portraying the type of person you’d expect to meet back in the 1940s. We were then given a sticker which told us our teams and started making our way down to the Signal Station.
After a fantastic dramatic entrance into the Signal Station, we took our seats around a table which had a safe on it matching our sticker. Johnny Fingers then gave us an introduction into what has happened and the story so far, before we then got stuck in with the first half of the challenge, which was solving the puzzles to get a key. The key would then help free one of the Cahoots team who was locked in the cage. We had to complete a series of challenges, from using old technology, cracking padlocks and searching the bar space, we managed to successfully get our key. This escape room styled challenge was very fun and provided a great start to the experience to get you settled in.
Following all of us solving our own safes and challenges, we managed to free the Cahoots cocktail maker! Which then led us onto the next part of our experience, which was the cocktail masterclass. We got to make two Cahoot cocktails, one being a special and the other being a classic. We made a Winston Churchill Cocktail & a bramble, one being sweet and the other more sour. Both drinks were pretty tasty but out of everything, you will like at least one of these cocktails depending on your taste. The cocktail making was great to learn from a professional, using ice and shakers, a range of unique ingredients and of course the cool looking mugs. We loved the presentation and this was very fun to do, as these drinks are the same as they would serve and make in the rest of Cahoots.
Believe it or not, 2 hours later of solving puzzles and completing our cocktails, our time was up with the Bootlegger Breakout mission. Time really does fly when you’re having fun.
Overall, Bootlegger Breakout was one of our favourite experiences in recent times. The blend of cocktail making, and escape rooms is a great idea for an afternoon out and Cahoots have done this well with its 1940s theme. The character Johnny Fingers played his role to perfection, he made us laugh from start to finish and guided the experience flawlessly. The puzzles were not overly complicated, and neither were they revolutionary however, as part of an experience like this, it provided a great introduction to get settled into the environment.
The cocktail making part was really cool to just see how they make some of the more complicated drinks. Whilst everyone may not like the cocktails, they were fun to make and we were shocked that the majority of us like all 3 of the drinks given out. The guide was also very funny and kept us all engaged when making them, helping people out where required and went at a steady pace so you didn’t fall behind.
This is not the only experience Cahoots have, they have themed quizzes, live music and so much more on offer. We highly recommend you try Bootlegger Breakout if you love puzzles and making cocktails. All tickets are best booked directly with Cahoots and as mentioned, it is on Saturday & Sundays weekly.
A huge thank you to the team at Cahoots for working with us during our visit. They did provide 3 complimentary tickets for us to take on the Bootlegger Breakout mission in return for our review, TikTok and images to share with you.
