Powerpark Finlands Biggest Amusement Park Review 2024

17 September 2024

PowerPark Finland

Power Park is Finland’s largest and most surprising amusement park offering over 160 hectares of age limitless joy, speed and experiences. Opening back in 2002, they have expanded over the years adding a variety of attractions including modern day thrill coasters to even appeal to the biggest coaster fans. Power Park is located in quite a remote part of Finland away from the major cities, however there is a local train station of Härma with limited train services stopping there, the park even put on a convenient free shuttle bus; the timings of the trains did mean we arrived about midday and had to leave by 6pm, but this was plenty of time, and the Finnish trains are super comfy too for long journeys. The park has reasonable opening times throughout its main season which runs from May to September, with it typically opening from 11am and closing between 5 and 7pm; outside of peak season the amusement park is closed mid-week, but the rest of the resort offerings may be open. The amusement park operates using a wristband system for adults and smaller visitors, those who do not wish to ride can also purchase entry for a small fee; evening wristbands and individual ride tickets can also be purchased.

The newest rollercoaster at Power Park is a custom Gerstlauer Infinity Coaster opening back in 2020. Pitts Special features an imposing vertical lift hill over 142ft tall, followed by plunging into an 85 degree drop hitting top speeds of over 62mph. Uniquely the rollercoaster has 0 inversions, and it’s experience is made by plenty of twists, turns and airtime; the comfortable lap bar trains also enhance the exposed feel of the ride experience. There is another custom Gerstlauer Infinity coaster with the same colour scheme and trains located right next to Pitts Special, so much you could get the two confused adding to the impressive look of the area. Junker features an intense rolling launch to start the coaster hitting speeds of almost 65mph in less than 2 seconds! It’s a lengthy coaster with many elements including a top hat, airtime and 3 inversions each giving a different sensation; Junker also features lap bar trains which makes the hangtime of the inversions feel equal parts terrifying and amazing.

There’s an array of other Rollercoasters at Power Park from small one’s for children through to family fun and more thrills. Mine Train is for the smaller guests and takes you through twists and turns in the forest. Take a spin on Neo’s Twister as you experience hairpin turns and sharp drops around the compact layout. Joyride was Power Parks first coaster, and is a fun family ride reaching 20m high before weaving around the layout. Cobra is a boomerang coaster which takes you up backwards before plunging you down a drop and through 3 different Inversions, before heading up another hill and doing it all again backwards; the park don’t recommend this if you have a sensitive stomach! Lastly Thunderbird is the large wooden coaster manufactured by GCI, it may be just under 30m tall but it has a lengthy layout with a big sweeping drop, following by lots of turns and airtime moments making it one of the highlights at the park; it even ranks among some of the best wooden coasters in the world.

Power Park is home to more than just rollercoasters with a large selection of other rides on offer. Dragon Tower is a huge ride standing at 75 meters tall, and uniquely has two ride features; you can queue on one side and experience it slowly up and down as an observation tower, or the other side is a drop experience plunging down from the very top. Typhoon 360 is one of the newest attractions at Power Park, a spinning pendulum ride going all the way around taking you upside down at a height of 30m. Kwai River is a 400m long water ride with several drops, perfect to cool off on a warmer day. Devil’s Mine Hotel is an interactive shooting ride which takes you into the mine with several dimly lit scenes with animatronics, and the all important targets to shoot at. You can even find a fun house attraction themed to a construction site with many interactive features to make sure it’s a laugh. There are lots more to experience which you will find on the website or stumble upon when you visit.

We really enjoyed our visit to Power Park. Within 6 hours we were able to ride all coasters, and our favourites several times, alongside a variety of other thrilling and fun attractions; we even popped outside the amusement park to play a game of adventure golf in the resort which was great. Junker is an excellent coaster and made the visit worth it alone, definitely one of Europe’s top coasters. There were a fair few food and drink options and we found a nicely decorated fast food restaurant with tasty burgers, where the staff spoke good English too to help with orders. We’d like to thank Power Park for accommodating our visit providing us with 2 theme park wristbands, and on-ride filming permissions, this is in return for our review and other social & video content; all facts are taken from the park and all opinions are our own.
