The Matterhorn Blitz and Pegasus rollercoasters within Europa Park are open during Traumatica for those wanting to get some thrills in the dark; Kassandra’s Curse, a madhouse style attraction is also open but with a twist, as Virtual Reality headsets are used to experience ‘The Fallen’, which worked flawlessly and was terrifying! There are two main shows at the event, the main stage show with humour, dark magic and fiery acts, and a rock-heavy ice skating show with so much going on, and eye catching sequences. Roaming characters make for some great interactions and scary moments, and really give you the chance to see the level of detail that goes into their costumes and makeup at the event. This is the third time we have visited Traumatica and the event does get very busy, so would recommend the Shoxter Pass if you do want to experience as much as possible of the event; we only just about got to experience everything with the exception of the coasters. On select days after the main Traumatica attractions finish up, there are other upcharge experiences which details are very limited on what they entail, but do sell out quickly. There is also the Silver Bullet Bar which remains open afterwards to enjoy a drink and there may even be some additional entertainment in the form of singers, dancers and aerial artists, to complete the night.

Europa Park

If you think you know what a theme park is, think again; Europa Park revolutionises the themes experienced, taking you on a realistic trip around Europe and other magical areas, full of rides, shows, restaurants and more. From Iceland with the viking themed Wodan rollercoaster, to France with a Moulin Rouge attraction; this level of immersion has to be seen to be believed. New for 2024 is the incredible Voltron rollercoaster in the new Croatian themed area exploring the creations of Nikola Tesla, this coaster is shocking in all the right ways, with launches, inversions and airtime making it the complete package. Also new is the complete reimagining of their Geisterschloss ‘ghost train’ attraction which now has a coherent story where you are invited into the Italian Castello dei Medici as you make your way through things take a darker turn with so much to see and some frightening moments, it really is a quality experience, and a huge improvement on the previous attraction. The park has different seasons, with additional theme and entertainment. We visited during Halloween and pumpkins could be seen literally everywhere, different shows had Halloween overlays; we loved the Halloween edition of the character parade with spooky outfits, floats and lots of smoke effects! It was classed as a busy day during our visit, and the hours were extended until 8pm, we still managed to get on many attractions and watch some shows, as well as enjoy a bar or two; our day was aided by using the free Virtual Line within the app which allowed us to secure a time slot and be fast tracked onto a few rides.
