The home of fear is back for 2024, ready to provide another year of thrills & frights throughout October. Thorpe Park Fright Nights has mazes, shows, roaming characters and of course all of your favourite coasters which can be ridden into the dark of the night. Not forgetting Hyperia can be ridden in the pitch black for one of the first times this year.
Fright Nights has 4 mazes this year, a scare zone, a show and a scare zone/show area for you to experience. Returning favourites such as Stitches, Trailers and Survival Games come back with a vengeance, whilst new for this year, you can experience Deadbeat, a rave to die for! Lucifers Lair is back as well as the Crows of Mawkin Meadow, plus the all dancing highschool of Creature Campus is back once more but with the overlay of Looks Can Kill, as Medusa makes her grand entrance.
Fright Nights is running throughout October, with it starting on October 4th through to November 3rd on selected dates. Tickets to the theme park are the same price as normal and if you are looking to experience any of the 4 mazes, an additional ticket will need to be bought. Price packages are available directly online and ranges depending on if you do them in the day or night. Lucifers Lair, The Crows & Creature Campus are all free to experience.
Below we give you our thoughts on a press preview night, where we were allowed to film and be some of the first to experience this years haunting lineup…

Our First thoughts…
Thorpe Park Fright Nights is an event we look forward to each year and is now an event we have been to for well over 10 years. Seeing the lineup change over the years to where we are at now, has been a rollercoaster for sure. 2024 brings a lot of returning favourites, some with changes, some with surprises and of course the new addition of Deadbeat to keep everything fresh.
There is plenty going on this year and during our evening, it is always hard to complete it all in one night. We really enjoyed getting back on Hyperia and especially in the dark. We were lucky enough to get a front row dark ride, which was breathtaking. The whole atmosphere was spooky and getting to see the park with all the smoke and lights from as high as Hyperia, that was truly unique.
The whole night went by in a flash and we can’t wait to get back to Fright Nights to do some of our favourites, such as Hyperia, Deadbeat and even Trailers.
Below we go into more depth about the attractions, giving you are thoughts and rating. Our ratings are completely separate and allows us to give a fair unbiased rating of each attraction. To know more about the ratings before you read below, do click here!
The Crows – Scare Score: 67%

The Crows of Mawkin Meadow returns for another Fright Night season and this time, it has a new layout, creepy characters and much more of an eerie aura. The theming is quite simple using gravestones, haybales and a lot of smoke to cover the walkway and within the mist, you’ll find lots and lots of Scarecrows. These creatures really do lurk in the dark and when you think you found one, another two have already scared you. The actors have really done well to work with their surroundings so quickly and we just loved how one moment we were jumped scared, then looking over our shoulders as they stalked behind. This haunting and atmospheric attraction is a staple part to Fright Nights and we can’t wait to return for another stroll down Mawkin Meadows!
Trailers – Scare Score: 77%
Theming 70% | Storyline 85% | Screams 80% | Laughs 65% | Actors 85%
The SuperSpark cinema returns but with more surprises and terrifying elements than we have ever seen it since its launch. Trailers has a new set of scenes and characters to keep it interesting, fresh and fun. These surprising scenes are very familiar, as you go back in time to see some of the famous past attractions once more. These include Platform 15, Death Doors and even the Buckwheats make an appearance. We just loved entering into their miniature storylines once more and getting to reminisce about these past attractions, which were once loved for another time.
We screamed our way through all of the scenes, which the team of actors inside doing an incredible job at providing the best scares they could. Even the introduction had an update, with the Director giving a really intense, detailed story to start you off in the infamous cinema.
We were honestly surprised at how good Trailers was this year and to have the surprising scenes added and not know about them, we are just shocked. If you loved Trailers in past years, you will love it even more for 2024…
Lucifers lair – Scare Score: 58%
Theming 60% | Storyline 50% | Screams 45% | Laughs 60% | Actors 75%
Lucifers Lair returns for its second year, this time with a slightly different stage setup as it continues over from Oktoberfest. The devil and his minions continue to torment the area, with a chaotic team providing terror for those brave enough to walk anywhere near it. This scare zone is on fire with pyro stations above the stage and around the area. Whilst it seems less pyro than before is being used and a few technical issues during our time in the area, it still provides a heated experience & entertainment for all.
Lucifers Lair has a few things going on, with it being a scare zone area with demons causing torment and the occasional visit from Lucifer himself. They have a main dance & pyro show that happens at different points, which has a Halloween playlist, mixture of pop & dubstep, as dancers fill the stage. They also have bands that play outside of the show to keep the entertainment rolling.
We can’t wait to return to enjoy Lucifers Lair for a little longer, hopefully see some more pyro and see some more of the entertainment which we didn’t get to see soon.
Creature Campus – Scare Score: 52%
Theming 60% | Storyline 55% | Screams 20% | Laughs 40% | Actors 85%
Creature Campus has a new overlay for 2024 and that is with Medusa with Looks Can Kill. The school is back and this time, new student Medusa slithers her way into a new dance number. The stage setup is completely new compared to previous years, with a large facade and poster about the Sarpedon Society. The show is still incredible and really is an artistic spectacle. Whilst we didn’t have any scares or stick around to see the actors after their performance, the show itself you can see everybody is giving it their all. The storyline was a little lost on us with it not being as easy to follow as it has been in previous years but, we are sure if we watched it a little more then maybe, it would make more sense.
Overall, Creature Campus Looks Can Kill has another great show and is well worth a watch if your visiting for Fright Nights.
Survival Games- Scare Score: 67%
Theming 55% | Storyline 75% | Screams 70% | Laughs 55% | Actors 80%
Survival Games is another returning favourite and the chaos inside still remains the same as it has done since day 1. With minimal changes & improvements, you still get split up, sent through sections alone and lost in the labyrinth inside. This high octane game provides plenty of fright and when you were not paying attention, with the help of the strobes and dark corridors, the contestants inside really do scare you. We do love how this maze does allow for the actors to touch you, which not many mazes allow now days, as it still creates that fear of the unknown and being forced to split from your friends. The team inside here once again were very good for an opening night to the event and we cannot commend that enough.
Stitches – Scare Score: 77%
Theming 90% | Storyline 80% | Screams 70% | Laughs 65% | Actors 80%
The terrifying Stitches returns and provides another year of nightmare material right in front of your very eyes. Whilst this remains unchanged, this is still high quality in all fields, filled with actors and scares around every corner. From a monkey, dolls and teddy hiding within the toy makers factory, you can find all your childhood nightmares inside. Stitches is highly themed from the moment you step inside, from the toy maker studio, to the stuffing room to even the rejects department. All of these come alive with different characters which embed into the overall story. Another great team inside and we can honestly say there is no weak maze for Fright Nights 2024, which is fantastic to see.
Deadbeat – Scare Score: 84%
Theming 90% | Storyline 75% | Screams 90% | Laughs 80% | Actors 85%
Are you ready for a demonic rave to die for inside Deadbeat. The brand new maze for 2024, as the clock is about to strike midnight, you are invited for the best and possibly your last ever party. Invited by the main DJ himself, DJ Canistro, you enter into your classic nightclub but not everything is as it seems, with guests seeming unwell and being possessed by the music… and demons? The whole club has pulsating club music playing from the moment you enter the queueline and it great to see an attraction with a fun setting and theme but, also pretty intense. Deadbeat is the best maze at Thorpe Park Fright Nights this year and we don’t wish to spoil what is inside. So we recommend you get inside and enjoy the party as you might not be lucky enough to escape…
Overall, Thorpe Park Fright Nights 2024 is one of the best years we’ve seen for this event. With the new addition of Deadbeat providing a fun yet intense experience, then you have the surprising amendments to Trailers, it all comes together as a great improvement to an already strong event.
There is always lots to do at Fright Nights and whilst it is a shame the mazes are not free like they use to be, the quality and intensity of them have increased over recent years to provide a top quality night and giving them the title of the home of fear. With the years of experience the event has and the help of teams external from the likes of Unlocked Vision, they are able to create safe, unique and insane experiences for horror fans to enjoy time & time again.
