Are you ready to release the howl at the award winning scream park. The Howl is back for 16 nights this October with music, bars and top quality scare attractions. Found at Mead Open Farm, The Howl gets bigger and better each year and for 2024, 2 new attractions join the lineup to bring even more terror than ever before. Noxious Alley replaces Toppers Twister and Carnival Cabaret replaces Circus of Screams, as they go on a break from touring.
The Howl started on Friday 4th October and runs on selected nights throughout October. Tickets can start from £20-£60, depending on what level you book for. From a street pass to just enjoy the atmosphere, a standard Xscream pass to enjoy the attractions once or VIP, unlimited entry and Fast track all night! The doors open at 6pm and the scare attractions open at 6.30pm until 11pm each night, providing plenty of time to enjoy all of their offerings.

Our First thoughts…
The Howl is always high on our radar and as regular guests, we’ve been visiting for well over 7 years and it’s great to see how far they’ve come and see everything change. From the moment you arrive at the farm, you see lots of fire with their grand sign and ticket check in with was super quick. Once you enter in, they have many different entertainment hubs and for a site that isn’t that big, it’s great they have everywhere lively. From a DJ and bar area at one end, an outside DJ at the other end of the event and then an inside bar and band area inside the farm cafe. With club music being played, the roaming street Team being chaotic to all and plenty of food & drink being offered, it really does provide a true scream park Halloween experience.
With our VIP ticket, we managed to complete all of the attractions twice with a maximum wait of 5 minutes each time. We absolutely loved the new attraction Noxious Alley and getting on some of our favorites like The Shed & Howl Valley High. Outside of the haunts, we enjoyed some food which is a little expensive but in line with other Halloween events and the odd drink. The time flew by and before we knew it, our night came to an end.

Noxious Alley – Scare Score: 85%

Brand new for 2024, Noxious Alley was a huge surprise for us. Replacing the classic Toppers Twister clown maze, Dr Gallows has taken over with his grotesque clowns, covered in toxic chemicals and nightmarish intentions. Stepping into this chaotic neon nightmare, you come face to face with lots, and we mean lots of psychopathic clowns, as you navigate your way through a UV junkyard. We were attacked from high and low, from places you would least expect they would appear and scare upon scare, we jumped and screamed. We really loved how the main room to Noxious Alley, you could see all the way through, creating tension for what’s to come. With a bright colour overlay and lots of different characters inside, it felt very unique yet kind of keeping with a classic clown maze theme. For an opening night, the team did incredible and we are sure to have nightmares all Halloween after experiencing this.
Squealers yard – Scare Score: 75%

One of the more original attractions to The Howl, Squealers Yard has been around for some time now. Themed to your typical hillbilly family with all the gore and pigs inside, you go through and meet the family one by one as they use their creepy charm to lure you deeper within. We love the length of this attraction and the darkness, as it allows the creatures to really work their space and give you unexpected scares, however many times you go around. The use of effects to create sounds take you unexpectedly also and this combined with the actors really do compliment each other to create a really fun yet scary scare attraction. Especially one that has been at the event for a long time. We were left squealing for more!
Howl Valley High – Scare Score: 77%

With a theme we absolutely adore, Howl Valley High transports you into the world of an American high school, as you meet the students and teachers inside who have been zombified. Around each corner, you have a new immersive scene, from the gym, a prom dance, cafeteria and so many more. Each section is so detailed and with really quirky characters inside, keep the story flowing. We met the prom queen & king, teachers, jocks and some of the students. All of them brought something different, equally terrifying to the last scene. Overall it’s a really strong attraction with a unique theme that you must experience. It’s one hell of a high school which you really want to move quickly in.
Full Moon Manor – Scare Score: 81%

This attraction was new for last year and it was a welcome addition to The Howl. Starting with meeting the classic horror hotel receptionist, they give you a horrifying introduction into the story before you step into the Hellevator. From here, you enter the corridors of the manor and meet all the inhabitants, which are very creepy. They are hiding in the walls and fireplaces, in the shower and you even interrupt a wedding party in the attic. The whole way round you are given a true hellish hotel stay. It’s a solid attraction with plenty of jump scares, great level of theming and a high quality team of monsters inside.
RED – Scare Score: 74%

Red is a terrifying twisted tale of the classic fairytale, little red riding hood. As you enter in the dark forest and make your journey into Grandma’s house, but along your way, the creatures of the night make themself known as little red plays the evil character in the story. As you leave Grandma’s house, you find the big bad wolf and are left chasing your tail trying to find your way out of this horrifying story. The whole cast are genuinely creepy as they lurk from behind and hide within the themed sets and shrubbery. We screamed and we’re left disturbed walking through the dark forest. A short, sharp shock definitely sums up this maze.
The Shed – Scare Score: 77%

The Shed is a loud and feral attraction as the cast are truly something else. As one of the loudest mazes you’ll experience, they scream, shout, bang on the walls and everything in-between to make sure you notice their existence. As you travel through the narrow corridors in the darkness, the inhabitants could be hidden anywhere, high, low, from both sides, nowhere is left empty. Everybody inside is so feral and they play a horrifying piece in your short stay inside The Shed.
Carnevil Cabret – Scare Score: 45%
Theming 30% | Storyline 55% | Screams 25% | Laughs 50% | Actors 65%
A brand new circus show for The Howl, providing spooky and entertaining performances throughout the night. With multiple shows on each and every night, not every show is the same allowing you to see new circus acts time and time again. From a hellish Ariel act, to a pyro juggler, to many other talented circus acts. We loved the variety and how the show had plenty of fire and danger to it. Each show lasts around 20 minutes and the whole cast give a very circus of screams vibe, with a dance routine introduction. Well worth a watch if you love to see devilish acts.
Street Theatre
The Howls street Team is very unhinged as they have a range of characters who roam the queues and paths and will do anything to interact with you. If they leave you laughing or screaming, they’ve done their job well. From cheerleaders from Howl Valley High, the doctor from the new Noxious Alley or your classic chainsaw menaces, you won’t be left disappointed. A variety of terror awaits for anybody who steps within the grounds of The Howl.
We left howling all night long, with plenty of scares, laughs and truly immersive moments. The Howl have a great history and experience to be able to provide some of the best scares you’ll get this Halloween season. The new attraction Noxious Alley was a great addition to the already strong lineup, with us not being able to find a weak maze or moment, even on opening night!
With a great atmosphere with live music from the DJs and bands, plenty of food and drink and for us, great value for money on the VIP ticket to enjoy the mazes as much as you like.
