So getting thrown in straight to the experience was certainty different and interesting. Most people would expect a story or some knowledge, but here you meet an actor moments after you step into the building who directs you up the stairs in a haste. From here, you start going through the floors in total darkness (except the stair area which is dimly lit). For an introduction, we loved this as this meant they had removed the torches they gave everyone last year and made it much more fun. Getting split up immediately in the first room and put in a large dark room, it was pretty terrifying. With glimpses of the characters inside being The Cleansers, you would rather not see them, as they looked haunting and ready to give you a good scare. Whilst some rooms offered minimal light, this just added to the tension and scares. Whilst difficult to make your way around, it was still very possible as you head up each floor with different terrors hiding in each segment. 

One of our favourite parts of After Dark was the unexpected half way bar. In the lightest room of the whole venue, you came across a mad doctor who would be more than happy to serve you up a shot of courage before you put yourself back into the scare zone. A great idea and use of space for the small room which featured a large model of Frankenstein. 

Throughout the rooms, you do lose some elements of the theming as it is pretty dark but they have done well to keep some of the more unique props showing. As much as there was not really a story, there is traces of one with The Cleansers, which we would like to see them work on. The scare factor was done really well, with anybody scared of the dark, being alone and not knowing when something would come for you, this ticked all them boxes. This added to our enjoyment factor and found this just flowed well and better than it has ever done. The team behind the scares used their space brilliantly and provided the right level of engagement, from some being creepy, whilst others just went for the big scares.
