Our First thoughts…

JONACON injects a vibrant convention atmosphere into Phantom Peak, showcasing the latest developments at JONACO. The town pulsates with activity, interwoven through an overarching narrative and ten interconnected trails. While this season focuses on refinement rather than radical change, subtle thematic enhancements and minor improvements enrich the experience.

Returning for JONACON is the popular team-based element. Upon arrival, guests are assigned to one of three teams, engaging in a spirited competition to claim victory within a side storyline. This engaging feature, introduced in 2024, adds a dynamic layer to the adventure.

As frequent visitors, we relish exploring a selection of trails while immersing ourselves in the town’s lively side hustles. Time slips away easily, even for seasoned explorers. Beyond the main trails, Phantom Peak offers a plethora of diversions: free arcade and carnival games, unique photo opportunities, the iconic Platyhooks, and various team-focused challenges that contribute to your team’s success.

Our Experience

During our exploration, we delved into three of the ten newly launched trails. “Too Fast, Too Furrious” offered a comedic spin on Sonic the Hedgehog, showcasing a collection of humorous videos and clever character references. Phantom Peak’s mastery of satirical comedy is evident, seamlessly integrating well-known themes into their imaginative universe.

Our second trail, “Bad to the Bone,” brought the much-anticipated return of Sherlock Bones and the delightfully eccentric puppets. These puppet encounters consistently provide an element of surprise and whimsy. Lastly, we embarked on “Happily Never After,” a trail that presented a more somber narrative, revolving around a coerced wedding to avert Datchery’s demise.

We had the pleasure of engaging with beloved characters such as Halloway, Sparks, Hogwood, and Littlefield, among others. Phantom Peak’s character development has become increasingly impressive over the seasons. The return of familiar cast members allows for nuanced character growth, providing a rich experience for returning guests and a captivating introduction for first-time visitors.

The JONACON experience concludes with a celebratory finale, where the winning team—Mining, Mechanics, or Metaphysics—is revealed. Each performance presents a new opportunity, ensuring a fair chance for all. Although our team’s efforts landed us in last place, the ending also incorporates the poignant forced wedding from “Happily Never After,” creating a cohesive narrative conclusion. A final, energetic song and dance featuring the entire cast serves as a memorable farewell, capturing the essence of Phantom Peak’s delightful absurdity.

While JONACON may not have reached the heights of our past favorites, it provided a rich tapestry of comedic moments, engaging puzzles, and pure entertainment. From the irresistible allure of Platyhooks to the immersive character interactions and the simple pleasure of enjoying refreshments, Phantom Peak offers an experience that resonates with a broad audience.

Our sincere thanks to the Phantom Peak team for hosting us during the 2025 season opener. They generously provided complimentary tickets in exchange for our honest review. With the future of this location uncertain, we strongly recommend experiencing one of London’s most unique attractions before it transforms.
