Dive into Adventure at the UK’s Number 1 Tropical Indoor Aqua Park: Waterworld!
Nestled in the heart of the Midlands, in Stoke-on-Trent, awaits the UK’s premier tropical indoor aqua park: Waterworld Leisure Resort. Open year-round, this aquatic paradise boasts over 30 exhilarating rides and attractions, including the thrilling Thunderbolt, the UK’s first trap door drop waterslide! Beyond the adrenaline-pumping slides, Waterworld offers an outdoor pool, comprehensive fitness facilities, annual passes, and a host of other compelling reasons to immerse yourself in this watery wonderland. Since its opening in 1989, Waterworld has continuously evolved, solidifying its reputation as a leading destination for water fun.
Waterworld welcomes visitors throughout the year at its location within Festival Park, which also features a minigolf course – you can find more details on that by clicking HERE!. While opening times vary, the typical hours are from 10 am to 5:30 pm, and the most up-to-date information can be found on their website. Ticket prices are subject to peak and off-peak periods, with guests taller than 1.1m priced at £24 per person. Children under this height can enter for £20, and the resort offers a variety of family deals and even combination tickets with the minigolf. For locals or frequent visitors, annual passes are available at £149 per person for all peak times or £99 per person for off-peak access. Please note that car parking is charged at £6 for up to 10 hours, and locker bands require a £5 refundable deposit.
For those planning a full day of aquatic adventures, Waterworld provides convenient on-site facilities, including the Splash Cafe for food and refreshments.
Delving into the heart of Waterworld, you’ll discover a vast array of thrilling slides and exciting features designed to keep visitors of all ages entertained. The expansive wave pool generates sizable waves at regular intervals, announced by a clear alert, providing family-friendly fun. This pool seamlessly connects to a dedicated children’s area, complete with an engaging splash tower featuring smaller slides and interactive elements. Following the flow, you’ll encounter the exhilarating rapids pool, where powerful jets propel you along a circular course. Adjacent to these pools, you can find relaxing bubble pools, and if the weather permits, the outdoor pool offers another dimension of aquatic enjoyment. As you can see, Waterworld is brimming with cool, fun, and exciting attractions – and we haven’t even touched upon the thrilling waterslides!
To commemorate its 30th anniversary, Waterworld unveiled an impressive new slide tower, introducing four fantastic additions to their already impressive lineup. First up is Thunderbolt, a truly adrenaline-pumping trap door drop slide. Experience the sensation of a near-vertical freefall, reaching speeds of up to 25mph on what is undoubtedly their most exhilarating ride. Cyclone offers a different kind of thrill – a vibrant and fast tube ride that can be enjoyed solo or younger guests can ride with an adult, sending you spinning through a colorful dome. Stormchaser lives up to its name as Waterworld’s longest ride, featuring a captivating display of flashing lights, a dynamic color show, and even moments of complete darkness. Finally, there’s Hurricane, a body slide that incorporates exciting lighting effects and reaches speeds of up to 17mph. These new slides are a fantastic addition to Waterworld, and on all our recent visits, they have been a must-ride, consistently delivering great thrills.
Beyond the new additions, Waterworld boasts another impressive slide tower in the center of the aqua dome, featuring five distinct slides. Side-by-side, you’ll find Blackhole, Python, and Super Flume. Blackhole lives up to its name, offering a thrilling, pitch-black ride filled with twists and turns. Python provides a spinning sensation as you pick up speed and swing from side to side before the final splashdown. Super Flume combines dark sections with exciting twists and turns for a fun and varied descent. Situated on the same tower is the Space Bowl, a classic favorite. This slide sends you on a fast drop before you spin around the large bowl and then splash into the pool below. Then finally just on a level a little higher, you have the Twister, which delivers on high-intensity thrills!
The final slide tower houses two more exciting options. Nucleus, Waterworld’s original water rollercoaster, propels riders uphill and down at speed in a ring, making it a hit with families of all ages. Adjacent to it is the Multi Lane Racer, featuring four lanes where you can challenge your family and friends to a fun and competitive race to the bottom.
Waterworld’s diverse selection of slides truly caters to everyone. Some offer high-speed thrills and adrenaline-pumping drops, while others provide opportunities for friendly competition and enjoyable family entertainment.
Ultimately, Waterworld stands as a premier destination for some of the UK’s most thrilling and enjoyable waterslides. Beyond the adrenaline-pumping drops, the sheer variety of slides ensures endless entertainment with each visit. And if that weren’t enough, the additional features like the exhilarating wave pool and the dynamic rapids consistently contribute to a fantastic experience. Every time we visit, there always seems to be an abundance of activities, guaranteeing we never leave feeling bored.
A massive thank you to the team at Waterworld for their collaboration on our most recent visit. We greatly appreciate the complimentary entry provided to facilitate this updated review for our audience. We were also granted special filming permission after Waterworld closed to the public, as filming is understandably restricted during regular operating hours for safety reasons.
