After Dark House of Frankenstein Review ()

INTRODUCTION

Prepare for the nights to die for! After Dark presents Parasomnia returns this Halloween season, transforming the daytime museum into a terrifying scare maze. Step directly into a nightmare where reality blurs as you take on scenes of total darkness, confined spaces, and an assault on the senses, attempting to make it back out of the building alive. The event is located inside the House of Frankenstein museum in Bath. While the venue typically shares the story of Mary Shelley and hosts escape rooms during the day, for Halloween they add this frightening out-of-hours experience. The attraction runs on selected dates from October 18th until November 1st, with slots available between 6:00 PM and 10:30 PM. The experience lasts approximately 15–20 minutes, and you enter in your own group to explore all the rooms. Entry costs start from £15.50.

THE OVERALL EVENT…

Given the limited size and space constraints of the museum building, the After Dark attraction is structured as a focused scare maze rather than a large-scale event.

However, the team has really tried their best to maximize the space and enhance the visit. They offer the Bloody Mary Bar, where guests can grab a drink or one of their special concoctions both before and after the maze. They also keep their popular escape rooms open late, providing a separate paid opportunity if you wish to take on a late-night puzzle challenge.

These elements combine to ensure the visit is well worth your time, despite the smaller footprint.

Overall, After Dark presents Parasomnia has delivered another strong year, providing plenty of scares and fun. While there were minimal changes and the attraction remains very similar to previous seasons, this formula clearly works for them, making it an increasingly popular and different event to do in the Bath location.

The high intensity and incredible actor performances make it a terrifyingly worthwhile experience. We truly hope to see the event take a fresh approach in 2026, offering a new theme or significant upgrades to the core attraction.

Tickets are limited for the rest of the run, so if you’re looking for something unique and genuinely scary close to the Bristol and Bath area, we highly recommend you book now!
