Step into the ancient wonder of Aztec Island and prepare for an unforgettable 18-hole adventure like no other. This brand new minigolf experience has launched, putting your skills to the test with a tale of two terrains. Battle through the jungle terrain in the first half, followed by the smooth beach terrain in the second half. The game is all to play for at Aztec Island.
You can find this new minigolf in the town of Stourbridge, just outside the town center. It’s easily walkable, but they also have a shared car park with free parking for guests. Hosted inside a warehouse-style building, the bottom floor is dedicated to the minigolf course, while the top floor houses a bar and eatery space.
Opening earlier this year, Aztec Island offers a variety of events and promotions to keep you coming back. Enjoy Disco Golf in the evenings, a spooky overlay at Halloween, and even Happy Hour at the bar with fantastic drink deals! It’s always best to check online directly before visiting to see what’s on, as offerings may change seasonally.
Prices vary depending on your visit, with standard and off-peak pricing. Adult tickets are £12 off-peak and £14 standard, with discounted rates for children under 12 and under 5. Opening hours also vary, so it’s best to check online before booking, which is recommended in advance, although they do accept walk-in bookings.
We visited during the end of the Halloween season, which meant we got to see the venue themed and decorated with an unusually spooky overlay. Greeted with red lights, animatronics, and spooky music, the atmosphere was more than we expected but very much welcomed. Upon entry, you head along the middle of the course and up the stairs to the bar area to check in. We didn’t get to try their food during our visit, but the drink offers and deals were good value, with plenty of cocktails, soft drinks, beer, and other options available.
Starting our journey on the 18-hole adventure, the courses were all very different at first glance. Some presented challenging elements, themed set pieces, and plenty of humps, bumps, and tricky pathways to navigate. The first 9 holes were more jungle-themed, with the course texture resembling that of a typical adventure golf course – a felt surface. The animatronics and lights truly enhanced this side, adding to the fun, especially during the Halloween season with their interactive elements.
The second half of the course shifted to a more beach-like vibe and a more difficult challenge. This terrain was much smoother and lacked the barriers to protect your ball from going out of play. While more precision was required, it was a tad frustrating compared to the first half. We felt some sides were needed to help prevent golf balls from straying everywhere. That being said, it was refreshing to see the course change halfway through, forcing everyone to adapt their playing style.
As our time came to an end at Aztec Island, we had a great time playing some minigolf. While the course has its flaws, particularly in the second half, it offered a unique style of gameplay with two distinct terrains. In addition to this, they truly went the extra mile for Halloween with their spooky overlay. While seasonal, it’s exciting to see that they may incorporate similar themes for Christmas or other times of the year. We would be eager to return for Disco Golf, as this transforms the venue into a party atmosphere with vibrant lights and a DJ playing popular songs. It’s great to see this tailored towards the adult market during selected evenings.
A huge thank you to the team for inviting us to come and experience Aztec Island Adventure Golf. They did provide us with two free tickets to play in return for our comments and thoughts. All tickets are best purchased in advance online and can be done directly via their website.
