Conveniently located in Camden, Babylon Park is approximately a pleasant 10-minute walk from the tube station. Navigating there is straightforward; simply stroll along the bustling Camden High Street before following the clear signage and bright lights that mark its entrance.
While exploring Babylon Park won’t cost you anything initially, participation in the arcade games and rides requires either a wristband or a pre-loaded Babylon card with credits. The wristband offers unlimited access to a selection of arcade games and rides for a designated period, with options ranging from 1 to 2 hours – the latter being a highly recommended duration to fully experience the park. Alternatively, for those planning on enjoying just a few attractions, the Babylon card can be easily topped up with coins at various machines within the venue. A range of credit packages is available, so it’s advisable to take a brief look around first to gauge your needs before making a purchase.
The pricing for these options varies depending on the duration and package. Unlimited wristbands typically range from £30 to £50 per person, with potential discounts for group bookings. For the most up-to-date information on Babylon card credit packages, it’s best to check the pricing displayed at the in-park machines.
Upon entering Babylon Park, you arrive on the uppermost level, which houses the reception and gift shop. Here, you can have any inquiries addressed, purchase souvenirs and treats, and conveniently check the pricing on the various machines. Descending the escalator, you begin your immersive journey into a space-themed wonderland as you reach the second level. This floor offers a relaxed atmosphere with a café, a soft play area, and a selection of games tailored for a younger audience. It’s an ideal space for families, providing ample room to unwind away from the main activity on the level below.
Continuing down another escalator, you arrive at the lowest floor, the vibrant heart of the entertainment. The immersive experience intensifies as you venture deeper into Babylon Park. During your descent, glimpses of the rollercoaster appear to your right, while an array of arcade games and other rides come into view on your left, with an impressive prize redemption counter directly ahead.
True to its space-themed underground concept, Babylon Park is alive with flashing lights and captivating celestial props at every turn. The environment feels modern and clean, and it was notably popular even during an off-peak visit. We were eager to explore the games and experience the rides, though it’s worth noting that Babylon Park leans more towards catering to families with children rather than solely adults (unless, of course, you have a fondness for arcade games!).
Babylon Park offers a respectable selection of ride options. The rollercoaster, while not towering, provides a surprisingly forceful and fast-paced experience, offering a unique perspective of the entire park during its three family-friendly laps. You’ll also find a mini drop tower, a classic carousel, and a leisurely car ride. The bumper cars stood out, delivering a distinctly different experience with their drifting motion around the compact track, creating a cool, futuristic aesthetic and proving to be genuinely entertaining even for adults. Additionally, a small Tagada ride offers a spinning and bouncing thrill, particularly appealing to younger visitors. While the number of rides isn’t extensive, it’s certainly sufficient to keep families engaged, and we appreciated the lack of queues, indicating that even on a busy day, wait times are minimal.
We also enjoyed exploring a variety of arcade games, including some of the latest VR experiences ranging from immersive shooting simulations to axe throwing. The inclusion of these VR games in the wristband is a significant perk, allowing for unlimited attempts to maximize ticket earnings for prize redemption. We particularly enjoyed the pinball machines and air hockey, relishing the freedom to play as much as we liked without the constant concern of additional costs. It’s worth mentioning that not all games are included; some prize-focused and high-ticket games appear to be excluded. Unfortunately, we did encounter a number of arcade games that were out of order, which did limit our overall playing options.
In conclusion, our experience exploring Babylon Park was thoroughly enjoyable, from the unique rides and diverse arcade games to the fascinating futuristic theme nestled beneath London. It’s certainly a novel attraction for the city, and its popularity across various age groups was evident. While it offers a particular thrill for children who enjoy both rides and arcade games, we observed families of all ages having a fantastic time discovering everything Babylon Park has to offer.
