Ballie Ballerson 2022 Review

Ballie Ballerson is the brainchild of the founder, and started back in 2016 as a critically acclaimed pop-up venue for the unique experience, blending the childhood nostalgia of ball pits and the grown-up cocktails. Later in 2017 the permanent venue opened in Shoreditch “Ten times bigger and filled with just over a million balls, once again Ballie Ballerson was on everybody’s ‘must do’ list.”!

Ballie Ballerson is an 18+ venue and has a strict no ID, no entry policy – seriously, leave the adults to be big kids! The venue runs multiple events from special offers on different days, to specific themed nights; including Valentines weekend with 4 different types of nights to suit everyone from friends to partners. There’s also a monthly ‘Full Moon’ party with plenty of UV!

There are three main ticket types. General admission gives entry to the venue, plus a two hour session to use the ball pits, the rest of the venue is still accessible after. VIP tables include venue entry and a welcome cocktail, plus 2 hour access to the special seated area as well as ball pit access. Bottomless brunch sessions include seating options or stand up tables (depending on ticket type), 2 hours venue and ball pit access, plus 90 minutes of unlimited pizza and fizz.

We headed there on a Friday night in January for a general admission party. There was no queue upon arrival, but the venue was very lively already as you’d expect from a nightclub/bar venue. At the venue’s reception you collect the wristband for your allocated 2 hour ball pit time slot. The venue is relatively small but manages to pack in a VIP area, stand-up tables, some seats and a dancefloor with bar area… plus of course the two secluded ball pits.

The service at the bar was pretty quick and included a lot of showboating from the lively staff – plenty of fire! The drinks menu had a fair bit of variety including speciality cocktails all in different drinks containers with their own decorations (averaged around £10 per cocktail). There was a DJ playing a variety of throwback, RnB and club anthems, which worked well with the lighting set-up (disco ball included) and co2 cannons.

At Ballie Ballerson the wristband gives unlimited entry to both of the ball pits during your time slot, these are checked by security at the entrance to each. The smaller ball pit located next to the dancefloor is an instagrammers paradise, with the back walls covered in giant love hearts incorporating many punny captions. The main ballpit arena was quite large and featured wall and ceiling mirrors, plus lights and speakers, it creates a great vibe especially with the clear balls changing colours with the lights; this is definitely the more playful of the two with ball pit fights left right and centre!

We really enjoyed our visit and spent over 2 hours at the venue enjoying the music, lighting package, cocktails, atmosphere and of course the balls (ball pit to clarify). We’d like to thank Ballie Ballerson for providing us with two general entry tickets during our visit.
