Roll up, roll up, the circus is back in town! Circus Extreme has made a return to the UK as part of its World Tour with an absolutely outstanding performance. With five years in the making, Circus Extreme is a show like no other featuring some of the most talented performers from all corners of the globe. Combining modern day stunts and contemporary styles with a variety of segments from the classic, original circus, the production of the show is packed full of unique elements that are bound to have audiences wanting more. The show itself employs 26 gifted performers and 44 members of the crew to travel the globe showcasing unique talents. With more than 30 trucks along with the Europe’s largest Touring Big Top, complete with climate control and comfortable theatre style seating, this show is not to be missed.
Circus Extreme aims to put a smile on the audiences faces and whether you are a petrol head, theatregoer or thrill seeker, there really is something for everyone to enjoy. To celebrate the founding of the circus by Philip Astley over 250 years ago, Circus Extreme is the 21st century’s answer to the horse riding, acrobats and jugglers displayed through the streets of London to crowds big and small all those years ago. Circus Extreme itself is home to numerous world record holding acts including a wedding that took place on a high wire 30 feet off the ground, the first performance of a high wire and double wheel of death to ever be showcased in the UK as well as the world-famous Henry, Prince of Clowns, who broke the world record for the most skips on a tightrope in one minute!
After travelling back to their original countries due to the covid-19 pandemic, these world class acts have flown in, are reunited, have warmed up and are ready to give the performance of a lifetime. Due to the diverse culture and background in the city, Circus Extreme are kicking off their UK tour in London followed by Reading, Surrey, Birmingham, Leeds, Halifax and Bournemouth. We were lucky enough to be invited to the attend show in London and the venue did not disappoint. With easy access via tube, just a five minutes’ walk from Shepherds Bush station, the big top is hard to miss!
The 2023 World Tour started on the 31st March and continues across multiple locations until the 30th July at present. Tickets can be purchased on the day, online or via the box office. All details on how to book the tickets are best found the Circus Extreme website.
Tickets vary in price based on seating. Seating options are rear circle, side circle, grandstand and VIP ringside. The table below shows ticket pricing. Please note, tickets for visitors who require accessible seating and wheelchair access are available only via the box office and not online (please see details above about how to contact the box office).
The Circus Extreme show is 2 hours in duration with a short interval. With a huge array of performances from clowns to acrobats, ballerinas to motorbikes and roller skates to tightrope walkers, there really is something for all to enjoy.
Although all the acts were of world class standards with no wire or harnesses in sight, the key performances that stood out for us were the tightrope walkers, aerial performances, clown and the motorbike stunt finale.
To begin with, the tightrope walkers in the show are the named the Danguir High Wire Troupe originally from Morocco. Musstafa Danguir has been performing since the age of 11 and is a world record holder for riding a motorbike across the highest tightrope in the world at 426 feet high. This tightrope troupe performed a range of different tricks keeping the audience on the edge of their seat including a stunt never before seen in the UK, the double summersault along with the double wheel of death!
Secondly, there were several aerial performances throughout the show were entertainers fly through the air demonstrating their talents. From aquatic aerial rings combining elements of fire, air and water with outstanding lighting and music effects, to the Ukrainian duo, Duo Polischuk. Performing death defying stunts, Duo Plischuk kept the crowd’s attention as they showcase jaw dropping stunts. These talents have the ability to hold each other by their teeth while swinging and hanging from the roof of the big top.
Next comes the hilarious Henry Prince of Clowns who did not fail to keep the audience entertained throughout the show with his comedy and silliness. Originally from Venezuela, it is clear that Henry Ayala is a truly multi-talented performer. While performing with singers, dancers and even encouraging members of the audience to participate in the show, Henry Price of Clowns is a true asset to the overall performance!
Last but definitely by no means least, the grand finale features an outstanding display of motorbikes and stunts! Literally taking our breath away, these artists are definitely set to wow petrol heads, adrenaline junkies and audiences of all kind! Recently returning from their European tour, the extreme freestyle motocross team make a return with the most death-defying act ever demonstrated, the Globe of Death! These talents are put to the test as they vertically and horizontally loop around the dome under extreme G-force. But if you think this is extreme, there’s more!! These adrenaline junkies are back with the circus to bring audiences jaw dropping stunts as they battle for air space and fly through the big top and over the globe of death showcasing extreme motorbike stunts such as the superman and nac nac. This element of the show was absolutely show stopping and what a fantastic finale!
Overall, we had a wonderful evening attending Circus Extreme and a huge thank you to Ed Hopkins PR for the invitation. Throughout the whole show, these entertainers had the audience in the palm of their hand and all performers are extremely talented and are a true asset to Circus Extreme. If you are thinking about paying a visit to the show, this is one of the best we have ever seen and would absolutely recommend!
