Heading into the first attraction, Death Metal Manor, the introduction tent immediately set the scene with décor themed around guitars and other musical nods.

Stepping inside, the audio is super noticeable right away, with heavy metal music powerfully driving the entire maze. The lighting was meticulously sequenced to match the music and the scenes within the manor house. While we don’t recall a large number of special effects, the route was long and delivered plenty of scares and enjoyable moments.

The flow worked exceptionally well due to the small group dispatches; we didn’t catch up with a single other group throughout this entire opening maze, which is quite impressive considering its length.

This maze was the first of the next two attractions after a short wait, and it was certainly very interesting. It transports you into the world of Mexico as you step foot into a dive bar deep in the Mayan jungle.

The creatures inside take the form of reptilian shapeshifters, and my god, they were creepy. The concept is so different from anything we’ve seen in recent years; we loved how a dive bar was featured and how the team found horrifying creatures to inhabit it.

While we didn’t feel the cast was utilized to their full potential in terms of jump scares, their performance was still nightmare material, thanks to their horrifying looks and unsettling movements.

After a short stop in the halfway zone, the next maze was Summer Camp Massacre. This attraction brings “movie night” to Horrorfest, inviting you to watch the most feared slashers of all time.

It quickly becomes clear that these films have escaped the screen and are now walking the campsite. The scares here were truly terrifying, featuring scenes that are pure nightmare fuel. You are kept constantly on edge, never knowing where the next threat will come from—be it behind you, from the side, or even above you!

While we didn’t find the enjoyment value as high compared to the other mazes (due to the relentless nature of the scares), the performance from the actors was absolutely top-notch.

The final attraction is the iconic Killer Clowns with Greatest Hits. This maze acts as a fantastic mashup of the best moments from previous Killer Clown attractions, similar to a “Best Of” compilation CD.

We have always enjoyed this maze, and it was great to experience a few eras we missed, including the spaceship era, the supermarket era, and the Ibiza era.

The flow was a little bunched up near the end, but it wasn’t severe enough to ruin the attraction. The audio and lighting throughout were, as always, fantastic, with classic party hits playing and lasers visible right from the start. We truly enjoyed this “greatest hits” compilation and felt it was a fun, high-energy ending to another great year.
