Returning with a vengeance, Luna Springs presents Meltdown: Victor’s Revenge for 2024. This Halloween event promises scares, entertainment, and bottomless brunches. Yes, they’ve got you covered for good times only. Prepare yourself for an adrenaline-fueled journey through this twisted maze of terror as the maze continues the story from its debut last year.
Meltdown has been created by the team Genius Creations, a Birmingham-based team with a huge passion and experience in the scare industry. They’ve teamed up with the entertainment venue Luna Springs for a second year to produce a bigger and better event for the Halloween season. This includes a new circus show, a bottomless brunch by the venue, plus other entertainment and side stalls.
Luna Springs is located in Digbeth, near Birmingham. They’re in an industrial estate, but the area is lively with plenty of businesses. During our visit, it was super lively and busy. The event ran on selected dates in October and early November. The maze was the headline attraction, but the bottomless brunch included entry into the maze before you could enjoy food and drinks in the main indoor arena. Ticket costs varied depending on whether you wanted to do just the maze, the bottomless brunch, or simply soak up the atmosphere of the venue.

Our First thoughts…
With this being our second visit to the Luna Springs venue after last year, we were very excited to return. Especially when Meltdown by Genius Creations was one of our best mazes in 2024, being highly rated in storytelling and the most fun maze.
Heading to the venue, it was pretty busy upon entry with a short wait to get into the main arena and collect our timeslot entry tickets. Once you are in, you are free to do as you wish until your timeslot of the maze itself. So we had a walk around, listened to the music indoors and kept warm on a slightly damp night and had some food. Whilst expensive, it was actually pretty decent, with smashed burgers and other similar items on sale. It was a little difficult to order food, with some people still having bottomless brunch and this crossing over with guests not doing that.
Heading outside, this has changed drastically compared to last year. Gone is the huge funfair ride, now replaced an outdoor covered seating area and the use of the stage which hosts a variety of circus acts. Titled Dr Hades Freaks, they have frequent smaller shows that come on stage and show there freaky acts. This was nice to see more entertainment and a reason to be outside compared to last years offering. They also had some shock chairs and a scare station, which allowed you to scare people inside the maze, which is brand new. The whole event had a much nicer vibe and the event felt more complete outside of just the maze.

Meltdown has a great storyline that continues from last year’s story. For those who visited, they can continue the adventure with Victor and his lab & experiments. For those who haven’t visited, this isn’t a problem, as the maze’s story doesn’t require any prior knowledge to understand. We love how they mix stop-show scenes where you meet the main characters with scare sections. They’ve really gone all out on production value this year, with these show scenes being more visually impressive than ever before. The scares were strong in the relevant areas and it was really creepy in other sections. The maze uses a mixture of scares and laughs to create an enjoyable experience, lasting around 10-15 minutes. With limited space, they’ve managed to cram a lot in, with some huge themed pieces that we haven’t seen anywhere else, as they create them themselves. A huge standout moment has to be the ending show scene, with a large reactor that goes nuclear, sparks flying, and the room collapsing around you, which is insane! The tension levels increase the further you go in, with so many improvements on set scenes from last year, which is fun to see in the rooms that haven’t changed visually. The whole maze is really strong from start to finish and has some fantastic set pieces, special effects, and story to make it unique and what it is.
To conclude our time at Luna Springs, Meltdown was fantastic with its nuclear ending, impressive storytelling, and large set pieces. They have managed to upgrade the maze to continue on their success from last year and just take their strengths to a whole new level. Outside of that, they have taken the whole event and expanded the entertainment to keep you enjoying the Halloween festivities for longer! Meltdown is one of the best overall attractions we have done throughout the Halloween season and it shows in our scores.
A huge thank you to the team for inviting us along to experience the whole event on their closing day. Whilst the event is now over by the time our review is online, they will be back, bigger, better, and maybe with new surprises in store for the 2025 season! They provided us free entry in return for our review, allowing us to get some exclusive snippets inside the maze once they had closed.
