The main new attraction for summer 2024 was Disaster, The Blockbuster Tour. This attraction opened in July and was all fresh and new for our visit in August. Themed to a behind the scenes, backlot style tour, we got to see a large number of set scenes which may or may not of gone to plan. As you get onto the tour bus, you have multiple TV’s on board, which whilst in Italian, they have text translation in English to tell you more about what you are going to see on your tour.

We got to see a number of large scenes such as King Kong, before being flooded out of the area with spectacular water effects. We even entered a tornado simulator building with a giant 360 screen which made us all feel super disorientated. The biggest surprise element on the tour was the use of live actors in several scenes. From dancing along with the demons through to being offered some whisky by the gangsters, we’ve never seen anything quite like it! Whilst not the highest of budgets or quality, the whole experience comes together as something you wouldn’t experience elsewhere in the world. The mixture of the film stage sets through to the live actors and behind the scenes elements, such as all the props used in past and present attractions at Movieland, it came together remarkably well. One of our favourite new attractions for 2024 for sure!

Outside of all the fun we had with the rides & attractions, there is plenty going on with just the shows. The main show being the U.S Army Stunt Show, which is hosted in a large arena and contains pyro, a large talented cast, lots of different vehicles and of course, stunts. From speed boats, tanks, motorbikes to even a plane coming at you, there is lots going on in this high octane performance based on Rambo. If you are lucky enough, you might even get selected as an extra to help in the show! 

There are so many different types of shows, with the start of the day show set on the Hollywood street at the front of the park. This includes singing, dancing and comical moments but was mainly best to watch if you understand Italian. There is singing shows on throughout the day with certain themes to films and at the end of the day, there is a firework and singing show. Whilst only a small 5-10 minute show, it is always great to end your day on during a long summers visit.

We managed to also catch another live show known as Overdrive, where they film a few scenes in front of you live with a whole cast of actors and behind the scenes team. They use a range of guests in the crowd to put it all together with the actors and then at the end of show, put together a trailer from the film which is always custom made due to the extras being different each show. You don’t get to see many shows like this where you witness a difference performance every time!
