Are you ready to experience the world’s first fully immersive open world adventure? Welcome to Phantom Peak, one of the newest and craziest experiences you can now take part in, hidden in the depths of the UK Capital, London!
Phantom peak is a steampunk themed adventure which takes you to an interactive mining town, where nothing is as it seems. Interact with the folk, explore the hidden mysteries within the town and maybe stop for a bite to eat! With over 100 adventures and games available in the land of Phantom Peak, also known as the Venice of the West, one thing is only for sure… that you’ll have 5 hours at your own pace to explore & conquer.
With Phantom Peak being a World’s first, you are probably thinking what is this crazy otherworldly experience? Well the best way to explain it is a combination of the latest immersive theatre style performance, with a cross over of an open world role playing game adventure. It sounds very exciting over on the website without giving too much away and since it being announced earlier this year, it has kept us very intrigued!
You get to choose your own path throughout your adventure at Phantom Peak. You have 5 hours to explore as much or as little as you wish. If you fancy speaking with the locals, or solving a mystery, or just having some food, drink and enjoy a boat ride, all is very much possible in this world. Like all immersive theatre however, the more you put into it, the more you will get out of the experience. There is lots to do, much to see but not enough time to do it all so choose wisely!
Get lost in the immersive world of Phantom Peak, as they open for 5 hours usually between the times of 5pm to 10pm on Wednesdays through to Sundays (Saturday & Sunday have a 11am – 4pm slot). The gates open to this open world right on time, so we recommend being early to maximise your time here. You may question is it worth 5 hours? Our answer would be 100% worth every single minute you can be here, if anything 5 hours isn’t enough and multiple visits would be needed to explore everything and solve each mystery.
The experience is hosted a short walk from Canada Water on the overground line. Tickets start from around £34 so value for money in terms of length of activity over the experience is pretty incredible compared to other entertainment you would find in London.
So how does Phantom Peak work? What do you do? What is there to do? These are all questions we had prior to arriving and don’t worry, it gets explained to you on arrival and it is all very simple yet very clever. When you arrive, you get to meet some of the locals as they welcome you to the town and they set you up for what you are after.
The main activity is completing the adventure trails and working out the mysteries that Phantom Peak hides. To do this, you head to a website and fill in a short survey. From here, it recommends a trail to begin on and it then starts your journey with where to go and what to do.
Whilst that sounds simple, it isn’t that easy. You need to speak to a range of characters, introducing yourself and playing a part of the story. You have to say the right things, solve puzzles and get them to like you to help you. They need your help as much as you need theirs! You can’t just skip a step of these mobile adventure trails, you have to input answers that you can only get whilst at Phantom Peak and completing set tasks by talking to the right people and doing the right things.
These trails will take you all over Phantom Peak, maybe even into the old town where a terrible past lies… The story of Phantom Peak is quite interesting and detailed both prior to visiting and whilst there investigating the truth. Whilst known as Phantom Deeps in the past, it had a terrible blimp crash which damaged half of the town! However, thanks to Jonas from JONACO, he managed to build the town back up and implement some of his amazing technology and recreate a more happier, brighter town known as Phantom Peak!
Whilst it sounds like a happy story, Phantom Deeps is the old part of town that still exists and some people have remained. Not all believe in JONACO and what he brings to the town. For the first time ever, he has opened the gates to allow outsiders in to explore and become a tourist in the town. Are you with the Phantom Peak residents with the chants of “IN JONAS WE TRUST” or, are you a little more sceptical like the old town folk?
Outside the adventure trials and meeting the locals, there is still tonnes to do. You can explore the shops and stalls set out in Phantom Peak, purchasing merchandise or even food & drink. They have a few different food and drink options, with 2 bars, 1 general store and even a hat shop! There are a few food options too, from tacos to burgers, or how about an ice cream? The prices are as you expect with London but they are fair and not overcharged for what you are getting.
There are also fun carnival games and special events that happen throughout the day and your time at the event. It is worth checking the notice board and looking around, as certain special activities happen only during selected times. Such as Platyhooks, where you can try and win a rosette by catching as many platypuses as possible! You can try your luck at one of the few carnival games available too, such as a memory game or a wheel based maths game. They are a small upcharge at £1 per go but compared to your local theme park or similar, this is an absolute steal!
There is even the local boat ride you can experience, although we were a little disappointed with this as it was pretty empty and was the weakest part of this experience. So we wouldn’t recommend queuing for this if you are enjoying everything else the world has to offer!
Phantom Peak has a lot to offer and whilst we have given you a breakdown of what to expect, we don’t wish to fully spoil your experience as it is something you have to do in person. We wanted to highlight some of our favourite elements of this new World’s first adventure!
One of the best features of Phantom Peak is how the actors are incredible and are the best part of your time here. From how they interact with you, some of them even remembering you and how many times you may need to speak with the same character or characters. Every character we got to engage with was a true asset to this experience and they are all magnificent at what they do. The best tip we can give you is to engage with them and have fun.
Linking with the characters, they are multi-purposed. They work behind the bars, they clean up, they work in the shops and games. This is truly revolutionary, as we have not come across an experience where the characters do absolutely everything. There isn’t a behind the scenes team or anything like that, the people you interact and deal with are the full package!
After each trail, you know you’ve completed it as you are given a playing card with the title of your mission. This is for you to keep and the objective is to collect as many as possible. It is a nice collectable to take away and if you were to return, you can complete the missions you didn’t get to the first time. We managed to complete 5 out of 16 missions available to us and, we know over time there is only going to be more.
Overall, Phantom Peak is the number 1 experience to do in London this year. This experience cannot be compared to anything else we have explored and we were left in awe from the moment we arrived to the very last minute of our time in the town. Each element comes together to create a world class adventure that has been designed to keep you thrilled all along your journey with them.
Tickets can be purchased via Feverup / via the attractions website and we must say a quick thanks to the team for allowing our team of 4 to attend on a Friday evening recently. It was complimentary in return of review, TikTok and thoughts of our adventure.
