Our visit took place in August during the Twilight Thrills event, which meant we had a generous 10-hour day from 11 AM to 9 PM, allowing us to enjoy the park without feeling rushed. We began our day on Avalanche, a bobsled coaster that seats one or two riders and navigates plenty of good-speed twists and turns. It’s always a fun ride for us, and we chose to ride it early as the queue often builds up quickly. We noted that the ride had a staggered opening time, beginning 30 minutes after the park opened.

Following that, we rode Revolution, a simple but enjoyable coaster that launches you out of the station, through a loop, and to the other side, where you do the same again in reverse. Afterward, we headed to the park’s newest major coaster, Icon. This multi-launch coaster has been incredibly popular since it opened in 2018. With airtime hills, inversions, and launches that interact with many of the other rides in the park, it’s a must-ride when visiting Blackpool.

Pleasure Beach Resort is home to many other rides, from the classic Ghost Train to the unique Wallace & Gromit’s Thrill-O-Matic, both of which are always a fun experience for us to revisit. Unfortunately, The Big One was closed during our visit due to high winds, which is a common occurrence on windy days. However, the weather didn’t stop the queue from building for Valhalla, and as always, we got absolutely soaked! We love this ride, and we consider it one of the park’s best.

Even though we visit Pleasure Beach Resort each year, it was a pleasure to get in a summer visit, which we don’t often have the chance to do. The Twilight Thrills event provided a day full of fun and was a great event overall. As our day of rides and enjoyment was coming to a close, we took some time to stop for a drink and catch the DJ playing in the plaza by the fountains, a really nice touch. It was a pleasant surprise that on what had been a rather overcast day, the sun came out just in time for the evening, making the atmosphere even better.

New for 2025 was the reimagined Launch Pad. This new version of the drop tower features a fresh theme and enhanced special effects, including smoke, lights, and audio. It’s a fun and welcome change to what was a standard drop tower. It’s also worth noting that the park is continuing to reimagine more of its rides and add to the resort in the coming years. River Caves is currently undergoing extensive refurbishment, and the Ghost Train is getting constant additions, demonstrating the park’s commitment to improving these classic attractions with so much history. The excitement doesn’t stop there: Aviktas will be a giant Gyro Swing and the first of its kind in the UK, a fantastic addition for Blackpool that is set to open in 2026 and cost almost £9 million.

Something else new for us to experience was the Hot Ice show, the resort’s iconic ice skating production. There are two shows daily in the summer: an early afternoon matinee and an evening show. We found a great deal that allowed us to watch the matinee for free with our park ticket and a discount for the evening show. While filming is not allowed, the show itself was incredible. With a very talented international cast, a plethora of special effects including lights, fire, and smoke, and a funky soundtrack with crazy stunts, we were captivated from start to finish. We are shocked that we had never watched this before, but now that we have, we will certainly have to revisit!
