Our First thoughts… 

We’ve never been to Psycho Path before as it is quite far away from ourselves living in the south. With a 300 mile journey from Bristol to Newcastle Upon Tyne for this trip, it was one that does take some dedication for sure. The reason we wanted to attend this year more so is due to them being award winning, the massive jump in new attractions & entertainment and the uniqueness of how they sounded. 

Upon arriving, we had a short wait before we got let in and had our tickets checked and a quick security search. You enter into the main indoor hub area, which has loud party music playing by the DJ and you are surrounded by a number of food vendors, Instagrammable picture opportunities and of course roaming actors. They have two bars in here and two of the mazes can be found in this section too. They had plenty of seating here and most of it can be found by the main stage where the shows would be happening. 

Heading outside, you can find the rest of the attractions, more food & drink locations and characters too. The area they have isn’t too large to lose yourself in but with how long the attractions are, it is surprising how big Psycho Path actually is. All of the roaming characters we met were funny & scary, providing lots of entertainment. We managed to get a few cool photo opportunities too before entering into the mazes. 

Food & drink were much cheaper than most other attractions we’ve been to and we hardly had to wait for anything. Of course with it being the first night we attended, they still were ironing out a few elements, such as the Psycho Cinema was not open but below we describe our thoughts & provide our scare ratings.

Crawl Space – Brand new for 2023

Another brand new attraction for 2023 and this is advertised as the most intense maze at Psycho Path for 2023. We should note that this attraction requires a reservation which you must do at the earliest opportunity when inside the venue and heading to the attraction. This is due to the limited numbers of people it can take, which we worked out is around 2 people every 5-10 minutes. 

Inside the attraction, you will of course be crawling along many different rooms and coming across a hillbilly like family as you have alone interaction with a range of characters. Each character was different from the last and all provided different scares and laughs. The attraction lasted a decent amount of time for a solo maze and it was designed really well. It had many spooky effects and claustrophobic moments from the moment go. Ultimately a must do attraction as we cannot see us doing something like this yet again this Halloween season at any other location.

Psycho City

Another returning attraction and this one is mainly based outside. Based on a dystopian city, you come across a range of characters that have taken over the land as they try and lure you in, or scare you away. We came across demons, homeless people and even a nun! Nothing was off limits when crossing through the city. Whilst in the day you can see a fair amount, trying to cross the city at night was much more scarier. With a more destroyed city theme and story, it provided a more simple story to follow as you made your way through and was more for screams and laughs with the inhabitants. A solid outdoor maze which is better than most and a huge well done to the team who managed to keep up with everything in the incredible wet conditions on our visit!

Corn-ered

Corn-ered is also a returning maze and is a rather large corn maze. As you enter into the darkness, you will come across the people of the corn as they try to tell you about the cult they have unfortunately fell into. This coming from the possessed people that you might come across, along with the 1-2 scarecrows and other inhabitants along the route. The screams did lack a little due to it being such a large space and the actors having to cover this large ground did leave many empty moments for us. The ones we did see was only for a brief moment but did give some frights when they came out of what seemed nowhere! The introduction and ending were very memorable and for those who are scared of the dark and silence, like being left alone in a large field, then you may find this very terrifying.

Thunder Dome

This unique interactive attraction does what it says, throwing you into a ‘dome’ like arena with laser guns which give you a shock (an upcharge of £2 per person is required for the shock pads that stick to your skin). The theming within the arena is what you’d expect from a combat game like this full of UV lighting along with wooden pallets, other defences and even a caravan. There were no actors involved in this haunt, but it still gave the biggest screams with the strong electric shock pulsing through your whole body every time you were shot on your target; this also made it a fun attraction laughing at each other, but we didn’t last long before it got too much to handle.
