Scream Time Margam Castle 2025 Review

Scream Time Margam Castle Review ()

INTRODUCTION

Scream Time UK has opened its doors once more for 2025, filled with eerie indoor spaces and shadowy estate grounds. After debuting successfully at Margam Castle in 2024, Scream Time has now ambitiously expanded to two further venues for 2025: Elvaston Castle and Wentworth Woodhouse! The event caters to a wide audience, offering a 15+ Scream Time experience alongside a family-friendly Spooky Time session for those aged 7+. Our focus for this review is the original, settled-in venue: Margam Castle in Port Talbot, Wales. The main trail is over 1 km long, winding through the historical castle and the grounds surrounding it, providing a uniquely historical setting for a Halloween event! The event ran on selected nights between October 15th and November 2nd, with entry slots available from approximately 7:00 PM to 9:45 PM. Tickets, available as standard, Fastrack, and VIP options, started from around £28.50 per person. As it is a singular attraction, the event provides a central hub in the castle grounds that includes food, drink, amusement rides, and a licensed bar.

THE OVERALL EVENT…

WOO – Uniqueness | WOO – F&B & Retail | BOO – Roaming Characters

While Scream Time operates three venues, we chose to visit the Margam Castle location this Halloween, impressed by its successful debut last year. Any event hosted at a castle is inherently special, providing a unique historical backdrop, potential haunting lore, and a naturally prime setting for a Halloween attraction. The event is structured into three distinct parts. The experience starts with the Introduction Trail to the Hub: upon arriving and after a short walk to the castle grounds, you get your tickets scanned and immediately start an outdoor trail (lasting about 10 minutes) that takes you up to the main castle itself. The Main Hub is located outside the castle entrance, featuring food, drink, a licensed bar, marshmallow toasting, an undercover seating area, and amusement rides. Despite the heavy rain on our night, we enjoyed this area the best we could, grabbing drinks and soaking up the music from the rides. The third part is The Castle and Outro: this includes the main building maze, which you queue for before entering the starting hall in large groups, followed by the walk back down to the exit. The weakest feature was the lack of dedicated roaming characters in the main hub area. Although the introduction and outro walks—which are part of the main trail—had plenty of performers, we would have liked to see more actors actively engaging guests while they were relaxing in the hub.

The Experience

WOO – Audio & Lighting | WOO – Enjoyment | BOO – SFX

Overall, Margam Castle proved to be a fantastic venue to host a scare event. Scream Time UK successfully delivered a great 30–40 minute trail featuring a range of creepy characters that utilize the entire site.

The eerie castle setting offered some excellent moments, but the attraction was ultimately let down by its limited theming and basic special effects inside the main building. We absolutely loved the hub halfway through; even in the rain, we had a great time and can only imagine how much more lively that area would be on a drier evening!

Scream Time UK has shown incredible ambition by expanding to three locations in 2025. This event is a solid foundation, and we are excited to see how they develop the core castle maze for an even stronger experience next year.

A huge thank you to the Scream Time UK team for inviting us to experience one of their locations this Halloween. They provided us with complimentary entry in return for our review, rating, and content.
