Splashdown Quaywest 2024 Review

Splashdown Quaywest

Looking for plans this summer? Then make sure Splashdown Quaywest is on your list, as the UK’s largest outdoor waterpark, you are guaranteed to have some flumin’ good fun with them. Splashdown Quaywest has been around for some time now and have plenty of experience in the thrilling waterpark scene. With plenty of slides on offer, from tube slides through to body dropping slides, they pretty much tick off everything you would want at a waterpark.

Splashdown Quaywest is perfect for a summers visit as it is a completely outdoor waterpark. With this said, the park has heated water, this is a key feature to note when visiting, so don’t let the british weather put you off if its a little chilly. They have also just signed a new lease with the council meaning, they can finally develop & expand, to make it even bigger and better.

We started to see new developments as early as last year, as 3Fall joined the lineup of slides. A multi lane racing slide which joined an existing slide tower. Now new for 2024, they target the younger audience with Shipwreck Island, an interactive aquatower featuring 7 slides perfect for guests under 12.

Shipwreck Island – New for 2024

Brand new for 2024, Splashdown Quay West have expanded the size of the waterpark, opening up a new section, creating more space and most importantly waterslides for younger guests to enjoy; something that the park has not been able to offer previously. Captain Lewey’s Shipwreck Island is a large splash tower full of slides and interactive water features surrounded by a shallow pool, perfect for the younger guests, plus lots of sunbeds for the grown-ups. It features 7 different waterslides each ending up in a shallow tray of water, some have enclosed tubes with natural light effects, others twist and turn around outside, or even the smallest of slides with two lanes and a small drop for people to slide side by side. The most prominent feature is the big ‘Cannon Falls’ tipping bucket which fills up with water and cascades down in a big splash!

Please note: this area is designed for children under 12 and their accompanying adults. We were able to experience and capture footage of this area prior to the public arriving on the day of our visit.

Slide Tower 1

3Fall is the newest major waterslide at Splashdown, but as the name suggests there’s 3 of them. In this waterslide you race down head first on a mat, heading through a tube with natural light effects, before heading down a sweeping drop to the finish line. Towering over 3Fall is the parks most iconic attraction, boasting the UK’s tallest and fastest waterslide experience. Devil’s Drop makes you brave hanging over the edge before plunging 65ft down a near vertical drop, which certainly gets your heart racing. Unlike the short sharp shock of Devil’s Drop, the other slides on this tower will give you some of the longest waterslide ride time around, as you grab a rubber ring and head down these multi-part attractions. Surf Lagoon and Raging Rapids are the two different routes you can take which feature many short slide sections twisting around, before ending up in mini pools where you meet back up with your family and friends!

Slide Tower 2

On your way up the tower the first slide you reach is called The Screamer, but don’t let the smaller size fool you, this 60 degree steep arc drop will very likely get a scream out of you! Heading up to the top, the second largest drop slide at the waterpark is the Wild Kamikaze which is for those not brave enough to take on Devils Drop; it takes the route over a longer distance with two less steep drops separated by a straight flat section, but still gives a great thrill. Corkscrew & Wet and Wild are a pair of fun traditional style waterslides that you use a mat and travel feet first down, this makes the slide experience super smooth, whilst maintaining the speed and you take on lots of twists, turns and mini drops along the way; definitely ones for everyone (over 1m) to enjoy over and over. Lastly is one of the longer slides at 112m long, and adds a little more thrill compared to the other two feet first mat slides, Sidewinder certainly lives up to it’s name!

Overall, our visit to Splashdown Quaywest this May was a great visit. We were fortunately blessed with the weather which made our visit warmer than normal around this time of year. With that said, it wasn’t fully needed as with the heated warmer and the little waiting time to go down the slides, it kept us active and busy. With the new aqua player tower, we had great fun checking this out and we believe this is a great investment for them in 2024. It has already gone down well with the visitors who have explored the expansion and we are sure to see this become increasingly busier in the summer months later on in the year.

A huge thank you to Splashdown for working with us on our latest visit. They did provide us free entry in return for our content & review. Usually filming is not permitted for obvious reasons and all of our content do not show any other guest within the waterpark.
