Are you ready to survive Spooky World and its terrifying attractions? Spooky World is an established scare event which returns each October, promising scary mazes and a spooky atmosphere in its farm. Located in Warrington, at Apple Jacks Adventure Farm, you can find an evenings worth of Halloween entertainment to enjoy. With 7 haunting attractions to endure, a fairground, food & drink and roaming street entertainment, Spooky World has it covered.
You can find this event open between 6:30pm through to 11pm on selected nights in October 2024, with the last entry slot being 9pm. We recommend depending on your ticket type and the night you book, to turn up earlier rather than later to have plenty of time to complete all the attractions. They run from Friday 4th October up until the 3rd November, with a full list of dates available on their website.
Spooky World offer 3 variations of their event, with them hosting Spooky by day, which is a child friendly day offering of the adventure farm, including slides, archery and even a spooky trailer ride. Perfect for the 4-11 year olds. Spooky at Night is best for guests between 11-16, as they open for 6 evenings providing a more toned down version of the main event. Scary at Night is the main event which is for guests 16 and over, providing the full package and they won’t hold back.
Tickets vary for each event but the main Scary at Night starts from £21. Different packages are available, with your standard entry getting you 1x access to each maze, or fast track getting you 1x access to each maze through a seperate quicker queue.

Our First thoughts…
We managed to visit Spooky World as event number 6 in our Halloween schedule, with us visiting in previous years we were excited to get back and see how scary it could be this time round. We arrived around 8:30pm on a Saturday night and started our night having a little walk around the dark, spooky farm. We came across a small funfair which had waltzers, bumper cars and even a small coaster. We of course took a ride and whilst it looked like a kids ride, we launched from the station around the track and it started our night as a great surprise!
As we made our way around to complete the attractions, it was pretty quiet on our visit, with most of the visitors arriving early, it allowed the queues from around 9pm to be super small. Which was great, as it allowed us to do each maze in our own group and giving perfect value for money. Whilst Spooky World don’t have any glammed up signs, it is crystal clear to know which maze your doing with their bright yellow signs for each attraction.
We were really looking forward to the Field of Screams, as it would be our first and one of the few corn mazes we get to experience this year. Plus Carnevil is always a highlight with their chaotic clowns causing hell. We had a sausage barm and some hot drinks to keep us warm on a windy evening and we managed to be finished up just before close, which was perfect timing.

Below Deck – Scare Score: 62%

Below Deck is one of the newer mazes at Spooky World and it brings a more detailed story and more show scenes than any of their other attractions. You step inside a UV pirate underworld and meet some of the horrible crew, which have blood and a UV glow about them. The further inside you get, the more the attraction picks up and gets darker, scarier and more intense. We loved the show scenes and the stories given in each part of the attraction. Whilst the theming is quite minimalistic, the darkness and actors really make up for it and we had moments of jump scares and creepiness as we tried to find our way out.
The Institute- Scare Score: 62%

The Institute is their prison themed maze and for this year, it seems to of had some changes inside to keep the attraction fresh. Usually, you would enter into a strobe filled room which you could see all the way along, with a number of inmates causing carnage as you walk by. This year, there is no large open space and everything is designed in smaller areas, with more theming and moments of them being insidious & interactive. We loved the change as it gave us more scares as we went around the corners, with the cast really ramping up the fear with them screaming and doing acrobatics inside their cages. With it having a great team inside, it felt like the maze went on for such a long time but they kept us moving along quickly at the same time.
Evil Carnevil- Scare Score: 70%

Evil Carnevil is Spooky Worlds clown maze and whilst it is a classic clown maze, they always provide some of the most terrifying moments we have when we visit, each and every time. They have a tormenting pack of jokers hiding in the walls, with every character bringing something different to the scare floor. If you are looking for intensity, Evil Carnevil will bring this from start to finish, with us being surrounded by so many of them in the tight tunnels and cornered in the large spaces. We screamed & laughed all our way through and loved every second of it. For a maze that returns year upon year, it is always a highlight of Spooky World.
Field of Screams – Scare Score: 60%

The Field of Screams is the events corn field attraction, which sees you enter into pitch darkness and head deep into the fields. The inhabitants inside will keep you on a constant chase as you will want to move quickly through as a true nightmare gets created. What seems like a quiet walk, soon turns into one filled with screams, as you take a satanic trip through the fields and you can only hope to find the other end. With it being a windy night, this only ramped up our screams, as the corn rustled and kept us on edge as we kept scanning for the next scare. As it was so dark, they could easily hide in plain sight and you wouldn’t notice until the very last second. It was honestly horrifying.
Haunted Hayride Scare Score: 52%

The Haunted Hayride is your classic tractor ride into the darkness as you travel through different scenes, it certainly is damp and deranged. It does have some good moments and sections, but is let down by having little to no theming, except the odd spots where the characters interact with you. The reason why it is a damp attraction is because it is always known to get you pretty wet, which this year we are glad to say that is toned down. But we would say prepare yourself for water cannons, a jet wash and even a foam party whilst onboard. It is a fun attraction and is very different to everything else Spooky World has to offer, so if you’re up for something outside of the classic mazes, it’s well worth a ride.
Slaughterhouse- Scare Score: 78%

Slaughterhouse is one of the top attractions of the night and that is solely down to the hardworking pigs inside. This cast of unhinged actors really put in a shift, making you feel uncomfortable, getting super close and providing a top level of fear. We found ourselves in multiple parts of Slaughterhouse being pinned up against the wall, being snorted at and we felt every character just provided a level of interaction that other mazes struggle to provide. We liked the story of it being a slaughterhouse and the different characters from the pigs through to the incesterious hillbilly family inside. As our top rated maze of the night, it is one to really look forward to when you visit.
The Haunted House- Scare Score: 69%

The Haunted House is a dark and disturbing nightmare which you step into right from the start. With a classic theme, the name really does say it all as this haunted house has everything you would expect. From creepy dolls to even more spine-chilling inhabitants, they kept on coming and providing an eerie feeling as we walked into the darkness of each room. Another maze where the theming is quite minimal, it does have some spooky scenes, which the deafening tones of the piano really were very unnerving. As the maze we screamed most in during our night, the dolls do want to make you step quickly and get out of their way, as it is the quiet ones you want to be the most afraid of.
We had a great and scary time at Spooky World, as they provided what felt like a more solid and complete night than ever before. Everything has just stepped up to another level to contribute to an enjoyable night out. The chaotic cast have really upped their game also since our last visit and it just created a more intense time overall.
With them having 7 attractions and plenty of food & drink offer, it really does have enough to keep you occupied for the whole night.
