The Mind of Moriarty at Sherlock Live Experience Review

The Mind of Moriarty

The Sherlock Escape Room and immersive Experience in London is located in the heart of Shepherds Bush. Created by the writers of BBC’s Sherlock, this unique venue is home to one of the city’s most immersive experiences and is a must visit for fans of the hit TV show. The experience itself houses two unique immersive escape games, along with a bespoke cocktail experience named The Case of the Poisoned Chalice (click here to read our full review), a one of a kind Afternoon Tea and The Mind Palace, inviting participants to enter a Sherlock-themed speakeasy bar to be transported back to the Victorian era with a number of mini games available to play.

The first game is Sherlock: The Official Live Game. Recruits of The Network are required to complete a training mission that rapidly changes into a thrilling mystery. Lead by Mycroft Holmes, do you have what it takes to join the team as a secret agent by completing a training mission at the headquarters and solving puzzles along the way? Read our full review here.

The second is The Mind of Moriarty encouraging participants to conquer the mind of the devious criminal. Once the mission for the British Intelligence agency has been completed, it is not all as it seems as players work together to face a variety of challenges to overcome The Network and override the mind of Moriarty.

Tickets for these experiences are priced from £35 per person based on experience and the number of players. After previously visiting to play Sherlock: The Official Live Game and taking part in The Case of the Poisoned Chalice Cocktail Experience, the team invited us back to play The Mind of Moriarty. Below we take a look further into our experience.

Theming & Storyline – 8/10

The experience feels very authentic for the secretive world of Sherlock from the get go as you enter through Doyle’s Opticians located in a London shopping centre. The level of detail amongst all rooms entered were very well themed throughout the experience with a clever storyline and props linking back to the Sherlock TV series such as the prison cell and more. Fans of the show would definitely be well entertained but for those who have not seen the programme, there are plenty of descriptive elements to add context. The storyline itself is very gripping and includes the hot topic of AI as you work as a team to conquer and rewrite the devious mind of Moriarty.

Puzzles & Flow – 8/10

The escape room featured a number of rooms and a combination of traditional padlocks, mental puzzles and physical props as well as various unique features to help progress the storyline. Although there were some challenging moments, we worked together through this linear experience each utilising our key skills and using a number of helpful hints from the games master. We found the set of up of this experience is very unique and ensures players will see all puzzles on offer to try and complete the game. There are various linked puzzles in each room all varying in difficulty. Key puzzles that stood out for us were the laser maze and prison cell and we especially enjoyed the combined use of technology by texting on a phone and physical props in the room.

Uniqueness – 9/10

We managed to successfully complete the game and take over the mind of Moriarty with seconds to spare! The whole experience is extremely well produced and takes players on a journey from start to finish truly giving a sense of achievement as agent recruits. The speakeasy bar at the end of the challenge is a really nice touch to grab a drink, collect your thoughts and reflect on this experience like no other.

A huge thank you to the team for inviting us to play. They provided us with a complimentary experience and permission to take images throughout the game in return for our review, pictures and coverage (this does not influence our thoughts or opinions). If you are a Sherlock fan or looking for a one of a kind immersive experience, this is one not to miss.
