PAC-MAN has exploded into reality in Manchester, transforming the iconic arcade classic into a life-sized, glowing maze. Navigate the labyrinth, outsmart the ghosts, gobble power pellets, and compete for the ultimate high score against friends and family. Cutting-edge projection mapping and tracking technology bring every pellet and ghost to life, placing you directly into the heart of this high-octane adventure.
Launched in Manchester on March 21st, this brand-new experience invites everyone to step into the world of PAC-MAN. This ultimate team activity delivers unforgettable moments, uniting players in a way only the world’s most famous Chomper can. PAC-MAN Live is open daily, with evening sessions extending until 10 or 11 PM.
Ticket options cater to all preferences, with standard tickets from £26, VIP tickets from £33.50, and exclusive private maze hire available. Each maze accommodates up to eight players, so smaller groups may be combined unless a private booking is made. Family and group discounts are also offered.
You’ll find PAC-MAN Live in the former Chaos Karts location in Manchester city center, easily located via Google Maps.
Our First thoughts…
Upon entering, a friendly host verified our tickets and time slot. The venue’s pre- and post-experience area offered a relaxed atmosphere, featuring a bar, ambient music, photo ops, a small PAC-MAN shop, and restrooms. After a quick check-in and waiver completion (due to the physical nature of the activity), we received our team wristbands.
Shortly after, we were ushered into the game arena to begin our adventure. We registered our names on an iPad and donned the tracking vests, essential for the in-game movement. Then, we met our enthusiastic PAC-Master. These guides inject energy and personality into the experience, providing tips and encouragement throughout.
Following a lively rules briefing and introduction, we prepared to enter the maze. But first, we had to find the cleverly hidden coin to start the game!
Our Experience
Stepping into the arena, we were met with a virtual crowd, ready to witness our transformation into the ultimate Chomper. The mission was straightforward: chase, chomp, and conquer. Collect pellets and special items for points, evade ghosts and walls to avoid penalties, and summon your energy for the 30-minute challenge.
Each player began at a unique point in the maze, starting with a brief practice round. As the game progressed through multiple rounds, the speed and difficulty escalated, with ghosts becoming increasingly swift. What began as a leisurely walk to escape soon required a full-on sprint!
To keep the excitement high, bonus rounds injected variety into the gameplay. These included a PAC-MAN twist on Crossy Road, challenging us to navigate a straight line while dodging obstacles. Another variation restricted movement to side-to-side, proving deceptively difficult when fatigue set in.
The strategic use of special items offered everyone a chance to surge ahead. Despite one player’s initial lead, the competition intensified, transforming into a thrilling neck-and-neck race towards the finish.
PAC-MAN Live’s brilliance lies in its faithful recreation of the classic game, enhanced by cutting-edge immersive technology. Stepping into the game’s reality demonstrates the remarkable evolution of unique entertainment experiences, which we wholeheartedly applaud. The ever-present PAC-Masters amplify the excitement, providing real-time updates, strategic tips, and crucial encouragement throughout the session.
