Tulleys Farm is is well known for its famous Halloween event ShocktoberFest and so much more, but now their Christmas Lights Festival is also becoming a staple event. Billed as “The UK’s Number 1 Christmas Light Festival” we can certainly see why.
Returning for a second year from late November to Early January, this is a Christmas light trail with a difference. The event is a hub of activity, with festive entertainment, roaming characters, light displays of varying themes, market stalls and food & drink options. It’s Christmas, but also a festival of fun.
Standard tickets feature a time slot which is when you can enter the event, then you are able to stay as long as you wish, with the event typically closing around 10pm. VIP tickets can be purchased which also include access to the exclusive Apres Ski lounge. It is a free roam experience where you can choose what to do and in what order, so make sure you take a map to help ensure you have explored everything on offer. The event has free parking for all guests, and it is important to be aware that it uses a completely different area than ShocktoberFest, so ensure you follow the signs for the Christmas Light Festival. The event is family and dog friendly, so everyone can enjoy together.
New for 2025
The VIP Apres Club is an exclusive area tucked away to hang out and soak up even more vibes. The large tepee tent features a styled interior, seating, heaters, a bar and even a DJ. There are comfy sofas for lounging out whilst enjoying a drink from the bar, or hit the mini dancefloor in front the DJ booth to dance the night away. Whilst quiet during our visit, we did spot the skis cut out with holes for shot glasses that looks perfect for groups, and expect it can build quite the atmosphere.
Gingerbread Windmill takes centre stage, floating on large pond surrounded by trees and lights. The windmill spins and what’s more spectacular is the perfectly aligned projection mapping that wraps around the whole tower and windmill to show a little story. It is a visual spectacle we’ve not seen in that style before and is not to be missed.
Light Trails & Shows
There are many light trail sections, some with long winding pathways, and others with interactive scenes. The Enchanted Forest, takes you deep into the woods to come face to face with magical pixies in floating in the trees, a mass of glowing butterflies and more magical sightings. Love Lane is the perfect spot for couples with a romantic soundtrack and so many cute photo opportunities. Let’s Dance features a huge disco ball hanging from the trees with catchy songs to have a little boogie under the flashing lights. Let It Snow has some fun photo opportunities including the Narnia style cupboard, and light up wings with some low down for dogs to pose with; and of course there’s snow!
Dotted around the trail are many shows which have lights and special effects synchronised to music for a magical spectacle. The Fire & Ice show is a battle of fire and icy water as they go off in time to high energy soundtrack. The Spirit of Christmas Show is centered around a magical star with lasers covering the surface of the lake, and spotlights shining into the sky. Twilight Reflection has pulsating lights and mini fountains timed perfectly to music. Merry Magic brings the festive cheer with lots of spiral light up Christmas trees dancing in time to a classic tune.
Entertainment and Food & Drink
There’s more than just lighting displays to entertain guests whilst at the festival. With two live music stages and plenty of seating, there is opportunities to relax and soak up the atmosphere, before, after or even in the middle of the experience should you plan your route accordingly. You’ll find festive street theatre roaming around the whole event to bring an extra bit of magic to your night. The observation wheel is an upcharge experience but is not to be missed giving unbelievable views over the top of the event with a mass of lights pulsating across the woods below.
There are plenty of options to purchase delicious food and drinks. The main hub area as you enter features several food stalls from Yorkshire pudding wraps, to pasta, burgers and more. There’s also bars with a variety of hot, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks which can be taken around with you or enjoyed sat down in one of the many undercover areas soaking up the atmosphere. There’s several stands where you can purchase a giant marshmallow on a stick to toast. Food and drink options can also be found in the Alpine Village located at the back end of the light trail, with cosy huts and fires to enjoy a hot drink (with boozy options) or a pizza. There’s even a Christmas market as you leave, with lots of handmade, and Tulleys branded goodies, perfect to purchase as a treat or a gift.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our experience, and can see how it’s perfect for date nights, groups of friends and of course families. The laser show did seem to have disappeared this year from the lineup which was a shame, but moving the North Star to the central like light show, and the addition of the projection ginger bread windmill was cool to see. There are light displays, audio and effects across the whole experience with some songs very fitting to the theme of the area. We particularly liked how the light trail is not a set route with one time entry, you are free to take on different sections and make your own route, or even repeat parts. This way you can enjoy the food, drink and entertainment options to really make a full night out of it.
A huge thanks to Ed Hopkins PR for inviting us along to experience the event. We received free entry to the light festival, plus VIP lounge and Big Wheel access; this was in return for our content and feedback. All opinions are our own, and facts are that of the event.
