Brought to you by the team behind Alcotraz & Moonshine Saloon, Avora is a brand-new immersive cocktail experience which is a first of its kind. This new world cocktail experience is where guests can go on adventure into the brand new world of Avora, meet the locals and even try some of their special concoctions along the way.
Incentive Productions have presented this new experience which launched in London towards the end of 2022. Close by to Alcotraz, which is a prison themed cocktail experience where you have to smuggle your alcohol in and not get caught by the guards along the way. Avora is located near central London with the closest overground stop being Hoxton. We found the journey simple enough to get to, with many bus routes and frequent overground trains taking you a moments’ walk away from the venue. The venue is super easy to spot from its funky exterior which gets you excited for a new world which is hidden within its walls.
Tickets start from £42 per person and within you are given 3 cocktails along your 1 hour, 45 minute journey. They are open Tuesday through to Sunday with different timeslots available to choose from. It is best to check directly for the most updated opening times and prices.
The experience is set in 3 rooms and whilst we couldn’t take any photos or videos of the actors, we could still capture the room and cocktails to share a snippet of what you can expect in the magical world of Avora!
Roscorp Laboratories
Our first stop on our journey to Avora was to the Roscorp Lab, which we were met by the Dr who would be explaining a little more about Avora and our mission today. Before that, we had to be kitted out into our Avora jumpsuits. These were simple enough to put on, cosy and made everyone look the part in a simple way. From here we were separated into groups and seated on one of the tables. 6 people could sit per table, so if you are in groups less or more than this, expect to share or be split.
The Dr came over and explained about a substance that belongs to the Avora world known as Luminol. This liquid was key to be able to survive in Avora and it had special healing powers to it. We were allowed to try a small dose of it in the lab, which would be used in our first cocktail which we had to make. This was easy to make with the instructions given by the Dr, but also written on a guide in case you forgot. The drink could be made either bitter or sweet and it was a delicious first cocktail which the whole group enjoyed.
After a short period of being able to make and enjoy our first drink, more was explained to us by the Dr and assistant about the world of Avora and about our tour today. From here, group by group we prepared to enter the newly discovered gateway into the new world.
The Avora Woodlands
After entering through the gateway, you step into the wonderful woodlands areas and are greeted by the Avorians. These are the locals of the Avora world, and they are more than happy to introduce themselves but, only in the correct manner so be careful. After offering you a symbol of their trust to you, as well as some more Luminol in form of another cocktail, you can take your seat and soak in this new world.
You get a few opportunities to interact and communicate with the local Avorians, as they come over and engage in some unique discussions which are completely different to your group. They were funny, and we had such a fun time speaking with them and understanding the new world of Avora.
Our second cocktail also had options like our first, with a fresh option being available alongside a bitter version, depending on your tastes. We all enjoyed the cocktails we selected as much as the first. With it having more of a floral theme this second drink, which suited the woodland environment we were now in.
There was other elements to this forest and other secrets to be seen, however, you’ll have to visit yourself to know what these are. Before long, we were trusted to proceed forward with the Avorians to venture deeper into their world.
Night Time in Avora
As day turns into night, we get to witness the true beauty of Avora. The bioluminescent landscape really is eye capturing and is a nice setting to have your final cocktail with the locals. They treat you the strongest dose of the Luminol yet. Whilst dazzled by our surroundings, the story took a dramatic turn and contained some tense moments outside of all the laughs everybody was having. After getting some time to finish our cocktail, which was superb, everything took a dark turn to conclude the story… Or did it?
We were then ushered back into our world, and it was time to leave Avora and the Avorians. Safely back in the Lab, we were able to delve back into what we learned and catch a moments breathe from the danger we were in.
Our adventure came to an end, and it was time for us to leave. Our mission was complete, and we had an amazing journey across several different settings, trying out some spectacular cocktails and meeting some great characters too.
There was so much more than what we have mentioned to explore in your time at Avora, however, the above is a snippet of what you may experience during your time in this new world.
Our time at Avora was enjoyed very much so and we found so many great elements throughout our journey from the start to the end. Being a first of its kind, it is always exciting to see the world of immersive entertainment expand, develop and get stronger. London is home to some of the best and biggest immersive experiences and Avora is stamping its mark with its unique magical wonderland.
Austyn said “Avora is a fantastic experience which everything that happens within is done with great detail. The theming, story and cocktails all combine to create a memorable adventure from the moment it starts. The cast have done a great job to blur the reality of the real world to the world of Avora and make this one step better than a typical cocktail experience. There were many moments where you do really get lost within this fake world. It was over so quickly but with it being just shy of a 2-hour experience, it was an ideal length to be enjoyed and not drag on too long to lose interest.”
Dean said “The ‘luminom’ is more than just a ‘drug’ to allow your body to function in the world of Avora… it’s also delicious! I really enjoyed the experience being transported away and meeting the charismatic inhabitants of the land.”
Overall, Avora should be on your visit list for when your next in London! Tickets are best purchased directly through the official website and tickets can usually be purchased for the next 1-2 months ahead.
