Tripsdrill & Wildlife Park 2024 Review

Tripsdrill

Where better to visit in the summer than Tripsdrill & Wildlife Park! A family fun theme park and wildlife park which is located in Germany countryside. Found in southern Germany in a place known as Cleebronn, but easier reference points would be north of Stuttgart. Tripsdrill has a mighty title which is that its the oldest amusement park operating in Germany, that is still managed by the original family which started it! Whilst it started out all the way back in 1929, it has expanded a long way in its history, now home to many thrilling rollercoasters, an impressive zoo and much more.

For those who have never heard of Tripsdrill, it is a popular place with it having a range of rides which is perfect for all of the family. It has an impressive coaster lineup, some classic family attractions, a zoo which you get free entry with your day ticket and even a winery inside the park! What more could you ask for?

Our last visit in 2020 was a significant one, as the park opened 2 new rollercoasters which provided many family thrills. You can read more on our thoughts from our visit 4 years ago by clicking here!

Now some time has passed, we have returned to see what is new and take our first visit to the wildlife park which we’ve never had time to visit before.

Starting with the main reason you visit a theme park, the headline attractions, the rollercoasters. Tripsdrill is now home to 6 of them, all sitting in that perfect family thrill market that they target for. The latest two were opened at the same time back in 2020 called Hals-über-Kopf & Volldampf. Volldampf is a family boomerang coaster with a fun steam train theme whilst Hals-über-Kopf is a suspended coaster with inversions for extra thrills. Both of these rides have really stood out in the park and have proven very popular with guests.

A classic in the park is Mammut which is the parks wooden coaster. This opened back in 2008 and has been a fan favourite for many since. The ride has a fun layout with many airtime moments of dips and hills with twists & turns along the way. We really love the little introduction just after you leave the station, themed to saw mill which has gone wrong!

Karacho can be found closeby and is the parks launch coaster. It starts indoors before throwing you outside in its crazy layout. G’sengte Sau is a old classic for the park as it opened back in 1998 and still provides the same thrills today. This is a perfect ride fun for all the family and is a lot more tame compared to the likes of Karacho & Mammut. The last coaster to mention is Rasender Tausendfüßler, which is a small kids coaster.

Just from these rides alone, you can see the park has it covered from entry level kids coasters, through to fun family thrills and with the likes of Karacho & Hals-über-Kopf providing the top level thrills.

Outside the coasters, Tripsdrill has a whole another world of other rides and attractions to keep you busy. If you’ve never been to a park like this before, you will absolutely love it as its quite different to parks in the UK. The latest ride for 2024 was Wilde Gautsche, a gigantic swing which rocks you back and forth with a 19th century theme to it (coming soon). Surprisingly, this was genuinely terrifying, the rocking motion it provided was more than we were expecting and caught us off guard!

To just a name of few of the quirky attractions you can find here, you have Doppelter Donnerbalken, a small drop tower which not only drops you up and down, it also tilts forward! You have to ride it to understand it but it always freaks us out. Altmännermühle is described as a fitness course but its more like a fun house, which goes outside. Wackelräder, which translates to Wobbly Wheels, is where you get on a bike but they are designed differently. Surprisingly, you can visit a winery in the park and taste test some of them for a small upcharge! We don’t know another park who offers all of this and more.

The park is also home to a number of water rides, from a classic log flume that has a queueline of old machines, a rapids boat ride and new for 2023, over 1000 water fountains which provide entertainment in many different ways.

For the very time for us, we took time out of our day to visit the Wildlife park. Whilst a separate park, you can get to it from Tripsdrill’s main park via land train. You buy a cheap ticket from the main shop by the entrance and it runs pretty frequently just outside to the main entrance. Your entry is included with a ticket to the park so its great value for money.

This is one large wildlife paradise, with so many animals and natural surroundings. With over 60 mostly native animals and 47 hectares of land, you can see this park alone can take up a days visit. We managed to get a great snapshot over a few hours, allowing us to watch a few talks (whilst not understanding them, it’s a great opportunity to see the animals a little closer). A great example of that is the birds of prey show, where we had an eagle come right in front of us!

Another highlight has to be the deer park, as this area is so huge and not gated off, so you are literally walking with all the deer. Whilst most are hesitant and shy, if you provide some food and are very gentle, you soon will have a crowd. We also had a super close encounter with a brown bear, met many other farm like animals and caught a glimpse of the many types of wolves.

The landscape the wildlife park is set in is just incredible also, walking up mountain-esque landscapes and the views you get are just breathtaking. A worthwhile trip alone for just the views.

We really enjoyed our latest visit to Tripsdrill as it is such a complete park. To have the newer coasters in the park in the last 5 years have really helped with the thrill factor, but outside of that, the smaller additions they add keep the park fun and quirky. Their latest flat ride really does surprise you and we still had such a fun day checking out some of our favourite attractions here. We managed to take a quick look into the winery museum and getting our first visit into the wildlife park was so worthwhile. To have that next door to Tripsdrill theme park, is incredible and we can only urge you to take a look for yourself when you next visit.

A huge thank you to the team at Tripsdrill for inviting us along this summer and providing us 2 free tickets in return for our content.

Tripsdrill have such a great calendar of events throughout the year so keep an eye out on their socials to know when they are on and if your looking to visit the wildlife park, its practically open everyday, so there is no excuse to not visit!

@thrillnation a brilliant wildlife park where you can get up close to many different animals! #tripsdrill #wildlife #park #animals #zoo #germany #deutschland #wildparadies ♬ Adventure - André Branney
