FEAR Island Review ()

INTRODUCTION

Fear Island is back for 2026! Found at Fantasy Island in Ingoldmells, near Skegness, it is home to 4 scare mazes, with the park’s rides, live entertainment and food and drink to keep you entertained around them too.

The event is running on selected dates from 17th October to 1st November 2026, and with 4 mazes to get through plus everything else going on around the park, you will want to plan your night to make sure you fit it all in.

New for 2026 is Heartless, joining returning mazes SNAP, The Ravenous and Psycho Mansion. With all 4 mazes offering something different, there is plenty of variety across the lineup for this year.

On standard Fear Island dates, the mazes are open from 12pm to 6pm with the rides open from 11am to 6pm. On Saturday 24th and Saturday 31st October, the mazes stay open late from 4pm to 10pm, with fireworks on both nights and a Halloween Party at Captain Jack’s on the 31st.

There are a few ticket options to pick from. If you just want the mazes, the Scream Pass is £24.75 online or £27.50 on the day, with a Locals Scream Pass at £15 for PE24 and PE25 postcodes. If you want the rides included, wristbands start from £35.55 online for the Adventurer wristband, or £42.75 for the Discovery wristband, with 2 day options available too.

THE OVERALL EVENT…

WOO – Value for money | Boo – Operations | Woo – Variety & Quality

We’ve been visiting the Halloween event at Fantasy Island for a very long time and it’s always exciting to see what the team have created each season. After winning our award for Best Maze Cast for SNAP, the 2025 new maze, and the launch of another new maze for 2026, we were expecting big things. We were invited to the press preview event, which happened just before opening day to be some of the first to experience this year’s attractions.

The evening allowed us to explore the Fear Island hub which they launched last year, which has several stage shows, themed Halloween food and desserts, a bar and plenty of roaming characters. Whilst Fantasy Island does have some extra Halloween entertainment outside of this zone, this keeps most of the scary stuff in one area for those interested and brave enough to enter. We also explored the following day on some of the other offerings, such as the mystic mountain show and pirate show inside the pyramid.

The variety and quality of the whole event is actually amazing. Each maze is very different to the next, from a not so friendly hillbilly family, the clowns in SNAP, the haunting inhabitants in Psycho Mansion and the mystery inside Heartless. Every attraction has a lot of detail inside but not only that, the whole event is jam packed with plenty of things to do. It is worth noting that operations is something Fear Island have struggled with as they continue to grow and become more popular. Each maze can only have one group in at a time and as it is in small groups, a small queue can last a fair while. We know that the event is on a budget but we hope that they can expand this offering to shorten queue times and offer a better operational option during peak times next year. The whole event is priced greatly with different options. You can just buy a scream pass online for £24.75 that provides 5 tokens to use on any of the 4 fear island mazes however, pair it up with the fantasy island rides and attractions, it can be as little as £35.55 per person. Outside of that, the entertainment in the Fear Island and pyramid is free, so those who don’t wish to take part in the scariness can still enjoy the entertainment offerings.

Heartless – new for 2026

WOO – Concept | WOO – Theming | BOO –  Screams

Starting with the brand new maze, Heartless promises to twist the reality you know as you step into a twisted nightmare which seems familiar however, those clever enough to find the secret are sworn to keep it. That said, the theming inside has been carefully thought about, as they have created every room in heavy detail, starting from stepping into the Baum Cinema to watch the latest film. As you step through the screen, you get taken across many different sets, from a bloody brick road, a garage and more. Every scene was beautifully done, from the floor to the ceiling, which creates the immersion level you expect in 2026. With such a strong attraction it is hard to pinpoint the weaker aspects but screams is where it does not deliver to the maximum in our opinion. Heartless has a brilliant concept, with it being unique and having a secret element to it also that not everybody will understand and get but, this not taking away from enjoying the maze for what it is, a terrifying scare maze in Skegness

SNAP – Award Winning

WOO – Storytelling | WOO – actor performance | BOO – Lighting & SFX

SNAP returns for its second season and it’s exciting to know they have made plenty of changes inside. One thing that hasn’t is the fantastic and award winning cast inside, with many of the team returning once again to create another year of fear inside. They have the energy and terror that you need in a clown cast, moving around all the different rooms as you step through the carnival set and although it’s the same actors throughout, they are ready for you in each section which is amazing for a small team. Again, for a strong maze, the lighting and SFX are the most limited feature here. We would love to see more special effects used throughout to help create additional scares or more fun elements you expect in a clown haunt. SNAP has a fantastic intro story which then sets the scene as you take on the maze element. It’s a short and simple story but works here, with the clown killing the ringleader in his performance before you then have to try and escape before he kills you. Overall, with the slight extension, it’s another strong year for cirque Snap!

The Ravenous

WOO – Screams | WOO – actor performance | BOO – Lighting & SFX

The award winning maze returns once more, with Cleetus and his family letting you step into his family home and become part of the family festivities however, he hasn’t learnt to let you go still… The Ravenous works due to its phenomenal cast, as a returning cast, guests who have visited year upon year can remember them. Such as Cleetus, who is known for eating real dog food in the queue before chasing you down in the maze. This year they continue to be friendly yet genuinely terrifying, which is a great blend for a hillbilly themed maze. Whilst we did see some special effects inside, along with dim lights, it was just the weakest element once again when compared to everything else. The scares were on another level here, with them getting the jump scares and the eerie scares, as they can get very close and intimate in here. They are prepared to do whatever it takes to get you to scream, so be prepared when you step inside their shack this Halloween.

Psycho Mansion

WOO – Storytelling | WOO – concept | BOO – Screams

Psycho Mansion is also a returning haunt but more for the younger audience. Whilst it may be for families, it does still have a very haunting overlay to it, with plenty of spooky ghosts living inside. It starts with a new fantastic story with a new route, so you now go backwards around the mansion. We think this is a great new way to start the story in a new way, with some special effects and adapted story. As a more child friendly maze, the scares are always going to be a little less and therefore, is the weakest out of the 4 mazes. Don’t get us wrong, there are still some spooks along your path, just not as intense. We like this concept of having a family maze and it being hosted in a fun house / scare house travelling attraction. It looks like a funfair attraction but with the Fear Island enhancements to it.

As you can see, Fear Island has another incredible Halloween season upon them. With plenty of changes since 2025, many standout mazes and all at an incredible value, you would be silly to miss this event in your scare calendars. We really have enjoyed seeing the event grow to this stage where it really is so much fun. With the rides of Fantasy Island and the scares of Fear Island, it really does make it a must do during October.

A huge thank you to the Fear Island team for inviting us up to explore and be one of the first to see what they have created. We were fortunate enough to be the first to go into Heartless on the press preview and on opening day, so it was an honour. They did provide us with complimentary entry to the event along with some other goodies in return for our content and honest feedback of the event.

Fear Island is only on selected dates this Halloween with 2 late night openings to get to see the area in the true darkness, like we got to which is insane to see them offer for 2026. To see more, check out our TikTok and you can see a little more.
