The event is running on selected dates from 2nd October to 1st November 2026, and with 7 mazes to get through, including some of the longest mazes in the UK, you will want to plan your night to make sure you fit it all in.
There are no brand new mazes for us this time, but Ash Hell Penitentiary returns with a brand new overlay, joining Pie Factory, The Village, Spores, Witches of Hard Luck Wood, Blutlust and Circus Vs Circursed.

THE OVERALL EVENT…
WOO – side shows | WOO – Roaming Characters | BOO – operations
After a really successful visit last Halloween, we were excited to get back to Xtreme Scream Park for 2026. Whilst there weren’t any new mazes for us this time, the new overlay to Ash Hell Penitentiary sounded exciting. We visited on a sold out Saturday, so we expected big queues and operational challenges on our visit, but we were still interested to see how a sold out, experienced scream park manages as events gain more popularity.
Driving in, there was a queue on the roundabout outside showing how busy it was however, they managed the car parking well and it was very organised. After a quick bag check, your tickets are scanned and you can make your way into the event and head to the main event hubs area. On your way, this is where we had some of our first interactions with the roaming characters. We first saw drunk Santa, who told us to stop playing with ourselves as we had our hands in our pockets due to the cold weather. Throughout the night he was making funny, sarcastic comments with every group and is a standout, unique character. As the night developed, it seemed we just kept seeing more and more roaming characters, every corner another couple would appear. From stilt walkers, tooth fairies, clowns, mimes and everything in between. The cast was enormous!
As expected, operations was going to be a challenge. On one side, they are attempting to keep everybody moving swiftly, but for that to happen, group sizes for the mazes were large and about every 30 seconds, meaning congas and queues in the mazes themselves were highly likely. They have tried to keep queues down by providing a lot of entertainment and side shows, such as a Lucifer’s Lair spin the wheel feature, axe throwing, more rides than ever before and plenty of photo opportunities. We loved how many side show elements they had and felt it was a perfect blend to keep you enjoying the event.
Ash Hell Penitentiary & institute
WOO – Storytelling
With the new overlay and story, rehabilitation or execution, we see a massive change in the story. It’s noticeable as soon as you step inside, with the first few scenes subtly warning you of what’s to come. As soon as you go through, you go through scenes of what rehabilitation and execution would mean for you and in the story, what option you would pick. It’s a very clever overlay to the prison theme, adding the institute and correction facility element but just a little more unique.
BOO – actor utilisation
Whilst we have noted this as the weakest element of Ash Hell, it is worth noting that they have utilised their actors really well in here. There are many actors during our time through the institute, however it just felt a little short compared to all our other categories.
WOO – lighting & SFX
Honestly, we’ve never seen more effects in a maze of this length than in here. They just had so many to keep you interested and guessing what was going to happen next. The lighting started dark and dingy like a prison, before lighting up in the institute section but flicking between them both when required. Overall, a fantastic element to this maze.
Blutlust
WOO – Costume & Makeup
Blutlust just has great characters that make the costume and makeup fantastic to see. With the theme being vampires and based in Germany, they can really go for the scary side of the vampire theme. With leather jackets and clear vampiric features on their face, it’s clear and very effective.
BOO – Actor utilisation
Just due to the large and lengthy maze, it’s hard for them to utilise the actors once again here. It just seems they need a cast double, if not triple the size to make it effective. Some of the scenes are quite tight and narrow, meaning actors can only move around so much.
WOO – Concept
This concept is really enjoyed. Vampires, Germany, party atmosphere, it just works. Adding the splitting element and also the rare chance of doing the maze multiple times, adds a uniqueness to it too.
Circus vs CIrcursed
WOO – Enjoyment
We really enjoyed Circus Vs Circursed. We feel this is the best run through we might have had, with everything just working for it. From start to finish, we were wowed, surprised and just enjoyed it, with all the elements coming together quite nicely and fitting for a clown theme. A mix of indoors and outdoors being used, special effects, scares and even split from some disorienting scenes inside.
BOO – Storytelling
Outside of the fantastic first room and scene, the story does unfortunately get lost within itself. The introduction does really set the story up for more and we think with some amendments, it could regain its story focus.
WOO – Actor performance
The clowns have done really well to keep the energy and chaos as they need to. They mocked you, interacted with you and all had their own unique differences. They got more intense the further in you got and covered high and low scares, all whilst keeping the fun element too.
The Pie Factory
WOO – Theming
The Pie Factory is a staple attraction at Xtreme Scream and the theming in here had to be noted. They have so many different set scenes, with most of the attraction being very immersive with the sets. From entering the kitchens to the slaughterhouse, each area didn’t lack props, wall designs and just everything required to blend it all in.
BOO – Actor utilisation
The weakest feature of Pie Factory seems to be how the actors are used and where they cover. With it being a lot of space for cover, it seemed some actors were more stationed in one spot or area, instead of roaming around and covering multiple spots, meaning sometimes you go slightly longer with scares or actors interacting.
WOO – Lighting & SFX
The lighting inside Pie Factory blends from bright scenes to dark, dimly lit areas depending on what they are wanting you to see. There is plenty of special effects used in here, from a load of animatronics, air blasts, barrel drops and so much more. Every effect has been thought about and it just feels like they keep adding more and more each season.
Spores
WOO – Theming
As a brand new maze for last year, the theming is still as good as its launch year. The attraction really has gone all in with its different areas and scenes, making sure everything is immersive and high detail in quality and experience. We particularly love the catacombs section at the end which is a real maze that you can get lost in.
BOO – Actor utilisation
The actors here haven’t been the best utilised, with some being stuck on set scenes, such as the introduction using two members. There is a handful that do move around but they are covering such large spaces, it seems that it’s one extreme to the next, which we think can be mastered a little better to the standard they are normally at.
WOO – Lighting & SFX
Spores has plenty of special effects to cover, many of them unique or not really seen at other locations in the UK. From boarding a bus that rocks, to a falling pathway, this is only in addition to lasers, chainsaws and air blasts, keeping you on your toes all the way through. The lighting helps add to the theming and other elements of this maze and it really takes it to another level as a new generation maze.
The Village
WOO – Theming
Another iconic attraction here and The Village has so much theming in it. Every year it feels like more animatronics and props get added, making it better than the last addition. It has so many different scenes and sets here, recreating a whole village. From a village house, then a school and even a lab, each being done up to be fully immersive and all large sets.
BOO – Enjoyment
The actors here haven’t been the best utilised, with some being stuck on set scenes, such as the introduction using two members. There is a handful that do move around but they are covering such large spaces, it seems that it’s one extreme to the next, which we think can be mastered a little better to the standard they are normally at.
WOO – Lighting & SFX
As a large space to cover, they need some special effects to help fill the voids without actors and anything else that might happen. The use of animatronics is utilised well, with them being placed all the way through. They are absolutely huge and we definitely got to see some new ones or ones that haven’t worked for us before. They also had tunnels, lasers, smoke, self moving furniture and that’s just for starters.
The Witches of hard luck wood
WOO – Actor Performance
The witches have done an outstanding job for this year. It seems they had a new lease of life, being evil, wicked and providing a mix of story and scares throughout.
BOO – Audio
The audio was the weakest feature here, with it just not being as noticeable or as memorable as the other mazes Xtreme have.
WOO – Lighting & SFX
The first half of this maze uses the darkness to its advantage, so a glowstick is provided to be used as lighting and as an effect. There are airbags, leg ticklers, squishy flooring, UV and actors on a rail above you. There are too many effects to mention but they’ve done well to include as many as they could here.
For a sold out Saturday, we actually really enjoyed our visit to Xtreme Scream Park. There have been so many changes to the event to make it the biggest and best year yet. From the outstanding Blutlust, to the improved Witches, to the incredible new overlay of Ash Hell. This, with the new entertainment hub and all of the shows, roaming characters, side shows and everything else, has just come together to be a super popular and well polished event. With some of the longest mazes in the UK industry, we think Xtreme Scream Park have really managed to create an absolute monster for 2026.
A huge thank you to the team for inviting us to experience the event this year. They did provide us with 4 VIP tickets to the event in return for our honest feedback and content.
The event is starting to sell out, especially on peak nights so you’ll have to book sooner rather than later if you wish to visit this season!
