The Toutatis Festival Area

The Festival of Toutatis is the name of the new area which has been created by the park, and perfectly fits into the ‘Gaul’ world the comics & park is themed upon. Based around Toutatis who is an ancient god, the area feels authentic stepping back in time with rockwork, lanterns and a big statue of the god. There is some landscaping and greenery, though due to the newness of the area this will take time to grow over the coming months and years. Supporting the ride lineup there is a children’s play area, restaurant and shop, creating an area for the whole family to be together within.

La Trace Du Hourra is a Mack Rides bobsled rollercoaster that opened at the park back in 2001. The unique coaster type sees you make your way down a winding path where the coaster train runs freely along the bobsled style track. The coaster stands at over 30 meters high and is one of the longer coasters of this type, providing a fun sensation; going up the lift hill also gives great views of Toutatis and the new area. For 2023 the rollercoaster has been incorporated into the Festival of Toutatis, though minimal changes have been made.

Chez Gyroflix is a ‘NebulaZ’ attraction manufactured by Zamperla, these ride types have been popping up in many parks, and we can see why with a low height restriction of just 100cm (when accompanied by an adult, and 120cm unaccompanied). It is a fun experience popular with all; it’s also a spectacle to watch off ride too with the four rotating arms perfectly moving in sync with each other.

Toutatis – The brand new coaster

Toutatis was first announced back in 2018, and the layout was very forward thinking for its time. The coaster did suffer some delays in the initial planning & construction and was pushed back from 2021 to 2023. What is impressive is that the ride layout and experience is still at the top of the game and not impacted by advances in design over time. It is a newer generation Intamin LSM multi-launch rollercoaster and has become France’s tallest and fastest coaster. Riders must be at least 130cm to experience the attraction. It has a physical track length of 1075m however due to the clever use of the track system, you travel 1361m. The ride has a max speed of 66.5mph, the highest point is 51m, it includes 3 inversions during its layout and boasts of 23 airtime points.

Once inside the coaster station area there is an option to split into 3 queues, front row, rows 2-5 and rows 6-10. The station is very well themed with a rockwork cave that features a lighting packaging with pulsating lights that run across and around the station when the rollercoaster is being dispatched. This even extends onto the coaster launch sections which will look even more effective at night.

Whilst Toutatis is incredibly popular, thanks to its high throughput and quick operations, it tends not to have the longest queue in the park. For when it is busy, there are options to help reduce your queue time. You can use the single rider queue which means you will be split from your group to fill gaps, generally this will give a much shorter waiting time; however, due to its popularity they may temporarily close the single rider queue at certain times. There is also the queue skip option called Filotomatix, Toutatis is only included on the top level version of this service, you can also purchase one shots of the coaster (subject to availability) for €10 using the app.
