Are you game for an exciting hunt in London? Then StreetHunt Games is what you are looking for and is a perfect activity to explore the capital. StreetHunt Games is an outdoor escape room company which focus their experiences in London and York. The experiences merge between scavenger hunt, escape room and murder mystery, with a mobile game on the streets which contain plenty of puzzles, adventure & story.
StreetHunt Games have currently two adventures in London, one being The Case of Colombia’s Finest and the other called Will Breaker. Both games follow the same idea of where you use your mobile phone to follow a set path to solve puzzles out in the streets of either London & York. The idea of the games is to create entertainment & escapism with a self-guided mission which can be played any day and time.
All the experiences will require you to work from an interactive map, solve cryptic puzzles and use your sense of adventure to complete the challenge. Both current games out follow the same main character at different times, meaning there is an interlinking story for returning customers but, it is not critical to play them in any set order or to play both.
What makes StreetHunt Games unique is that each hunt has a scoring system, which is based on a multitude of factors. This is from how quick you enter answers, how many locations you end up visiting and if you use any hints or skips. The experience takes this all into consideration before providing you at the end of your hunt either a gold, silver or bronze medal. Another neat feature is you can send them a team picture and get a free picture upgrade with their unique style & overlay.
Both experiences cost £16.50 per person and it is recommended for each player to pay so they can have access to it on their phone. All players are linked on the same booking and can then be involved in solving the puzzles and navigating around the route. Each game is set in a different part of London and has a different difficulty rating.

Will Breaker is set in Holborn and can be found easily when in Central London. The easiest way to getting to the start location to start your experience, you can either get the Central or Piccadilly line to Holborn and the starting street is a few minute walk. All instructions prior to starting are sent to your emails, which provides a bit more about the story, a link to where the game is and everything you need to know on the day. As this is a self guided experience, they have tried to make it as simple as possible in terms of setup and starting your experience.
The main things to note before starting is to have a comfortable pair of shoes (which you should have anyway when travelling around London), enough battery on your phone and be prepared whatever the weather! A good note is the experience can be paused and there is a halfway break for those who want it, meaning if you wish for a half way drink, food or toilet stop, it is all possible and factored in! They even provide tips and top locations.
So to our actual experience, which had us travelling to multiple locations around and speaking to lots of virtual people on our way. Why? Well our main characters story had some inheritance money left and we wanted to claim it but, its never that simple. Learning about your mystery grandfather who seems to be a spy, you speak to fellow coworkers and contacts through the in game story to head to new locations. At each location, you had a puzzle to solve, which was in form of a virtual cryptex.
We loved the three steps to this hunt, which was first map reading and heading to the location, which whilst simple enough, if you struggle with reading maps then it isn’t so straight forward. Then at the location, you had to use your surroundings to solve a puzzle so that they knew you were actually there. This was then followed by a further puzzle to solve the cryptex which gave you a clue to the final code required.
We would say the puzzles and travelling around were on the easier side, with it requiring good eyesight and a good attention to detail. None of the puzzles we solved were too difficult which, we actually preferred as it gave you a sense of achievement and meant you weren’t all standing around, getting bored because it was too difficult. We got to see some great parts of London which we haven’t seen before, which StreetHunt Games do very well at when setting the route for these hunts. Even as people that travel around London often, we always come across areas or streets with secrets in.
Our guest player Ben who has played his fair share of escape rooms had the following to say about Will Breaker; “StreetHunt Games offered us a fun and informative hour exploring Holborn and solving puzzles. The challenges were a nice level of difficulty without being too hard and the route was really picturesque and took us to places we have never seen before. I would highly recommend this experience for anyone looking to explore lesser known parts of London. For those looking for very challenging puzzles this may not be the option for you but for friends or family looking for a fun afternoon out, this is ideal.”
Ultimately, we had the best sunny adventure during our trip to London and it was made even better when we scored the top rating, Gold! This meant we solved the puzzles quickly and without many hints. We believe this very achievable for all sized groups with some experience of solving puzzle problems. Although, don’t stress if you have never done something like this before, as this game is a great starter to this cryptic world, so we would more so recommend this to beginners and those who want an easier experience.
