A ground-breaking immersive theatrical adventure which can only be experienced in London!
Doctor Who Time Fracture is one of the latest additions to come to London. Pushing the boundaries of what is known as immersive theatre, Doctor Who Time Fracture invites you to step into the world of Doctor Who and become a part of the experience.
Located in an old traders building in Mayfair, you will be immersed into a whole other world (or worlds) for over 2 hours. Filled with everything you know and love from Doctor Who, you will join the Doctor (or Doctors) in the latest mission in which the world needs your help!
Prices are from £29.95 which is depending on the times and dates you book your performance. Running multiple shows every Wednesday through to Sunday, you have plenty of opportunity to get involved with the latest mission, Time Fracture!
Doctor Who Time Fracture follows this story…
“The Doctor needs you! The Universe as we know it is at stake – now is the time to step up and be the hero. For decades, in a quiet corner of Mayfair, London, a dangerous rift in time and space has been monitored by a group of loyal members of the long-thought-disbanded Unified Intelligence Taskforce – or UNIT for short. Until now they have managed to protect the people of Earth from the threat the rift poses but, weakened and beaten back as the Time Fracture grows out of control, they’re now close to defeat. With 43 live actors and 17 different worlds to explore, take an epic journey across space and time, travel to exciting new (and old) places, confront menacing monsters and encounter ancient aliens – all while you battle to save all of existence!”
Time Fracture is a one of a kind experience. Comparing this to other immersive theatre performances would be hard to do, due to the sheer scale of theming, sets and cast, it really is something you have to go and see. As you hear before going, there are 17 different worlds to explore and you simply won’t have the time to do that all in one visit. Also with such a large cast size and size of the building, you won’t get to see everything and meet with everyone.
Whilst this may seem like a bad move, you are completely immersed in such a large scale interactive performance, which has multiple stories & paths and layers of enjoyment. From people who are fans of Doctor Who and have watched it for years, to the newest of watchers, they have layered up and directed a masterpiece so all can enjoy this unique production.
The experience is split into different sections and you have the opportunity to experience and interact as much as you wish. With immersive theatre, it gives you an open world option as such to choose your journey. Therefore, whilst you are in a room with lots of other guests, you can be taken deep into the story at points and be lost within your own experience. It was simply stunning to be a part of and see everything come alive.
Doctor Who Time Fracture should be something experienced and it’s hard to say much without spoiling that experience. With this said, we will mention some of our highlights with minimal detail as possible.
We actually got to meet with so many ancient creatures and monsters during our 2 hour performance. From several versions of The Doctor, Brian the Ood, Daleks, Weeping Angels, Cybermen and so many more. Each character was perfectly played and their costumes did not disappoint. With so many scenes and stories being played out by them, it did feel like you were in an episode of Doctor Who! When you have characters such as the Daleks which have been around since 1963, you have the nostalgia and expectedness to witness them. What wasn’t expected is how they blend the old and the new together in this production, with characters such as the Kerblam robots which only featured in 2018.
Every corner and room had hidden messages and Easter eggs for the biggest of fans, whilst for the average visitor would just be in awe regardless. The detail was that epic and thought out, you will wish you did take a second look at everything but, with a world to save it’s very hard to stay in one world at one time for too long.
With every performance, you get two halves and there is no difference in this immersive theatre production. The interval had a bar but it wasn’t just any bar, it was an intergalactic adventure. This still had stories going on whilst you try and catch your breath and work out what has just happened in your own experience. The genius point with this is that whatever you have just experienced, is very unlikely that another group has had the exact same experience. The bar however was just revolutionary, it wasn’t just a boring sit down and grab a drink type of interval, it had further creatures singing current songs and keeping with the space and story you are in.
The second half we felt was a lot faster paced and a lot more structured than the first half. With some scenes and worlds being explored by everybody, it was still interesting to note that the second half did give you multiple different stories too. With this said, it all came together to the same main story that then played out in the finale.
Overall, Doctor Who Time Fracture is one of the best experiences in the UK right now! Not only being a world class immersive theatre show, it was thrilling, intense and high quality from the moment you stepped into the U.N.I.T headquarters. With so much that happens within your time of operation Time Fracture, it’s so hard to cover it all within our review. It simply has to be experienced to fully understand what all the hype is about. You won’t be disappointed!
We want to send a huge thank you to all the cast and team at Doctor Who Time Fracture for our superb time.
