Parc Asterix 2022 Review

Parc Asterix is one of the most popular theme parks in France and is close to the capital in Paris. With over 2 million people attending each year, the famous comic books come to live in their own dedicated theme park. With over 40 rides and attractions, a well known brand and experience since opening in 1989, 2022 and the future of Parc Asterix only gets better and better!

Parc Asterix is located just 15 minutes drive from Paris CDG airport. There are several options of travel including driving, taxi and buses. We chose to use the Parc Asterix shuttle bus service, this runs between Paris CDG Airport and the theme park. From the ‘Aeroport Charles De Gaulle 1’ RER station, go to the Parc Asterix counter which is signposted within the terminal, where you need to go to the ticket booths to either purchase a ticket, or validate the online ticket. Parc Asterix shuttle buses leave up to every 30 minutes from 9am until 1 hour after park closure. Return tickets cost €10 per adult. We found the journey to be easy and took less than 20 minutes on the bus to get to the park.

For those who have been to Parc Asterix or know a little more than most, 2022 is an exciting year for the park. Firstly, Tonnerre de Zeus has had an upgrade and been relaunched as Tonnerre 2 Zeus. With this overhaul, The Gravity Group has brought in new exciting track and features, new coaster trains which include the back row reversed as an upcharge experience.  With it costing €8 for a unique backwards experience, we didn’t have any queue and got straight on this popular attraction. The new ride experience with the new coaster track and trains was at first quite mixed however, it actually is still a very thrilling coaster and a firm favourite. Zeus himself, who features outside the ride entrance, even got a pair of new underwear too (although this happened just after our visit).

Other new additions for 2022 include a parade with some floats that go around the park, plus we see the return of the Hands down on the Mona Lisa stunt show, which has been absent for the last 3 years due to covid.

Whilst on the topic of the stunt show, it’s not to be missed. This was hands down (no pun intended), the best stunt show we’ve seen to date at a theme park within Europe. There were so many different scenes, stunts and special effects used in this 30 minute action packed whirlwind. If you even blinked, you might have missed something. We loved how even though it was in French, all languages could understand the show and the concept of what they are trying to get across. Only a few parks do that and for a 30 minute show to pull that message across, it just a pure bravo moment!

This is just one of many shows at Parc Asterix, from magic and illusions through to comedic Romans, to smaller meet and greets with Asterix and Obelix.

The park is home to numerous great rides and attractions, too many for us to go into detail about them all but we will highlight some of our favourites. The first would have to be Oziris, a B&M inverted coaster which has a stunning Egyptian theme. The ride experience is certainly thrilling and really is one of the best around, especially on a hot day. With the additional actors and small show in the area during our visit, it really is just a great area for Parc Asterix, that just completes the ride experience even more than normal!

Next up would be Pegase Express, a family coaster that goes forward, backwards as well as dipping & diving. Passing the rapids and into a secret chamber, the ride is really just enjoyable for so many guests, including us. We find this such a firm favourite, with again the theme just adding to that layer of enjoyment.

Parc Asterix is also home to a number of fantastic water rides, from a log flume, to a giant boat ride, to a rapids. Each offer something different, different wetness levels, different thrilling & fun moments and so on.

Toutatis is Parc Asterix new coaster for 2023. Inspired by Taron at Phantasialand, this is a Intamin launched coaster which already looks stunning. It was originally meant to open in 2021 however, due to planning and the coranavirus, it has been delayed until the 2023 season. The park have already started to build the coaster and we managed to get some snaps of this thrill machine.

We cannot wait to see how Toutatis adds to the park in 2023!

Overall. Parc Asterix is an impressive theme park in France and is one of our favourites across all of Europe as a whole experience. They have nailed what you would want from a theme park, from rides & shows, to food and themes. 2022 is a fun and exciting year for Parc Asterix and 2023 is only going to be better!

Thank you to the Parc Asterix team for inviting us to visit and supplying us 2 entrance tickets to the theme park. Until the next time time!
