NQ64 Soho Arcade Bar Review

NQ64 is an arcade bar brand across the UK which offer an alternative social evening activity for the adult scene. With 8 bars open across the UK, NQ64 are well established and know how to provide an alternative experience within a crowded market of evening entertainment.

NQ64 are fairly new to the scene with the first venue opening in Manchester back in 2019. Since then, they’ve expanded across the UK with venues in Cardiff, Newcastle and now London. Each venue provides a similar experience with there being a range of retro arcade games and machines, cocktails and other drinks and music. Providing only a top quality evening for all adults that visit, perfect for date nights, to meeting up with friends to a great work social!

Our review takes us to NQ64 Soho, the newest location which opened a few months ago in London. With the other locations being in the midlands or northern parts of the UK, Soho is the first southern location to open and therefore, offers huge potential.

NQ64 is located in Soho and can easily be found by getting the tube to Tottenham Court Road. From here, it is a few minutes easy walk to the location, just slightly off on a side road. Found by their bright neon sign, you do need to have ID and be sober to enter the venue, like most pubs & clubs.

Once you enter the venue, you are greeted by some great UV funky artwork as you enter the basement level where they operate in. Offering plenty of seats, a fully functional bar and a rather large space with a mixture of old retro arcade machines & consoles, there is plenty to keep you occupied.

Arcade machines require 1-2 tokens and these can be purchased at the bar. Consoles are free to play but they do ask you purchase a drink if you are to play these. Everything you remember for your childhood is probably within this room, from classic pinball games through to Time Crisis, Guitar Hero and all the classic dance machines too!

The selection of drinks available to purchase is quite impressive and we loved the option and range. The drinks matched the expected prices of London and all cocktails were properly made. Additionally, the cocktails had funky names that linked to classic well known games, such as “Pacs a Punch” or “Bowser Breezer”. They had a range of beers and bottled drinks too if you didn’t want to go down the cocktail route, which were equally as refreshing.

Back to the main purpose of NQ64, the retro games. We had so much fun playing such a mixture of games. So many of them giving us nostalgic vibes from our childhood, getting to play Tony Hawk, Guitar Hero and Time Crisis. The majority of the games cost 2 tokens but the more older school, single player consoles were 1 token. Cool stand out features would be that the Guitar Hero games had a special booth which you could close the door to properly rock out, plus the console games had some firm favourites on there such as Mario Kart and Halo.

On top of the games and drinks, they even had a DJ performing on select nights from 10pm till 3am. Open until 3am Monday – Saturday, there is not an excuse not to visit this venue when your in London. If you just want to pop in for a beer and a console game, or more of a night out and smash out as many consoles as possible, you can do that right here.

Huge love to the team for inviting us out to experience NQ64 in Soho, they provided us some free drinks and tokens to experience everything they offered. With 15 tokens each + 4 drinks each, we managed to stay here for around 3.5 hours without a hint of being bored. So next time you’re in London, make sure you head down. No booking required (unless a large group).

Let us know over on our socials if you’ve been / looking to go or even been to a different location to us? We would love to hear your thoughts!
